  1. Smaller pieces print faster, as mentioned before I am impatient so I started to seek out smaller to prints cause staring at this rings not able to "see it" is driving me nuts!!
  2. And more days later... Literally the printing is running 24/7.
  3. Days later... Bottom frame ring complete. Started on the top ring. Talk about no instructions? It's literally a giant jig saw puzzle!!
  4. Hello all! It's been a minute. I've been busy trooping trooping of course but have also gotten bit by the 3D printing bug. Printers are so inexpensive right now that I finally pulled the trigger late last year. After printing a bunch of "smaller" Star Warsy stuff I decided to jump in and build the droid I have been looking for. I've been wanting to add a "life size" working droid to my rotation and with the help of Thingiverse, astromech.net and a couple of facebook groups. I started this build late November 2019. Let me say from go, this is like watching paint dry. I am doing this on one printer and it's a small/average one at best. But like anything else we do, it's hurry up but slow down and wait. Anyhow, I love my brothers and sisters in plastic so I wanted to just pop a few WIP pics up for you all. My end goal is to have him completed and running for May. Again, here are some pics, if anyone else is building a droid and would love to share info I am all ears. I am spending a bunch of time of astromech.net trying to learn about all this electronic stuff but honestly, it hurts my head. The print that started it all.
  5. Awe, so awesome! Welcome welcome!!
  6. Thanks soooo much Joseph and congrats Brien!
  7. Looks awesome, congrats!!
  8. Yes, sorry I forgot to mention that as well.
  9. This is after 30 mins of wet sanding 800 grit, novus 3 and 2. I am pretty sure I put a very wet (from rain) undersuit in with this. Any ideas on what else has worked to remove this black stains? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Whoop whoop! Love me AP armor! Looking good, keep up the great work!
  11. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
  12. Do you get a hum when you use the Bluetooth mic. I used one for a bit but it had a annoying hum to it. It was definitely the wireless cause I don't get it running a corded mic.
  13. Definitely seem like the "average size guy". I would also tell you to have your undersuit/shirt on when fitting as well. I know it doesn't seem like it would make a difference but it will. Honestly, looking at that second pic with your hand pointing up it looks like you have tons of room. I am a bigger guy and went bigger on the cover strips (not much 15mm to 18mm) and spaced the ridges a little further out both on the biceps and forearms. I did trim everthing prior to sizing and regretted it afterward on the biceps and forearms. Looks to me like you don't have anything to worry about. March on trooper!
  14. Great job and good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. Holy smokes! This is amazing!!
  18. Can't wait to see this completed with new pictures.
  19. I bought two regular size hats cut them and stitched them together. Then held them on with 4 sets of magnets.
  20. Honestly, I figure out the loudest I could turn it up just below getting any feedback. I then marked the volume knob on my speaker so before I suit up I just turn it to that mark. I just bought another mic hoping to get more volume out of my speaker cause often in loud spots people are asking me to repeat myself.
  21. Haha! Will do Eric.
  22. Great job and please do build a step by step. I have no idea how to build "clone" style armor just having a ANH TK. You will save us all the effort of having to sign up on the clone detachment to figure that part out. Again, Congrats!!
