  1. Welcome to the FISD. You made a good choice with the AP kit. Not sure about the fan and speaker kit. I'm scratch building my fan set up and my voice amp is based on the Walmart voice changer and some speakers I bought from one of the members here. See you around the forums. -John
  2. Nice pictures of a 1st class job.
  3. I'd be there in a flash but I'm marooned on the other side of the continent. I need a faster Dewback or a speeder.
  4. Hi Teresa, there are lots of kits available that have nothing to do with the Ainsworth Lucasfilm lawsuit. FX, AP, TE2, RT MOD to name a few.
  5. I really like the MRCE but it does require some modification if your up for it. I got mine for $100. Good luck with your quest.
  6. Glad you found it useful. They have a weekly newsletter too. -John
  7. Have you been to this website? CNCZONE A lot of these guys are building their own CNCs. They may be able to point you to some freeware to get your models to the correct format. Most of the stuff we do at work we convert to STL files from an OBJ. Usually, stuff has to be reworked in ProEngineer. That's mostly for stuff going to final tooling. Our fab shop can take OBJs for the foam cutter and the stereo Lithograph printer. They still have to convert it with some proprietary software. I have a program for converting the STLs but for some reason I can't remember the name. It will come to me as soon as I close the laptop I'm sure. -John
  8. Hey Matt, thanks for the info on your setup. Hopefully, I'll get into that this weekend. Have you got your table up and running yet?
  9. Pretty cool Chris. That's a shiny paint job.
  10. Very cool. You ought to change the line to Kevlar kite string. The kind they use on those big control kites. Then you could dangle from it around the house. :)
  11. Here's the place I ordered them from: Rockler Woodworking They got here so fast it surprised me. The hole saw is a good idea. I was considering a different type of ceramic post like Alex suggested. I sure don't need any direct shorts. Thanks for the input guys.
  12. Taco bell for me too. I can get down there and back to my desk in 15 minutes.
  13. Shorts and a t-shirt usually. Jeans and a t-shirt in the winter. I have to dress up when I meet with important clients. I work for International Game Technology as a Lead Designer. I handle all of their Lucasfilm licenses. -John
  14. Thanks Paul. Alex, it's about 6 inches. Thanks. It's sure has been a fun project.
  15. Nice job. That DLT-19 awesome.
  16. 400, 600 and 800 wet / dry paper is all very fine. It's usually dark gray in color.
  17. Good ol Labor Day weekend. In honor of it I put in some hard labor. 1st up I fixed the messed up oven side of the frame by grinding off 10 welds. What fun. It took every grinding tool I owned and a few I didn't know I was going to own. On the positive side, everything I know I learned from a screw up. Now that Friday is gone and the Frame is closer to being usable It was time to dive into the oven. Not literally, that would hurt. Here are my progress pics for Monday. I beveled all the edges of the hardibacker for a nice tight fit and lined the inside with sheet metal. The sheet metal should make the oven more efficient by reflecting some heat back into the center. Corners are secured with aluminum angle stock and riveted together with 3/16" rivets. Next on my list is finishing up the material frame and getting the main hinge trued up with the oven and the table. I'm planing on adding an aluminum lip around the top of the oven to provide an adjustable seal to the frame. That ought to be fun.
  18. Looks like you have the same get up as me. Did you have any problem with the belt position in the back? Looking at ANH ref the belt should ride over the kidney plate. Mine is riding over the butt with the seam at the top of the belt. It's because I cut my Cod and extended my ab. Now my belt is riding way too low.
  19. Just measured mine the other day. It's approximately 12.5 inches wide. Give or take .0625" It's a good low cost option. -John
  20. Looks awesome. Nice job.
  21. Ab buttons and I need to work on my kidney plate. Also shim my sides. Another weekend ought to do it.
  22. Hey, Thanks Lucas. Thats exacty what I'm planning on doing. Great minds think alike. True. Good thing I took sculpture in art school. Anyway, it should be fun. -John
  23. A lot of my parts came in this week. Oven parts from Mor Electric. Holding frame clamps from Rockler woodworking. A Gast vacuum pump from Ebay and some air tanks from Pep Boys. I went over my dimensions a 4th time and sure enough I made a mistake on the oven side. Matt you were right it is low. About 3 inches. Looks like I'll be fixing that next. Measure 6 times redo it twice is my motto.
