  1. Some people are good enough with an exacto blade that they can score & snap. I never seem to get that right so I use a dremel. At first I was bad at it, then I discovered the Diamond Cutoff wheel. It's been working very well for me. Check out: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php...=dremel+diamond
  2. I use a snap system on my FX armor and it's fantastic. Takes me just a few minutes to put the armor on/off, they never pop, I never have to adjust them, and they never get tangled with each other like velcro. I tried doing snaps for my TE2 suit but the plastic is a bit softer and I'm not sure it can take the strain. Also, I'm having a hard time making snap plates with styrene. So... 1) Has anyone ever put a snap system on their TE/TE2? If so, which method did you use? 2) Can you mix/match plastics, e.g. use an ABS snap plate on HIPS armor? Lastly, if you're not doing snaps, what can I do besides velcro? I've seen one neat system where they basically used a strapping system but instead of snaps, the bases have a resistance slot where you can put a strap through. Thoughts? The armor's pretty much done, just need to get the strapping system figured out.
  3. Outstanding collection! Buy them now while you're single. If your spending habits don't get cut severely after marriage, they certainly will after kids.
  4. Be careful guys. There's resin and there's resin. Most resin weapons are very easily chipped and broken and don't hold up very well. I'm not sure what Tony's making his out of, but they're pretty indestructible. It will pay off in the long run to get either his or a hyperfirm. At some point you or someone else will drop it - if it can't survive that it's not worth buying, IMHO.
  5. Gotcha covered Ricky! From here on out though, any request w/o a link to the appropriate 501st record will be ignored.
  6. Oooh! Now that would be worth pissing off the wife to buy.
  7. Rest assured guys, V'Pier is working on even more tweaks, and there are some things that do need changing. This was a very significant upgrade to the code base forcing us to lose our template and start from scratch, and the fact that it come off so well is a credit to V'Piers expertise.
  8. Three polls are open and will be so until 26FEB. If you are a 501st TK and want to have a say in deployment standards, now is a good time to request a status change
  9. Needing a pair, I ordered the ones Paul mentions. Will let you guys know how they turn out. I did the entire TORP in my MC's and my feet were still comfortable at the end. I'd rather pay a little more if it means the next pair will fare as well.
  10. Got it now - the permission masks wasn't set up correctly - fixed!
  11. Found these on the 501st forums, some might help: ----------- ---------- ---------
  12. I basically replied to the email that PP sent - the email addresses matched so I'm surprised you didn't get it. Well, at least you can see your status change.
  13. Simply outstanding! Report to Lord Vader immediately to prepare the occupation of Bespin.
  14. Hi Jared - I replied via email to the PP message. LMK if you don't see it.
  15. Roger that! Happy Birthday Albin
  16. You're all set Andrea
  17. There are two votes coming up before the detachment starting on Monday, one for adoption/rejection of the proposed deployment standards, and the second of what our version of deployment will be called. If you are a 501st TK and do not have the group image "501st Trooper", please post a status change request with a link to your 501st profile if you want to have access to the polls.
  18. Did that make enough difference? Or do you still have to put it on sideways? I didn't use a liner but just hot-glued some foam pads - one on the top and one on each ear.
  19. Status updated. I'm going to request that from here on out people include a link to their 501st record as part of their request to help speed things along, e.g. http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember...cfm?userID=6595
  20. There are rules, and there are rules. Actually the Legion charter only states that there needs to be a detachment leader. I may summarily dispose of my staff should I feel I not need one, or have a dozen lackeys with super cool fancy titles if I want. Each det & DL has a lot of leeway in this matter. But as Ed says, we do try to standardize as best we can to avoid confusion.
  21. Sure. Check your new title.
  22. If you are not in the 501st, you will be a "Member" If you are in the 501st *BUT* do not have an active TK designation, you are a "501st Member" If you are in the 501st *AND* have an active TK designation, you are a "Stormtrooper" If you're status is incorrect, you must request a status change in the appropriate thread here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=16 The admin staff will periodically run bulk updates against the Legion database, so if your status changes automatically w/o you asking, this is probably why. To be affected by bulk updates, it's critical that the email address you use for these boards is the same as the one in the Legion database.
