  1. Yeah you need to soak it. Using a brush, and thus more paint per layer will do the job I think :-)
  2. It really does, good job:-). How many layers so far?....
  3. Damn damn and blasted !!! ( pun intended). The paint job from yesterday started "bubbling", and I could peel off a big chunk of paint. Luckily for me, it peeled off just in this spot. It did not take much time to tell, that Angelus painted on top of shoewhitener, does NOT work...so I will peel off what I can and then repaint.....
  4. Looking good..but I think you should remove the black covering from the wires. The wires should be somewhat thinner, and red and green in colour:-)...like the ones inside.... Did you receive the stand yet?:-)
  5. Wow!!?, Alexey...that is beautiful work!..:-)...that looks a thousand times better than mine:-).. I am buying an airbrush!;-)....
  6. Ha ha ha :-D.....laughing aside, what size boots do you you wear?......
  7. Thnx David, the amount of walking that Trooping takes is the main reason why I advocate high quality shoes....:-)
  8. Thnx a lot:-)
  9. A word of caution: make sure to use a scalpel all the way around the edges, so you seperate the masking tape and tha painted surface, that will save you from irritation, grief and more work:-).....
  10. Just painted another pair today.... I used shoe whitener in combination with Angelus. Time will tell if there are any differences between the two methods used. I gave them approximately the same number of coats. I started with shoewhitener, and then Angelus, and then shoewhitener, and then so on and so forth, ending with two coats of Angelus... The boots are the Herring ( made by Loake on the 290 last I believe).
  11. Good idea to use a bandaid the first couple of times.:-) ...or go to the cobbler he can help you expand the left one a little bit....but fear not, you will get great boots that will last forever:-)... I started mixing the two paints, so two layers ( it dries very very quickly) of the "new" stuff and one layer of Angelus...looks pretty good I really do not know which type of paint they used in the movies.....:-)...
  12. Ha ha...ok yeah I see what you mean now:-)...I am sorry to hear they are not yet great... did you try some of the methods I told you about?:-).... Where exactly is the problem with the fit? Good bandaids which last are Compeed and Tenso..... Just because I can:-), having to pairs seemed like a good idea, and they were given to me free of charge :-). And I am using another type of paint, which is matt...seems to work a little better, and it sticks better to the leather for some reason:-)
  13. Looking GOOD!:-).... And they are really nice, and ofcourse very screen accurate, boots. How is the fit now? Are you using brush or sponge? I incidentally has just started to put masking tape on another pair ( made by Loake for Herring Shoes, it is the same model as yours:-))
  14. Better or worse with PTT vs. Voice activated?
  15. I see a report button on all replies to posts..including the one you posted here...
  16. Right:-)....at least not armour:-)
  17. Where do I find the LIKE Button??;-)
  18. I work there, like I told you..;-)..21 years and counting..and yes that is where I got my boots as well.:-)
  19. As long as it is black, with no visible markings or zippers/buttons then you are good to go...I will be using Danish Army issue underwear:-)...
  20. Revolting behaviour....scammers like him, that lure money out of anybody, (but especially future troopers) should have their tongue tied to a tailpipe of and old Toyota and then be dragged naked across a field of broken glass......
  21. If you can't see the difference, hen sweet:-)Okey dokey on the trigger:-) Jawas are awesome:-)... Well regarding paint..I use Citadel Colours that is normally used for miniatures (Warhammer etc.) and I use three different silvers on the blaster and the rails, and both brass, copper, bronze and gold paint on my scope and Hengstler......... Those paints are waterbased, and dry quickly but are very very easy to work with, especially for drybrushing and highlighting

A wise decision if you ask me:-).. And building is so much fun!..plenty of inspirational threads as to how to assemble and tweak:-)....the doopydoos is a solid kit, but from the looks of it the DVH is really really cool:-)

    Muahahaha....:-)
  24. For real?..:-).. The ones on stormtrooper-costumes clearly has several stitchings on the front, a quite high heel, and no elastic band in the sides of the boot, which all are definate no go's....if the ones you find look like the ones in this thread then you are in he clear:-).. A lot can be found used cheap on ebay, and goodyear welted, handcrafted shoes will last forever ( I speak out of experience as I own numerous pairs of shoes/boots with this type of construction, and some of them are more than 8 years old, and they still look very new).
