ANH hero needs those distinctions to keep it separate, it's all the little details that make the difference.

Bigironvault's ANH Build [*AP]
TK bondservnt replied to bigironvault's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
the thighs attach to the ab plate on the inside. let me see photos of your butt plate and I'll tell you what to do. when you shorten your canvas belt that will keep your belt curved. I would not use the plastic hand armor, just get some rubber ones from trooperbay. com -
because smooth and shiny e-11's are incorrect. this is a replica of the paint finish and texture of a zinc parkerized 1950's era sterling. then it also replicates the paint done by bapty props for the film. so it's a replica of 50's finishes, re-painted in 76' and added things like sight rail and T tracks, don't have the textures... because that's the way it was on screen. my original sterling parts are not smooth. they have large zinc textures all across them. crinkle paint was not used on the blank firing e-11's. carrie fisher is shown with a 1972 crinkle painted version for her photos in promo. but those were not used for blank firing, they were used in the promo photos only. you should see how bumpy a casting is from a real sterling... nothing like what most people do. far too smooth, far to "shinejob" for me. the scope has gloss black for the lens area, and it's actually reflective, I can see my face in it. the grips are gloss like the original sterling grips. the brass details on the scope along with the white numbers are like a scope I have. the textures, and the dry rubbed silver are there, and when it's in the hands it looks like a real gun. hollow barrel in front and back, longer bolt, and inner spring make this a very accurate replica. only thing I didn't do is the short sight rail with the C front, and the M19

ROTJ E-11 question about L2A3 Parts
TK bondservnt replied to rhapsodyred99's topic in ROTJ BlasTech E11
well the canadian sterling was not used in ROTJ... so... and the L2A3 was not used... so why are you asking? the MGC was the only version shown in closeups in ROTJ.. perhaps we can find another screenshot... but so far you're just not getting the fact that L2A3 parts were never used in ROTJ. you already answered your own question. -
ROTJ E-11 question about L2A3 Parts
TK bondservnt replied to rhapsodyred99's topic in ROTJ BlasTech E11
you're not correct the stock end cap and mag well are not the same on the MGC it's not canadian... it's pure MGC no detail on the L2A3 is found on the MGC... it's all different... even the diameter of the main tube is changed. we've been looking at the ROTJ blaster for many many years. why don't you look for more info... you say "the film" and you're not correct... the MGC was only used in ROTJ. no other film sports the Machine Gun Company version of the sterling. it was not used in A New Hope. the grip is not the same... the barrel end or muzzle is not the same... no part of the MGC is the british L2A3. not one part. not even the bolt and inner barrel are the same. the sterling was made in several different countries, and versions... the MGC is pure ROTJ. -

if you don't have the mgc version then you can't fake it. well maybe. -
interesting prototype. have you looked at the way the original boots are stitched? looks like your elastic side panel has a horizontal seam that should not be there. in the photo below, you notice that there are no vertical seams up the front of the boot, the side seams are removed, and only side seam is at the lower part of the elastic. These photos were taken by TK5144 they show a comparison from the left to right: Left darksidetrooper Center painted chelsea boots Right johnson and murphy's the painted ones in the center are the most accurate of the 3 they look almost exactly like tk boots.com notice how all the boots have no seams in the elastic, or front of the boot? the front seam on all these boots which replicate star wars boots is at the bottom of the elastic near the heel. the sole of your boot is more like a work boot, and should be changed for a dress boot, thinner and not as blocky. yours are too thick. notice how the center boot in the above photo shows a thin sole that conforms to the boot and curves upwards? the upwards curve is so pronounced that the front of the sole does not sit flat on the ground. also check out www.tkboots.com for the latest LEGION approved boot. I'd show a photo, but the photos are on his site. your boots are well made, but incorrect in pattern. remove the seams from the front and remove the seam in the elastic and you've got it! remove seam 1 remove seam 2 move seam 1 to the blue line here's a shot of the real thing I love watching you work! your methods and passion are AMAZING! perhaps you can create boots like the ones below.

I think it's really cool to have a nice white bucket on the inside. I like the foam star liner a chinstrap and a lens taped in. and then you can always go grey and white, with ducts, and internals like a "real" one. or you can go black with baseball helmet pads.
