  1. I primarily used a two component fast drying epoxy called : Epoxy Rapid 332" from Dana Lim http://www.danalim.com/product-catalogue/office-hobby/epoxy-rapid-332/ It is very durable once it is hardened. I tried prying the magazine well off, and using as much strength as I dared, it did not move an inch. I also used Loctite Flextec gel superglue for smaller things like the triggerguard and magazine " thingy"..
  2. I remember this part of the CD ROM " Star Wars: Behind the Magic" vividly....I still find it both sad and actually quite funny... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wcbkWgCy4Gg
  3. Three valid points:-). With regards to all the new members posting threads I agree. A lot of "one question" threads fill up. That being said I have no problem with (new) members posting threads on how they are building, modifying etc. this and that.....eventhough threads have been posted on that subject earlier.....:-)...
  4. Nice one!..looking forward to seeing your new boots...and good call that you bought yourself some new ones!....:-)
  5. you could just paint away as it is now, and then go over the sole with some black paint afterwards....I tried it and it Works..and actually you cannot see the white paint that are alll the way Down in the crevice between the sole and the boot leather anyway...
  6. I believe it is, and I am going for that as well. The reasons are legion (no pun intended), and some of them haev been mentioned. For me it is also about striving to "be my best", in everything I do. When I do stuff I normally always go "all in".... That is why I spent so much time on my blaster, boots etc.
  7. That is good news for you then...very nice....:-)...Good luck on the upcoming job:-)
  8. Agreed, but there are, even if they are a lot more expensive, better alternatives than the Bass Amsterdam.......:-)...
  9. Like I said.."as far as I know..."... So not promising anything....:-)..,but I think you are right.....I am pretty confident that basic approval is no problem at all.....
  10. Eagerly awaiting a shipment......

  11. Like I said, would be a pleassure helping you out advise etc.:-).. Yes it's very cool, and ofcourse I am rather excited. Both about getting it and the fit..but I am confident that the fit will be spot on when Paul says it will....:-).... Yes building building....I am sure it will be very rewarding when you are finished;-)....
  12. Yes, as far as I know.....
  13. Michael you are right, there are shortfalls :-)...but the boots you are converting now have issues when it comes to both the stiching and several layers of leather, as well as the general, shape of the sole......requirements that are quite clearly stated in the CRL..... My initial comment was solely aimed at your use of regular shoewhitener.....:-)
  14. Not being even close to be the DO, my opinion really does not count, but eventhough I feel pretty confident that they meet the basic requirements: "White leather or leather-like, above ankle height, with a flat sole with a short heel, and small U-shaped elastic sections on both sides of the ankle with no buckles or laces. Jodhpur/Chelsea-type boots or an equivalent style is acceptable. Elvis or Mariachi boots are not allowed." For EIB and CEN....not really sure....
  15. Thank you so much Steve.I must admit that I am pretty happy with the result myself. Actually I have been thinking about building them on commission or build and sell them assembled and weathered etc. But I think the shipping costs would be astronomic, and thus make the blaster too expensive for people to buy.....which is sad because I really enjoyed building it...:-)
  16. Thnx Tim :-).Please ask all you want, it won't be pestering, I will gladly help you where I can.... I expect it to fit right out of the box, as I have sent all my meassurements to TM (Paul), just like going to the taylors :-), so if any, I expect only minor adjustments.......:-)..
  17. Thank you Tim:-).It definately is a nice feeling, to be able to say that....it literally is fully comparable to the feeling I had in the days of Christmas when I was a kid ( you know when I was a kid age wise, mentally I am often still a kid....for instance when it comes to the excitement about most things Star Wars) :-).. Thanks, I think I will be using the airbrush for the first time today...on another pair of boots....:-).. Congrats on being able to check the box labelled " buy undersuit" on your "building a Stormtrooper to do list" :-)...
  18. Nice!.:-)....like!... Most recent tattoo, or most recent Star Wars tattoo?..
  19. I am well aware of all the accuracy requirements Vern..:-).... That is why I have chosen these boots, and made such an effort on my blaster etc. But thanks for pointing them out.. ( the other boots I showed are just as "clearable". Btw.:-))..I would actually say that the ones I have shown are more accurate than the TKBoots...because of the leathersoles and being painted white...
  20. I agree Vern, but then I think that it has to be clarified in the CRL..:-).I see a lot of questions about which boots are allowed in here... And I think we agree that there are several different boots to choose from, that all look like the originals, but with slight variations....:-)..
  21. I agree with you that those boots aren't a good choice (soles, heel and the stiching/extra layer of leather), and I am not aiming at beginning a big discussion, but if I read the CRL, I cannot see that they won't be accepted for standard TK approval...only for CEN... "For 501st approval: White leather or leather-like, above ankle height, with a flat sole with a short heel, and small U-shaped elastic sections on both sides of the ankle with no buckles or laces. Jodhpur/Chelsea-type boots or an equivalent style is acceptable. Elvis or Mariachi boots are not allowed. For level two certification (if applicable): For level three certification (if applicable): There shall be no seam on the front of the boot (e.g. CABoots are not allowed). Boots shall be lightly scuffed."
  22. It might actually work well, I tried using a mix of this and Angelus acrylic paint. The mix was bad, but the shoewhitener did a good job covering the black...I suggest using masking tape;-)
  23. Nice one, thumbs up!.....but are you "changing sides" ?....:-)...;-)
  24. You are absolutely right :-).....not cheap interests.Ofcourse there might also be people who don't want to flash their tattoos on a public website......but still...it surprises me how few post there have been, taking into consideration how popular tattoos are these days.....
