  1. Ahaaa so the ring is made from resin?..just assumed that it was metal...but getting a piece of metal to make a D ring is not difficult. The wire coat hangers for kids from Ikea will do the trick....
  2. Coming along very nicely David
  3. Re. The D ring...you should turn it around, so the gap is behind the "socket/attachment..then there will be no need for bondo....
  4. Yup!..and then I intend to hand paint gloss varnish on the the pistolgrip and T tracks, as to sort of make them look like plastic...
  5. Picked up another pair of boots, now I have three different ones, besides the ones I have painted. I am sure I will paint one more pair, which ones are undecided.... From the left: Austin Reed, Herring, military issue Front to rear: military issue, Herring, Austin Reed From left to right: Austin reed, Herring, military issue From front to rear: military issue, Herring, Austin Reed
  6. David! No special paint, just not the cheapest one. I normally spray on some varnish, to help protect the paintjob, but last time I used it, on another blaster, it screwed it up, making the surface milky white...so very reluctant to do that..... Ps saw someone use spraypint with hammered effect that looked nice, I also considered using texture paint, as old Sterlings have this rough textured surface..... Btw one of my good friends has a demilled Sterling he is willing to part with when I feel like having the money for it........uhh I am excited:-)
  7. Just primed, with a primer specifically made for plastic. It is transparent ( much to my surprise). Painting and assembly will be done today. Then comes weathering, scope ends, and Hengstler counter...hope to finish it before the weekend...... Also made this stand
  8. My very good friend and colleague dropped these on my table this morning at work....not bad:-) They are similar to the ones I have just painted ( military issue ones). They are a little more worn than the ones I painted and one of the pullstraps is broken....but still very nice. I have another pair from a different company waiting at the postoffice......:-)
  9. Thnx, also for the advice, I washed everything in soapwater before assembly, and I wiped the entire blaster down with alcohol (the non imbibeable version) last night....but I'll give it a quick wash this morning, justfor good meassure☺
  10. I was this close to buying from stormtrooper-costumes as well....luckily I got in touch with NG before parting with any money. The sad thing is, that this company continues to be in bussiness, and are not clearly stating that they are selling suits of armour that are not accepted (without mods), by the 501st. "Thank the maker" for the local Garrisons and FISD
  11. Ok..., depending on their quality a cobbler can sometimes expand them for you.....alternatively, soaking them in water and inserting shoetrees or walking in them when they are wet sometimes works (an old soldiers trick).
  12. Nearly ready for the painting. Considering to wait until I enlist and get my TK number before I fix the "display" on the Hengstler counter. But I will prepare everything for it. I also need to come up with a decent solution for the scope ends....anyone know where to find the decals for that? I finished with a light sanding overall, and tomorrow will be painting, and maybe scope and Hengstler.... Thats all for now...
  13. Thnx again, yeah probably will..., but then again I think mine is the easier build of the two
  14. Added a pin to keep the folding stock in place, and also screwed the pistolgrip on..... In addition to this I made the Hengstler bracket and the scope rail....(pictures later).
  15. Yes I did, but just to take off the uppermost layer, I did not get all the way down to the raw leather though.. Any way, I will see how it holds up, once I start wearing them for trooping ( damn I can't to get my armour. My boots are finished, I am bulding my blaster, I have the undersuit and balaclava, the rest of the soft parts come with my armour..and then ofcourse I ave to apply, and get okayed first....). I think te elasticity is intact, however a little less than before...
  16. Finished the magazine, and also the bolt (the handle off one of the boys play rakes), cockinghandle (attached a screw so that it screws down into the bolt) and spring, which I made from a wire coathanger, wrapped around a metal rod, from my closet, that I normally put my coathangers on). Additionally I ground the Hengstler counter, and will cut out areas to put in my number (when I eventually get one) make the counter reset button, and window as well... Now it is glueing time...
  17. Thanks, and roger!..luckily that is easily fixable......
  18. Thnx, hoping it all turns out fine..., and yup loads of research.
  19. Congrats on the new boots. But a pair of boots that are too tight, sounds like a challenge when trooping...No need to remove the pullstrap, as the original boots had one as well. The Broginis are fine for EIB and CEN, they just need a light scuffing
  20. Drilled out the remaining ventholes. Fixed the powercylinders .Drilled out the front sight and made the pin from a drillbit. Tomorrow I will begin assembling, and do the last part of the grinding, sanding etc.
  21. Continued... The Hengstler counter has gotten brass screws As well as the scope They are all screwed in, and not glued in..to me it looks a lot nicer😊
