Also, if you are looking for an alternate source for gloves, there is EndorFinders. I can't attest to their quality (mine are from ImperialBoots), but they are certainly far cheaper and seem to be more available. I may end up buying a spare set from them. https://www.endorfinders.com/costume-accessories/tfa-stormtrooper-gloves

If you have access to a 3D printer, there are free files here at FISD that you can download to print/assemble your own rifle and pistol. Or if you want something already assembled, Heston 3D Solutions on Etsy seems to be a popular choice. Look here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/157-tfa-f-11d-pistol-and-other-weapons/

Having seen a Jimmi kit up close, at your size I think that's a good choice.

Traitor, Executioner: face characters?
tkrestonva replied to Patient0x00's topic in TFA Stormtrooper
By "traitor" are you referring to Riot Control stormtroopers, e.g. FN-2199 (or more widely yet incorrectly known as "TR8R")? The way I see it, neither the Executioner nor the Riot Control stormtroopers are one-off "face characters" but specialists within the First Order Stormtroopers Corps. While they will certainly only be a small number seen at any given time compared to the overall force, there is nothing limiting to them being a one-at-a-time seen character. And yes, FN-2199's wrist boxes are missing. Most likely to allow for added mobility when executing those sick spins with the baton. -
The Last Jedi (TLJ) Stormtroopers - a first look
tkrestonva replied to tkrestonva's topic in TLJ Stormtrooper
I think that the photos we are seeing is conclusive evidence that aside from the helmet there are no significant differences between a basic TFA trooper and a basic TLJ trooper. Good news for those of us who already own TFA suits - a simple helmet swap and we are good to go for the premiere. -
Imperial Death Trooper Armor Kit
tkrestonva replied to Rancor_Wrangler8425's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
In addition to SpecOps (which owns the costume from a 501st perspective), there is the Death Troopers Build Group on FB. https://www.facebook.com/groups/DeathTroopersBG/ -
I imagine that since it comes from a canon source, it is approvable - once the CRL entry for him is written. That also means *someone* has to be the first Cardinal - hint, hint.

I can see your eyes! Issue with lenses
tkrestonva replied to Albaz's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
You can paint the interior of the helmet, or a quick and easy solution (if you have the extra material) is to use a double layer of acetate for the lenses. -
Sizing question for a shorter trooper
tkrestonva replied to Guroburov's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
If you need to shorten the abdominal armor (which is likely) you can cut the cod where it meets the ab plate and remove a couple of inches off the plastic. The belt should cover the seam. -
Sizing question for a shorter trooper
tkrestonva replied to Guroburov's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I would start by trimming down the chest plate a la Luke Skywalker in disguise. -
I would personally go for the basic FOTK since the CRL is already on the books, then go for the Executioner. If you can get spare parts (shoulders, thermal det, helmet, yoke) then you can go back and forth between the two.

Any recommendations on a TFA kit for short and fluffy people?
tkrestonva replied to TK1325's topic in TFA Stormtrooper
One of my garrison's TFA troopers is fairly short - something like 5'7". He wears a Jimmi kit. Furthermore, as I understand it Jim himself is on the shorter side, and he sculpted his kit to fit his proportions (short and relatively thick). So as long as you are comfortable working with his flexible fiberglass (which is very different from working with ABS plastic) and don't mind the additional weight of fiberglass, I would look into that. Also, Jim has a pretty fast turnaround time. Unlike Anovos, you would actually get it prior to the TLJ premiere. I believe he even offers the option of a TLJ-specific helmet. -
ANH canvas belt question, detail or just age?
tkrestonva replied to Mr V's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
If it's new armor then I prefer a new belt. As the kit ages, so will the belt. No need to give it a prematurely aged look. -
Perhaps using some Novus plastic polish and a lot of elbow grease would work it out. Novus #2 is the go-to for removing scuffs, so it may work here as well.
-
Did you happen to ask whether or not they will be producing a TLJ version of the helmet? I know there are at least three fanmade versions in the works, but I'd also like to know if Anovos will be producing one as well.

TLJ Executioner / Judicial Laser Ax
tkrestonva replied to gmrhodes13's topic in Weapons of the First Order
Dude ... WOW! -
Looks like I've just found my next soft costume.
-
So are these guys called Judicials or are they called Executioners? Seems like I've seen both names being used. Perhaps they are interchangeable?

If the only thing you're looking for is a Halloween / party costume and you have no interest in the 501st, then finding a secondhand Rubies Supreme kit on eBay or Craigslist may actually be a viable option for you and at the cost you are looking for. People tend to buy them either for the same reason you are looking for one, or they mistakenly believe it will work for the 501st. Later, once they are either done with it or realize their error they tend to toss them back up on eBay for cheap. Further, if you don't care so much about screen accuracy then you don't need to worry about proper soft goods (boots, gloves, neckseal, etc.) or a proper blaster. If you're not in a hurry, start checking the listing in November. The post-Halloween online market will be flooded with them.

Stormtrooper manual of arms for marches?
tkrestonva replied to Engineering trooper's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I would also look for footage (YouTube, perhaps) of the preparations for the 2007 Rose Parade. They had to teach 200 stormtroopers how to march in formation, most of whom had no prior military experience, and they had to do it in only a few days. I believe they ended up calling in actual drill instructors. So you may find some useful tips. I have it as a bonus section on one of my Star Wars-related DVDs, but I don't remember which one right now. -

Stormtrooper manual of arms for marches?
tkrestonva replied to Engineering trooper's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I remember seeing a couple of threads here dating back a few years that detail exactly what you are envisioning (including photos). I'd have to do a search for them, but yes - that has been discussed before. Here's one of those threads: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11392-howto-stand-like-a-stormtrooper/ -
I troop with voice amplification but I have my Aker amp clipped to the straps that connect both sides of the yoke and the gaskets, which is a similar approach to the standard OT TK method of mounting the speaker behind the chest plate.

Perhaps you can take a touch (less than an inch to be sure), but I personally think you look fine as it. Nothing wrong with broad, intimidating shoulders.\ On a different note, I LOVE that woman's "Don't be a BWB" tank top!
