  1. Oh man, well it's been a crazy year, but low and behold I have brought this Bastard kit back from the dead to be now APPROVED into the 501st Legion. Yes sir we brought this originally unapprovable costume up to standards and I have to say.... That was a lot of work. I would not recommend Jedi Robe to anyone for anything.... Well except a real Jedi robe, they make those ok for about 35£... So, in the process of bringing the kit up for approval, I also brought in a new recruit, my son , James Hill, DTK 92193 , very proud and happy to have spent the last year working together. Thanks to all you other troopers who have helped knowingly and unknowingly. Thanks to the staff of this detachment and of course to the 501st legion staff as well. Troopers helping troopers, very cool thing to be a part of. I would also like to thank my Garrison, the Carolina Garrison , and especially my GML , Thomas Gardner, for all the frantic emails and questions late into the night. You really helped me stay on this project until it was complete, and I appreciate all your inspiration. Thanks guys, this was a great Christmas present for me and my boy !
  2. I mounted my mics in the smallest teeth in the frown, one on each side. It's great when people are talking to your face, it really projects their voice. It is crazy to be able to hear in all those directions, I call it my superman hearing.
  3. I seen your helmet hand painted on Instagram, looked good.
  4. Hand paint for accuracy , I have decals on my ESB because I have too. But I much more prefer the hand painted details. You can do it man! It's not super hard. Put on some tunes and just relax. I bought my son a MTK kit we are building as a TD, everything appears to me slightly on the large side. We are having to trim a lot off of the ab and kidney plates because he is so thin. My GML says we got it down though , ,looks good. MTK was fast, fair priced and I was particularly happy with the helmet . Very sturdy, sharp pulls. Good luck man!
  5. Nice, I love that feeling of a fresh new kit. Good luck.
  6. In for approval! Looking good. One more thing to do. That is split the kidney and butt plate....
  7. Nice, I am building an MTK kit as well for my son. We are going TD though. Good luck man! I'll be watching.
  8. It doesn't look like it would take much to get the unit right. Like Steve says, you can only make it so small. I think possibly talk it over with RS, but, if you trim the shins at the ankles, not much, start small, then reposition the legs thighs and shins. Make them line up with the contour of the cod piece. Then you may have a bit more mobility in the armor. Good luck.
  9. He mentioned the Ab buttons earlier in the build, but they are right at 1/2" almost 15/32" lol. Remember the is the Jefi Robe kit. The spots on the ides is wher I sanded the other colors off and over the process they became very visible. It doesn't bother me, and just adds to the texture and detail. Good guess though.lol
  10. Thanks Todd, that means a lot coming from you bud! Yes, I am color deficient ( color blind ) not horrible, but red and green are the two hardest for me to see. Earlier in the thread you'll see that I had it green, way too green, but it was cool. Then I toned it back and used the colors suggested by my GML. I know it's far from perfect, but, not bad for the JR kit. It was fun. The holster on the right side is one of the things my GML picked out. One other thing. Any guesses ?
  11. Yeah, Steve is right. Heat is really easy to over do if your not careful. I would like to see your SDS kit when you have it together.
  12. okay , in for approval. very close my GML tells me. Here are the submission photos. I also gave the kit to my oldest son for his birthday and am hoping he will makeit into the legion. Thanks for all the support from FISD. My Son, James. James and his girl Jenny, They are expecting a baby in 2015. Due date May the Fourth!!!! yes!!! Ha, Love these Guys.... Thank You fellow troopers for all the support. I love being a part of this group. I know i haven't been around much, or for very long, but i have learned alot from you guys and gals. I want you all to know i appreciate it. Long Live The Empire and The First Imperial Stormtrooper Detatchment. Thanks For Looking!
  13. Yeah buddy, my oldest and I are building a TD for him, MTK also. Fun stuff. Nice Work you two!
  14. Wow James, you have quite the collection of armor. Nice work on the TK. Keep it up!
  15. Yeah man, not too shabby. I wish I was a bit taller to fill my kit out more, but you definitely max that kit out. Looks good. Like Steve said a tad bit on the shoulders and secure the torso a bit on the back and front. Just remember to try and bring the shins down over the boot a tad bit, and maybe raise your cod up as far as you can , to try and tighten the gaps a bit. Looks good to see another TK in the Carolina Garrison! See you around bro!
  16. Make sure your razor is brand new and super sharp!
  17. Yeah that's a great idea with the wire, and card stock. Thumbs up dude!
