It will be interesting to see what is shown on the Start Wars TV series. It could easily be canon in two years' time. -
Mark IV deployment request.[01][FX]
Daetrin replied to Scott M.'s topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
The standard just says separate kidney and butt plates - doesn't mean you can't have a hidden third. The intent was to emulate the look as seen in the movies. Perhaps there is a better way to word it - we're open to suggestions. -
Mark IV deployment request.[01][FX]
Daetrin replied to Scott M.'s topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
#2 -> you are correct in it not always being visible, but I think it's more the fact that it can. In many screen shots it's not visible except from the side, where you can see the but plate tips down a little by the hips. AFR -> no worries! This is a new program so there is a bit of a learning curve for all of us -
Mark IV deployment request.[01][FX]
Daetrin replied to Scott M.'s topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Scott - overall a great job and congrats for taking on the challenge Things I see to fix: 1. Presuming you're going for ANH (per the other details), the first thing that jumps out is the frown. If you look at the screen grabs from ANH, the frown paint is much less than what you have, which looks more like an ESB detail. 2. For the split back, I think what the standard had in mind is not just that they are cut, but that there is visible separation from behind as shown in the screen grab here: Also for reference... 1) An angle shot of the bucket would help in establishing the lens type & color. 2) The blaster is also a bit dark to see the details thereof, but from the outline I presume it's correct. -
Roger that - excellent find

Mark (Deployment) Standards Status Update
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in FISD Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) Requirements
oooh - yeah I guess my comment could come off harsh. Actually I think hand-painting for ANH is a great idea myself, but realize that sometimes it's best to take baby steps. Once we have 100 deployed TKs - then it's a good sign we need to raise the bar. What do you guys say? 100 deployed TKs for our detachment as a goal -
Helmet to Helmet Intercomms system

I think it's a great idea, but as you note it requires a "tech guy" who has the time/skills to help out. These seem to be few & far between... -
Mark (Deployment) Standards Status Update
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in FISD Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) Requirements
Yes, we do allow decals. Maybe some day in the future we won't. We also allow FX armor too for instance. The purpose is to try to raise the bar of the whole group, and not to get so specific that no one can achieve them. It's also the reason why these details are voted on, rather than dictated. If someone is passionate about it we can always create an amendment poll, but IMHO we should let them rest for a while and focus on helping existing troopers achieve them should they desire. There are over 1000 TK's in the Legion and over 100 TK's in this detachment, yet only two members with Mark status. -
Here's how it works on CTN: 1) People selling armor post pictures of their molds/wips/bucks the first time around, esp. wrt armor. 2) Claims of recasting must be substantiated by the accuser or withdrawn. 3) People who continue to finger point w/o any evidence are disciplined. 4) People who sell a recast item and try to pass it off as original are disciplined. If you don't like this policy, you can pipe up now or lose your right to complain later.

IIRC the answer is no if you are representing the 501st or at a 501st event. Rome could say for sure. What you do when you're on your own is up to you.
-
Alas another thread of my word against yours. Perhaps we should pull a CTN and start requiring people to show their molds? Seems to work well with our clone brethren...
-
That attitude is part of our mission to change. TK's should stand tall and be proud. I could never figure out why some consider our costume 2nd class compared to the rest of the 501st. No matter, I like the new direction the Empire is taking...

This bickering is pointless. When someone who has the answer cares to share they can PM me. This thread is now closed until there is something worthwhile contributing.

Elite Standards - ROTJ version is located at: <a href="http://www.whitearmor.net/requirements/standardROTJ.htm" target="_blank">http://www.whitearmor.net/requirements/standardROTJ.htm</a> For reference in this section of the board here is the text: Stormtrooper Detachment Elite Standards - ROTJ Configuration * Comply with all base standards * Comply with all ANH standards except the following: * Armor Details o Holster is not required o If a holster is worn, it must be attached on the right instead of the left o Snowtrooper hand plates instead of the angular ANH ones o All black ab plate buttons o Molded lip around the cod and chest o Ab plate details (button area) needs to be upside down compared to ANH standards. o Single back/butt piece, not split like ANH * Helmet Details o Slate blue traps/tears instead of ANH grey o Black frown instead of grey, and the paint should overlap the "lips" o Lenses must be flat green or bubble green o Traps/tears must be decals, no hand-painting o Four teeth each side o No screws on ears o Ends of frown are squared off, not tapered to points * Blaster Details o No ammo counter o Two greeblies on the left rear area. Release Notes The following items will be voted on as independent items # If we should exclude the FX helmet from being acceptable for Elite status. Note: this exclusion is not being considered due to the size of the helmet, but it's overall inaccurate appearance compared to what was seen on screen. # No shoulder bell straps across the biceps # Shoulder bells are rounded at the corners # Belt should be 2.5" wide # Brow trim should be low on helmet

Dude, that sucks Sorry to hear that

Three polls closed recently: 1. ROTJ Mark (Deployment) Standards passed by a vote of 13 to 3 -> ratifies standards at http://www.whitearmor.net/requirements/standardROTJ.htm 2. ROTJ Mark (Deployment) Standards amendments passed by a vote of 11 to 0 -> includes changes to mandate upside down ab plate details and allowing green bubble lenses 3. Not ROTJ specific, but the vote to include neck seals in base standards passed by a vote of 13 to 0.

Current consensus is that there was no rhyme nor reason on Lucas' part for the sandtroopers - there was a bucket of pauldrons and they were put on for what looked best cinematographically. Missing pauldrons were probably not a worry as they were in the background. Lack of packs on some was due to stunts (e.g. tumbling after being shot), or like the lack of pauldrons due to budget/background issues. There is not a single shot of a stormtrooper (with wedge knee plate, drop boxes, etc.) in eps 4, 5, or 6 with any item from the the sandtrooper panoply. And, since this detachment focuses solely on canon stormtroopers, this is why we don't endorse such extras. <breathe> That said, it's your costume in the end and you're free to do with it as you will at non-canon events. -

Bernard is correct. The PA group meets regularly and has their own website at http://www.mepd.net/ -

Just because others do doesn't make it right. The bottom line: if you have a pauldron you are not a canon TK. You are an expanded universe TX. -
Enough Gino - if you have the answer then spill it, else it looks like your trying to bait someone into a fight. No RPF'ing here.
