  1. Some nice looking blasters i'm seeing from all
  2. Well that rulles out your statement about ''This number is the same on every scope'' i guess ?, as mine is C77948 from 1942. But you could be mistaken, and so could i.
  3. Well it's easy to say that the bolt is from 1962 Gone explain... Sterling manufactured in 1962 (S62) , Abridged NATO code 960-2153 , Steel batch code R4636 (or 8, can't see it clearly) You bolt still has some of the Original finish on it, wich is a very nice bonus... Now if you want to know if the bolt matches the age of the cut up sterling itself (or are pieces put together kit), then i would love to see a better pic of the KR number. i believe it say's KR 32401 ? If so, then it's from September 1959. Also would love to see the military coding system number on the bottom. This way we can determinate what year it was made, and where it was made... In liverpool or in Dagenham, Essex For example A serial number broken down.. UF57-A 12345 or US57-A 12345 can be broken down thus: U = united kingdom manufacture F = Royal ordanance Factory No6, Fazakerley, Liverpool S = Sterling Engineering Co, Rainham road (south), Dagenham Essex 57 = year of manufacture A = indicates first batch of 99,999 guns With this info you could figure it out yourself, but for me it would be nice to see a pic for the rest aswell. There are lot's of other cool stuff to know, but for some it just ends in being a SW prop.. But it's nice to know a thing or two, for those who want to know or want to learn more about what they really have. p.s. I'm on a 32'' 4K monitor .. so small and unsharp picture's are a bit hard for me to see (go figure haha)
  4. Just a sidetrack question ... what serial does the bolt have, and is the trigger group full auto ? If you want to know the date of your parts kit, i can look it up.
  5. Military issued Sterlings didn't have a wrinkle finish, (untill) Commercial Sterlings did. Sterling SMG's were painted with the wrinkle finish during new production when going for commercial or export sales. British military variants were painted with smooth Suncorite 259 paint at the factory and during subsequent FTR programs. They gave it a crackled finish to hide the welding spots, untill they introduced the brazing proces. But the paint had by that time established itself durable.. so they all got the wrinkle paint. Unless you find a ex military variant. The most ones you see today, are worn down to there undercoat. One person that has a MKII Sterling, thought his was plain black, untill i asked him to check under his pistol grip..
  6. although not obligatory I find that using a heat gun or hair dryer, you get the best wrinkle finish. Make sure you use an adhesion promoter on the plastic pieces. (but that's ofc not possible anymore) Sticking it in a oven, ofc not ^^
  7. How are you gone tackle the rear sight, as the small cuts on the curved top needs to point towards the end of the tube, but this would mean you need to figure out how you are gone attach the scope rail. Using a real m38 scope might be too heavy to attach the scope rail true the rear sight peak hole.
  8. Some nice picture's for the thread http://imgur.com/a/hM5ov
  9. -------- Not the way i'm backing up mine, but it's a brand that stands.
  10. from seller : Just to be clear the M38 Scope, Hengstler Counter and Magazine are Not included. As for the Cost I can do full Build for somewhere around $450.00 to $500.00 Dollars. (Will come with Scope Rail.)... You will have to obtain T-Rails, Hengstler Counter, Scope. These can be obtained in Resin very inexpensively.
  11. If you were in my country, i would have buyed 10 haha... silly me. but sadly true ... i love them too much.. Do you sell loose parts aswell ? ''Also a commen thing i see ^^ , is why people put the trigger group retaining pin the wrong way around, seen it dosn of times now ''
  12. Nice so far Did you drill the hole where the bayonet lug will go aswell ? As it's not needed to drill that hole...
  13. some Sterling wrinkle finish that lasts 50 years allready. macro shot. (you can see some rust in between some lines, pritty cool) Love your build.... and VHT crossed my mind if i wanted to redo mine ... can't wait how it turns out for you. I used VHT ''Yellow'' for seomething else do ^^ It's pritty strong paint when done right... Are you gone bake it in a oven ? or use hairdryer ? Couse it needs heat to wrinkle.. used the VHT primer aswell..
  14. Looks great Before you paint, you might want to have a good look at the foresight guard.. The ''dog-legged'' stamped checker patern shouldn't run all the way to the front of the foresight guard. Front : back : As for the breech blocks all around, a fun thing to know is ''for example'' S66 9 602 153 M 2380 Means : Sterling manufactured in 1966 (S66) , Abridged NATO code 960-2153 , Steel batch code M2380.
  15. Still no answer, forget it i have no idea, + this thread was a year old.
  16. Maybe they were never in service... who knows ^^ So does it have a serial on the bottom ?
  17. Could it be worn off ? The serial # is pritty small.. Did you check the bottom of the scope aswell ? Should be something there too, on the same ring (wich is not swappable btw) What year is it ?
  18. They aren't mass produced anymore.. Even Wiselite stoped a couple of years ago.. They too are out of business now. The building is empty. About 3 yrs ago when done with the sterlings, they let go 40 employees They kept 7 and started making aircraft parts. Nobody is making civilian sterlings from kits right now. Except a indiviual.....
  19. Yes.... But it's about the rear sight ^^
  20. Just wanted to share a rear sight ^^
  21. Awesome Be sure to change the screw in the grip the other way around And turn it to the LO CK position.
  22. someone give this guy a chopped Sterling kit ^^ let him remove all paint, weld, and chrome it, or spray it gold., forest endor camo finish ... c'mon Yet have to see something special ... something a resin kit or scrap build hansn't don yet .. You got my support. In the end they all end up black ... but what would impres me (my opinion) is a diferent color for display.. heat up metal showing all colors, you name it .. Non the less '' Impressive! ''
  23. That's something i can't help you with..
  24. how does one measure a rear sight with all the curves and being intakt ? What measure do you need ? Another cheap way is this ---------
