TK-25567 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status (ATA) [734]
Sly11 replied to password's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hey Juan Thank you for your EI application lets see what we have. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos have been posted. Your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. Welcome to the rank trooper! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. Thank you for the extra detail photos, they always make it easier when looking at applications and allow us to make more suggestions if required. Really there isnt anything here that isn't a very quick fix, so Centurion will be easy for you. Lets take a look at the couple of things that can get you looking the best you can for that next application. Probably the most commented on item in our reviews is the shoulder bell position and gap. If you can shorten up those top black straps that connect them to the shoulder bridges, and have them virtually touching the plastic bridge itself, they will look perfect. Reference image. Secondly, the connecting straps between your back and kidney plates might do with a similar type of adjustment. Looks like the center strap is too long, Perhaps even a wider elastic strap in the center might help. Refer to the reference image below of how the two pieces align. Reference image Centurion Suggestions: Because Centurion photos show much more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here but with the extra photos you supplied as we mentioned earlier, this is cut and dry. Only one item to mention. For level three certification (if applicable): Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box.Secure your drop box straps to the canvas belt so they cant slide in or out and are always in the correct position as per the CRL. Glue, stitch or even adhesive Velcro will all do the trick Reference image One last thing, as Joseph mentioned in your thread. It is a little hard to tell in the image what rivets you have used on the thigh ammo pack, but if they are infact pop rivets, they will need to be changed to either a split rivet or a cap rivet. Easy fixes Juan, thanks for a great application, congratulations, and we shall see you in Centurion review soon. -

Modding the Icomm with an external battery.
Sly11 replied to Sly11's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
3.6 is definitely preferred as the Icomm's are quite sensitive to the voltage. I haven't tried a 3.7v just to stay on the safe side. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk- 38 replies

Hi Francois welcome and thank you for your patience, and applying for EIB. Let's have a look your armor. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All the required submission photos have been posted. Without further delay, your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. Ukswrath and myself would like to welcome you to Expert Infantry. Congratulations trooper . Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. We have a few minor areas to cover, starting from the top. 1) Shoulder bells and large gap. We get that you are a big trooper, at 6'4", and broad shoulders, and you have done a great job of fitting this armour to your size but we are positive that you can comfortably shorten those top straps the connect the Shoulder Bells to the strapping under the bridges. They should be virtually touching each other, like i the below reference image. Reference image Now this next item has no bearing on your application or approvals, but more a point to make for anyone that looks at your armour and applications. You do not have to do anything here. If we look at the main button plates on the Ab section you can see in the below reference image they are separate and glued onto the armour. RT-Mod are actually molded as one with the ab plate. Now we are not fans of this, but it is how the armour is made and there is not anything an applicant can do to fix this without a major undertaking to modify their armour. What I can say is you have done a very tidy job of painting those buttons, excellent work. reference image Centurion Suggestions: In this section we prepare you for Centurion. If there were any areas of concern they would be discussed here. It is obvious with your attention to detail Centurion is in your sights. There are only a couple of things that will need changing to meet the level 3 CRL so lets look at those. For level three certification (if applicable): Ear bars shall have only one bump painted in black (rank stripes). Tears/traps shall be hand painted or use decals that emulate hand painted (with correct ANH TK details). Currently you have no rank stripe painted on the ears so the addition of one each side will be a lovely finishing touch. Secondly, the decals you have will need to be replaced. You have two options, hand paint them, or use the hand painted Dave M style sold by a member here on FISD. References Hand paint Or use hand painted style decals like Dave M One last thing to mention, it is difficult to seein these images but just make sure if you apply for Centurion you remove all the return edge from the wrist end of your forearms. The more detailed set of photos required for that level must show both the fore arms together so we can see that aspect for the approval process. That's it Francois, awesome job my friend, make your changes and get that Centurion application in Congratulations -
Popcorn, I'm loving this conversation and really wish I could add some value, to it other than what has already been said. Jedah is a sandy rocky Barron type of planet, just saying. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The 'yellow' trooper renovation -WIP
Sly11 replied to CableGuy's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
It might be a bit late but I have some tips for stopping or reducing the bleed when painting. 1. When applying the decals or stencils, always spray them lightly with water with a drop or two of detergent in it. This allows you to position the decals and slide them around to get the positions spot on. Then with a paper towel pat dry and then hold decal at one end and make sure you press all the water out from underneath. The sticky back will adhere once the water is out and dry. 2. Always paint the tube stripes with white paint first. Then when dry and you paint the blue, it dramatically reduces the chances of the blue paint bleeding. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

Hi Hubert There is still some return edge left that can come out on the wrist end of your fore arms. All of it must be removed. For level three certification (if applicable): No return edge on the inside of the front of the forearm is allowed. -

Hi Francois Could we please ask for another photo of the closures on the back of your shins. One thing that stands out is the fact your cover strips run all the way to the top. They should finish at the base of the ridge. Secondly we cant tell if the closures are the outside closing over the inside halves or vice versa. -

Alright Will let's get into it! Thank you for your Centurion application and thank you for making the suggested adjustments on your EIB application. CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required submission photos are present. Your armor displays all the elements as set out in the level 3 CRL. Ukswrath and myself would like to congratulate and welcome you to the Centurion rank. Awesome job Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: Only one little thing we can see, and I believe it is occurring because you have lost weight, your back plate looks like it is overlapping the top of the kidney plate on one side. Looks like you might need to tighten the strap a touch. Congratulations again Will on a great build and as mentioned in your EIB review, the excellent and difficulty job you have done in trimming down your weight to better fit into TK armour. You are an inspiration to others. -

Hi Jorge Thanks for the updates. Just a few things I would like to mention as i am currently looking at your application. 1 The shoulder bells look like they could be moved in closer to the shoulder bridges. Looks like a 1.5" gap there at the moment. 2 Could you post up a photo of the inside attachment of the knee ammo pack. Reason we ask is RS have been using the incorrect rivets (pop rivets) instead of cap rivets. Yours does look like they have filled in the hole and painted over it. RS have now changed these to the correct accurate cap rivet on their commission builds. If they are the wrong type you will need to change them out for the correct type. 3 Also the sniper plate needs to align with the ridge on both sides. Yours is mounted below the ridge on one side and sittig perfectly on the other. -

Hi again We are going to ask you to make an adjustment on your armour. Something that we noticed in your EIB application and offered a possible remedy. The but plate snap looks like it has either let go or is not positioned close enough to the edge of the plates as it is jutting out considerably. It could be just a dressing issue as it looks to be more prominent in this photo more so that it was in your EIB photos. Centurion photo If you could attend to this when you have some time, and post up a new photo we will continue with your review. Looking fantastic by the way -

TK 10064 requesting ANH Stunt EIB status (TM) [727]

Hey Will Thank you for your EI application. It's been long awaited, so lets get started. You my friend are a champion in the truest sense. Doing the hard yards and having the patience to drop the weight so you could look fabulous in your armour is a tall order and you stepped up. You must be very proud of that accomplishment alone, and here you are now an Expert infantryman. We noticed that some of your cover strips, particularly on the Biceps and one of your thighs look a little long and could be trimmed back so they don't protrude past the edge of the armour pieces they are attached to. Biceps Thigh Centurion Suggestions: Because Centurion photos show much more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here. We try to point out all we can from what is seen but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. This is also where we try and get you in the best possible position for a successful Centurion application. Overall, this is a nice clean build Will, well done. The only standout correction would be the drop box alignment to meet the CRL For level three certification (if applicable): Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box. Yours seem to move around a little so perhaps a dab of glue or adhesive Velcro so they always stay aligned with th ends is all it would need. Well mate, you got this far and Tony and I see no reason why you shouldn't go all the way. Go over the Centurion CRL and photo check list to make sure you have everything you need, and shoot for a nice clean Centurion application. Congratulations yet again. -

Looks good where you have it. Clean up the area and post up a new photo so we can re appraise from there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Another tip, if you feel the fore arms are too long once assembled, trim out all of the return edge at the elbow end as well as the wrist end. It gives a touch more movement at the elbow joint and is screen accurate. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
