Boots - Are these a good find for $40?
SorenM replied to mikedwelle94's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Not being a TX, or any other version of a stormtrooper for that matter, ( but I hope I will be within a forthnight or so)I interpret these as being not up to standards, when I compare with the CRL. If I were you I would definately go for a black leather boot and then dye it red using Angelus ( or similar). Try these http://www.amazon.com/Bass-Mens-Amsterdam-Ankle-Black/dp/B002LZT9FO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377232247&sr=8-1&keywords=chelsea+boots I have no idea how good they are, but They are a cheap pair of boots and I know several others use them, and they are definately up to standards...... -
It all comes down to indoctrination ;-), :-D

That is a great build Morten!....hows the pipe coming along?:-)

The belt itself is just a strip made from faux leather (PVC), but if you look closely in the movie an old belt with a square simple buckle will do.:-)The ammo pouches are authentic k98 pouches ( which I had) they can often be found for around 3-400 SEK, it is roughly what a set of replicas will cost you on ebay. Additionally the Jawas used old Swedish ( funny eh?) k98 equivalent pouches, as well as old british cavalry bandoliers..I bought the bandolier on ebay from India, but it did not arrive in time to be used...but next time:-)... I am tweaking the costume for next time, LEGO land next year:-) Do you know this page ? http://www.partsofsw.com/ Loads of useful info!....

I pondered all the way to work as to how to fix it, and went by my friend the mechanics workshop..and remembered that he uses this in his job...et volia! ( as the French say)... It worked fine, but i used the scalpel also:-) Thanks for you suggestion..it looks much better now:-)

Thanks

Fixed :-)

Being a soldier, I love the clean cut look in general. Symmetrical, in line, uniform appearance really appeals to me. In my memory of seeing the movies I remember the stormtroopers as such, and it is only in recent years that I really noticed all the "flaws"..... Being a "trooper to be" I will go as screen accurate as possible, without the impracticalities of gaffertape etc. I want my TM Armour to look as nice as possible, with natural wear and tear, my blaster is only moderately weathered, my boots are painted and will get the natural scuffing which I will repair as I go....

Allright now. Afternoon gone. The miliput on the magazine did not work for me. Sanded it all down, and then took the punch metal letters ( borrowed from my friend, the Battalion weapons mechanic), and heated them. Then pressed them into the magazine. That outlined the letters, and I then carved the letters out using my old trusty scalpel. BEFORE AFTER The wires Left to do are the lenses and the decal, the magazine thingy ( thanx to Simpixel for the template) (maybe the counter window)

Muahahaha.......Thanks man, it's highly appreciated

Started to make the changes ( left work two hours early to do so..). The wires, had to paint the green one, as I could only get one with a yellow stripe in it ( thanks to vern for the pics of the wires). Put some milliput in the mag end.. I borrowed some punches for the new lettering, but it will not work properly so far, the letters are too small. While I was at it, I milliputted some deep scratches in the folding stock I moved the Hengstler forward, closer to the power cylinders Fixed the screws in the scope, so that they are now "steel" ...( I could not find any M2 or M3 screws in "steel", so I chose to unscrew, paint silver and put them back in....I think they look the part). Now I need to do touch ups, and re-weather certain parts..attach the wires, and fix the scopes...and then that will be the end of this build
-
thanks...I want brilliant . ooooh those two blasters are beyond my skills (and my wifes patience..like she jestingly said yesterday when I announced it finished.."oh so now you will actualy be part of this world again then?")...love her
-
Hmm ok..a number of things need to be changed. attachment of wires in the right colour and with the correct number of coils, magazine thingy produced and attached, scope lenses (in the mail), and decal attached, magazine lettering changed to smaller letters, move the Hengstler forward, so it aligns with the "line/circle" on the scope, change the screws on the scope to "silvered" metal ones... curving the plexiglass in the counter window (if I can manage)...pfew..and I thought I was finished with it.....

Doopydoos E-11 build, Total amount of expences.
SorenM replied to SorenM's topic in ANH BlasTech E11
naaa, not really , but things do cost quite a lot in this country in general, the tubes of glue are rather large though, and the aluminium bars are normally used for protecting corners of plaster walls, so they had a quite nice finish to them.... thanks , quite happy with the result myself..... -

You are right, it does not make much sense...but I take it all as a conpliment -
My point exactly.😊😊.you really have made a fantastic weapon!.. I've actually fired a real one on several occasions...( a perk being in the military and deployed on operation), when I was on operations in Bosnia back in the nineties....

Cheers for that Simon..mis-spent....ha ha ha...funny old thing I still paint a miniature once in a while Another funny little thing..at work I go by the name S.I..

Thanks Is that because the letters are too large??...I used the smallest drill I have for my Dremel....I will consider redoing it..any suggestions as to how to do it best?

Inspired by Simpixels build, I ordered a cheap monocular on ebay, and the plan is then to insert those lenses into my scope, along with a decal... Additionally I am contemplating adding wires to the counter, and maybe the magazine thingy.....and then its finished....

Thanks so much...we both LOVED that experience... I am in the process of reworking the costume, so that it will become even more accurate....:-)

Awesome build!...ever held the real MG 34 in your hands?...
