  1. Looking good man:-).....good that you have found some boots that you really like.... A word of caution (I myself am very impatient).. But be patient and do not paint too thick layers:-)....... Looking forward to the final result:-)
  2. Thanks, but I cannot claim that it is something I came up with, I found it on Deviantart....but it is really cool, but in order to get the texture into a tattoo, it will have to be quite large..:-)... I love this design....but have gone down another road now:-)
  3. Okay.. Made some changes. I exchanged the wires for some thinner ones and then decided to paint them black, as well as give them gloss varnish, just as I did with the pistolgrip. I also ground out the window in the Hengstler, so that it now is raised only a millimeter. Painted the A R and S letters, as they were on some of the original Sterlings.... Only one thing left ( if it works out).. But all in all pretty happy with the result.....thanks to all you guys for inputs and the builds that I used as inspiration and guides...:-)
  4. Ahaaa, must have been very tired this morning.....I only just now saw that you have both uniforms;-)... COOL!
  5. Thanks a lot:-)... It will be good I think.....
  6. That is a great idea, it is actually what I started out with as what I wanted, but then my wife said to me.." If you are gonna do it, why don't you go big!, and chose one of your favourite characters...so I gave it a thought and this was the result... This is the initial idea....
  7. Those are FANTASTIC:-).. I've seen them many a time before:-)... Very very cool:-)...I was very close to buying The Force in the Flesh...but decided against it, because most of the tattoos in it were some I had seen before on the internet...but the author told me ( when I met him at CE II)... That a sequel book is in the works.....:-)....get that one I will....:-)
  8. Thanx a bunch Jason:-).. I like those old/new school tattoos as well, and I fell in love with this running paint style....that will be the style of the stormtrooper....next year some time.... Yeah there are so many great ideas for cool tattoos.... Thanks, I hope many more will contribute....:-)...
  9. Hi all Having recently (nearly) completed my first Star Wars tattoo. I thought that I would start a thread about Star Wars tattoos. I know that it is not a character that would qualify for the ranks of the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment, but I really love this character anyway..... The inspiration for my tattoo is this piece of art by Brian Rood, my tattooist has then made some changes that I wanted. I was lucky enough to meet Brian at CE II ( it is Brian on the right) I bought this limited edition print (7/25), but actually it is one of only two, because it has been signed by Jeremy Bulloch...Brian has the other one. And this is my tattoo, minor highlighting is still to be done...and then a Stormtrooper on the opposite side is in the works... 14th november, minor shading done..now finished...working to decorate the other side with a TK... If you have a Star Wars tattoo, then feel free to share it here :-)
  10. Great!..no not really, except that you should not buy the one with the funny spray nozzle...(cannot explain it, but it looks so much unlike a normal nozzle that you cannot mistake it)..
  11. Hmmmm...do you not have a Silvan, Optimera or Bauhaus nearby?..they all carry matt varnish in spraycans....:-)
  12. Ofcourse you could try the brush method..I have only used that on the handle and it looks good, but maybe it can look well allover the blaster.......
  13. You are most welcome, glad to help another "prospect" trooper:-).... The varnish for miniatures normally comes in a bottle and is water solluble, and that will not last...so just buy the one you can find where you bought the colour sprays....
  14. Yeah it is a clear coat:-)...but not glossy. It comes in spraycans as well...that is what I use, but be very carful..I have now tried three times that it turns milky white if sprayed at the wrong distance in too large amounts at the time.... The drybrush technique is to take a "smaller" modelling brush, dip it in silver paint and then wipe it all off on a kitchen towel, and when no more comes off, you drag the brush back and forth across the raised points and areas on the weapon. You do this again with another layer of a more silvery coat....too much and it looks painted, too little and it will be invisible...the number of coats is up to you...which look you are aiming for... Kindergarten level will probably be a little below the standard you would like to achieve;-)...
  15. It looks good, and actually alot of the original Sterlings were quite glossy black. I would go for matt varnish...except on the pistolgrip, which is supposed to be rather glossy, being made of plastic or more precise bakelite... Make sure that when you drybrush, be patient so as to make the brushstrokes invisible.....
  16. Ohhhh.....but think about how happy it has and will make you....:-)
  17. I just did the math, 2689 $ is my amount, and that is not counting the first undersuit and neckseal I bought (another 120$), but that amount excludes boots (which I had already), but includes an Icomm....
  18. yeah they are running fast those expences.....very fast..If I count my expences, I am nearing the same amount....
  19. David...it must have been, I am not sure I could have done that to a pair of brand new Loakes....but they look fantastic, and very authentic. I am 100% sure you will be very satisfied with them, and they will last forever.:-)
  20. Carl, thanks...will begin working on it as soon as I receive both the Icomm and my armour...
  21. Thanks a bunch Carl :-).... That was one of my ideas for attaching. Now that I can see that it works, I wil go down that road..:-)...Thanks again:-)...
  22. Blasted again!.... :-(.. Had to remove all the paint, peeling off and sanding, then ending with a rub down with paint thinner.... This is what they look like now, ready for multiple coats of Angelus...(and nothing else)......
  23. Coming along very nicely!....:-).. Looking forward to seeing it finished:-)
