Hero never die! (screen used stormtrooper helmet)
Dark CMF replied to Verne's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
That is a really amazing collection! Although it is still a little difficult to follow due to the translation, you can turn on the subtitles by clicking on the CC box in the lower right, and then go to the Settings Gear and select English as the subtitle language. Getting part of the story here and there is still better than not getting it at all, but seeing some pretty pictures. -
HOWTO: Make your ANOVOS TFA kit more accurate
Dark CMF replied to SolderMaster's topic in TFA Stormtrooper
There are some scenes - and I'm having no luck in finding any screen shots to support this right now - where that notch detail is actually black. Of course, in the dressing room photo, not a single one that is visible appears to have it colored black. -
DoopyDoos full kits are fully approvable for Centurion level. There are a number of kits sold by DoopyDoos The full kit, 100% resin when delivered, is approvable. The conversion kit, does not make a toy approvable.

The only E-11 I have ever carried in my armor is a DoopyDoos kit build. Take that for what it is worth.

Converting ANOVOS kit to ESB Centurion
Dark CMF replied to shaunpug's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Normally I'd say any decals from TB are good, just make sure they'll fit your helmet, but I'm not sure which type would best fit on the ANOVOS helmet. You may want to wait until somebody with better access to the decals and an ANOVOS bucket can weigh in on this one. -
Converting ANOVOS kit to ESB Centurion
Dark CMF replied to shaunpug's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
The rank bars on the ears are either two or three PER side, according to the CRL: For level three certification (if applicable): Ear bars shall have only two to three bumps painted in black (rank stripes). -

EIB and Centurion: What do these terms mean?
Dark CMF replied to justjoseph63's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
The shoulders don't have to be canvas straps. They are just white elastic. I'm fairly certain that you should be fine drilling. It is a TM kit? I know that he uses acrylic capped ABS, and installs the original brackets for the body strapping. That means that he has to drill holes in the return edges for the brackets, and he installs those same snaps so there shouldn't be an issue with drilling through the ABS that I can imagine. Do your research, that's definitely the key, and don't hesitate to reach out if you've got questions or need help! -
EIB and Centurion: What do these terms mean?

Hey there Dan! If you're considering it, I do encourage you to go for it! I realize that we're all different, but FWIW, when I did my armor build, I was two and a half hours from the nearest Legion member. All I had was FISD, and I built it to Centurion standards from the beginning. I'll be happy to assist you however I can (short of getting on a plane to be local) if you decide to go for it, and I'm confident that there are many others here who will be just as - if not more - helpful in any way they can ! -
Looking good Steve! Always a joy to witness one of the masters at work!
-
Nice work on the trimming Aaron. Everything looks nice and clean. Ready for the next phase of assembly for sure. Steve beat me to the TD clip comment I was going to make. I have to say that it is exciting and infectious to see so many energized new builds happening at once! Makes me long to get back into the garage and get some strapping assembled on my own project. LoL

Definitely worth trying then. See if you can get some local, folks to commit to checking in for the stream as well.
-
It isn't a bad idea, but it may be tough to guarantee that you'd have people available to watch consistently. Part of the benefit of the build thread is that people are able to check in when they have time to do so and provide their feedback.

If you can find people who are able to assist via live streaming then that would be awesome. Where do you live? Have you made contact with your local Garrison yet?

Anovos FOTK retail helmet - Legion approved?
Dark CMF replied to lztybrn's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Given the nature of the FO TK armor, I'd imagine it would be much easier to paint the kit to match the helmet. As for your initial questions, I'm in agreement with Brian on the ability of the ANOVOS commercial bucket to be approved.

In answer to your second question, I with Glen in saying that you do not have to be a Legion member to submit a FO TK costume for Legion approval, and there has already been at least one jimmiroquai FO TK approved in the Legion.

Good luck!! -
Welcome aboard, Bobby. I'd personally suggest beginning with the biceps. They're basically just straight cuts, and can allow you to get a feel for the plastic as you cut it. Also, be sure to have a look at other ANH Stunt builds, both ANOVOS and otherwise, to see how others have gotten through their build process. Best of luck!

As long as they'll fit your snaps, those should work as well as any other snap pliers. Having said that, I'm a bigger believer in the hammer and setting tool approach to snap installation, than I am in the snap pliers.

The holster on his right hip appears to be holding Imperial Binders. Andrew, this was awesome!!! I found myself a little sad when I realized it was ending, and I can't wait for your next one! Great stuff, thanks!!

The physical differences are really nothing more than the "cartoonyness" but since it is so distinctly different, a "Rebels" TK would need to be sculpted and built for a CRL to be written and approved as a new costume in the Legion. Nobody has submitted one yet.

My first blaster holster attempt...
Dark CMF replied to humperdingle's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I'd say that it turned out pretty good. Nice work really. I'm also right handed, but TK-51878 (ANH-Hero) isn't. LoL. For me, I almost NEVER holster my E-11, even though I have a holster that works quite wonderfully for doing so. -
And, for the record, they are canon for First Order Stormtroopers also.

Stitched to the right, with the loops instead of the tabs is for ESB TKs. -
For Rebels TKs, yes. For OT TKs, no.

Trying to refurbish my FX
Dark CMF replied to Ripper_L's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Looking good, Christoph!! -
Simply being seen on screen does not automatically mean that it (whatever "it" is) is part of the 501st Legion CRL standards. Gaffer tape is seen on screen. No tube stripes is seen on screen. No drop boxes. Too many drop boxes. There are plenty of examples of things seen on screen-used Stormtroopers that are not included in our CRLs. We are not a prop replication club, we are a costuming club. You can continue to say that the belt rivets are questionable, but really, they aren't. They are a standard here for our costuming standards only. Not a direct representation of what was seen on screen. Two different things entirely. As Wyatt said, there is no such thing, anywhere, as an off-the-shelf road map to membership in the 501st Legion. If you want to join, your energy is best spent researching here, and using the resources available here to guide you during your build. The FISD is the road map to membership, not kit A, or kit B.
