Yeah it is a clear coat:-)...but not glossy. It comes in spraycans as well...that is what I use, but be very carful..I have now tried three times that it turns milky white if sprayed at the wrong distance in too large amounts at the time.... The drybrush technique is to take a "smaller" modelling brush, dip it in silver paint and then wipe it all off on a kitchen towel, and when no more comes off, you drag the brush back and forth across the raised points and areas on the weapon. You do this again with another layer of a more silvery coat....too much and it looks painted, too little and it will be invisible...the number of coats is up to you...which look you are aiming for... Kindergarten level will probably be a little below the standard you would like to achieve;-)...

It looks good, and actually alot of the original Sterlings were quite glossy black. I would go for matt varnish...except on the pistolgrip, which is supposed to be rather glossy, being made of plastic or more precise bakelite... Make sure that when you drybrush, be patient so as to make the brushstrokes invisible.....

I just did the math, 2689 $ is my amount, and that is not counting the first undersuit and neckseal I bought (another 120$), but that amount excludes boots (which I had already), but includes an Icomm.... -

David...it must have been, I am not sure I could have done that to a pair of brand new Loakes....but they look fantastic, and very authentic. I am 100% sure you will be very satisfied with them, and they will last forever.:-) -

Thanks a bunch Carl :-).... That was one of my ideas for attaching. Now that I can see that it works, I wil go down that road..:-)...Thanks again:-)... -
Blasted again!.... :-(.. Had to remove all the paint, peeling off and sanding, then ending with a rub down with paint thinner.... This is what they look like now, ready for multiple coats of Angelus...(and nothing else)......

Brenton:-).... As long as it is black, without zippers, buttons and markings, non textured and sits tight on your body..it is accepted......:-) -
Thanx man:-)... I thought that myself...glad someone else shares that opinion:-)...

Arh lucky you:-)... I think this looks ok, but if I come across some convex glass/plastic I will definately put that in instead:-)...I used a cut out from a plastic cup for the front end of the scope.....

Some more pics of the finished result. I am in the planning phase of pimping it even more by constructing a working folding stock....maybe it will pan out as I hope.....:-)...not being a craftsman at all, I am treading virgin ground.....let's see.

Had ordered a cheap monocular on ebay. It arrived today, but alas: the oculars were too small, so I decided another approach to get my scope more realistically looking. I cut out a disc of plexiglass and then ground it down to the right size using my new favourite tool, the Dremel. I then ground out the scope to make room for the glass and decal. The surface in the scope was smothed out, as I found it to be too rough, eventhough a decal would cover it up Decal and ocular installed I think it turned out decent enough:-)...I have made the glass fit snugly, so I can remove it and install another I desire so.

Chelsea boots painting using airbrush (heavy pics)
SorenM replied to Ales's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I am quite sure that the boots in the movies were painted with a brush..:-) I like the way my boots turned out, eventhough the brushstrokes are visible....at a distance of more than a meter, you cannot see it.... -

They look vey nice Alexey...very nice:-).... -
Yeah it is, and I find that a real plus, as there will be no problem with the neckseal cloth moving around, as it fits snugly to the body and is held in place by elastic bands...:-)...

It is velcro.....:-)

What are the differences between certification levels?

I suffer from CDO....it is the same as OCD...but with the letters in the correct order......;-) -
In search for a new neckseal, Troopermaster recomended that I buy the one made by Veedox, so I did. It arrived today, and I must say that it is a piece art, and superb craftmanship. Friendly service, custom made, fast shipping, and the price was good ( actually the same as I paid for an impulsive buy......which turned out to be horrible, ill fitting, poor quality..( be patient Soren....))... The authenticity is top notch, the materials are comfy and nice looking and really a pleassure to wear. The ribbed part is made from a soft rubber like material, and the rest is satin I believe, which also lines the ribbed part, so that the rubber is not in direct contact with the skin. The cool thing is that the cloth around the ribbed part covers the entire upper front and back of the body, and is secured around the waist with broad elastic bands. I can only give the product and customer service my highest recommendations and praise.... I am SO happy with this purchase, and cannot wait till I can put it to use:-)
