  1. At 5'10" and 215lbs, RT Mod is the better choice IMO.
  2. Personally I'd stay away from hot glue. I've found that it doesn't hold up very well as your body starts to heat up and sweat in the armor.
  3. So looking at both the CRL and EIB standards, it looks like I can hit the CRL right now - provided I remove the temp tattoos on the pauldron. For the EIB standards, I'll need to remove the drop boxes and holster - easily done BTW as I built them to be removable. I'll need to pick up a third ammo pouch and I should probably get an orange pauldron since that's the only color shown in the reference pictures. It would also be appropriate to finish out the DLT-19 conversion - a HWT ought to have a heavy weapon, after all. Am I missing anything, and can you throw in a hip ammo pouch along with that orange pauldron?
  4. Start with the easiest parts, those typically being the biceps, forearms, calves, and thighs. Pretty simple to put together and it'll build your confidence. There are two AM build threads here that are nearing completion, so feel free to ask how they did it. Remember, we're all here pulling for you.
  5. I just checked the CRL list on the Legion website - no HWT listed.
  6. That would be good, Paul. With enough scrounging and some creativity, I can probably find something around the house or at Home Depot that can stand in as a passable grip disc. Then again, the CRL doesn't require a completed DLT19 conversion. So - if the temp tattoos on the pauldron (which I kinda like but will either need to remove or get a second pauldron) don't bother you, here's what I've got: -----
  7. I'm waiting on a Hyperfirm-compatible grip disc and ammo feeder tray cover to finish my MG34-to-DLT19 conversion - one of the projects on Stomper's need-to-finish list.
  8. General consensus is that Hyperfirms (made by Sci-fire) are the best all-around trooping blasters, due to their accuracy and near-indestructiblity. MRs are nice but are expensive and can get pretty heavy after a while. Better as a display piece IMO. Hasbo is the inexpensive, "my first E-11" kind of route. Acceptable for 501st membership, but most troopers I know eventually get the itch to upgrade.
  9. It doesn't look like you painted the armor/helmet. Is it the lighting, or am I correct?
  10. Captain Solo seems to have let himself go.
  11. Nice and shiny. Do you hand paint the tears & traps? Magnificent job, it's almost a shame to see it go sandy.
  12. Welcome to Christmas in January. I always enjoy hearing about the new arrivals. You'll have a blast.
  13. Absolutely. That's how Thayne and Vern did it. ANH and ESB are similar enough to make it practical. You'll have to use an ANH-style E-11 and of course make the mods you've listed, but it's definitely doable.
  14. Hmmn, The ears don't have the uniquely-shaped bump molded into them that my RT-Mod (Mk IV, I believe) helmet has. Quite the opposite - the bumps are separate pieces on this kit. An earlier version, perhaps? Also, I always thought Rob preferred to assemble his helmets himself as opposed to selling them in kit form.
  15. How about an introduction over in the New Member Introductions section?
  16. That would be suprising, since I've never heard of AP pulling a kit in black ABS. Not saying that he never has, just that I've never heard of it. Post some pics, and we could probably tell you the armor maker very quickly.
  17. It depends on the kit. Most TX troopers have FX kits, in which the seams are designed to overlap. However, I have seen a TM TX, and I believe ATA also makes TX kits. For those, you'd butt the edges and use a joining strip.
  18. Although I'd personally prefer to see a different material used for the side shims, it looks like you've got everything covered.
  19. I believe superglue remover will also eat away the ABS. Unless you can find something that says it's safe for plastics, it's probably best to sand off the residue.
  20. LMFAO!!! OK, back to business. As much as I'm enjoying this bit of humor at Gino's expense, I also feel obligated to remind everyone of the following: 2. No baiting, flaming, shilling, or trolling. This includes using avatars or signatures to provoke other people. While Gino is certainly no one's favorite son here - least of all mine - we still need to conduct ourselves in a way that reflects good credit upon the FISD. Even toward people like Gino, undeserving as he may be. Joke's over troopers. Back to your posts.
  21. Too bad Julie, you'll miss the femtrooper group photo shoot. Kidding! I don't know if such a thing will happen - but I certainly hope so.
