  1. Thanks Mathias. I will remove more of that return edge . The crack goes very close to the edge so I am afraid I can't stop it 100%. Appreciate your advice! Cheers!
  2. I recently found a crack on the return edge of the chest plate, center of the neck area. I think this happened because i had placed the entire armor assembly on a hanger for a period of time. It put too much stress on the chest plate I am guessing and hence it cracked. It is RS PVC . Can this be somewhat repaired, stopped from cracking further or am I doomed? New chest plate recommended?
  3. Thanks for posting this info. Hope they offer all of the blasters seen on their FB page.
  4. Does anyone own a fully finished DLT-19 from RS Props or has purchased one in kit form from them? If you have any photos or comments please let me know. I am interested to buy one of these but without seeing some photos first I am a bit on the fence. RS kindly answered my initial info request but I haven't heard back from them regarding the photos. They seem to be extremely busy at the moment. Any help is greatly appreciated especially photos of their DLT-19! Thanks.
  5. Excellent work on the end cap lock! Looks great and cool to see it functional. I will try to have a look inside one of my scopes tonight for color confirmation. I think you can get some views of the inside of a real scope on one of usaeatt2's threads or Sith Lords. They have some photo documentation of disassembling a real scope. I will try to locate that for you if I can . I do believe it is just brass though. Keep up the great work. Its nice to see you recording the use of Tino's completion kit. Makes me want to start my next blaster build!
  6. Weathering was supposed to come first but I got anxious to just get it assembled and then see things from there. Couple of late nights to complete but my kids are over the moon with the blasters. Next phase of the project is to work on the masks and LEDs for the eyes. I need to wife to assist with the robes so that might be some time before we can find some solid time to work on them.
  7. Thanks Mark. I will try the coin trick. Hadn't thought of that. Hope to have a go at it tonight. Appreciate your help. I might have more questions if I am ale to take it apart further. Cheers!
  8. Norman, thanks for the tip.my scope has a lot of wear and tear and I missed seeing those screws. I finally understood what you where talking about and undid those tiny screws . That helped the big lens retaining ring unscrew. It was still getting stick but I managed to get it off.thanks a million! Christian, I just had a look at your thread . I hadn't see that before so thanks or pointing it out. Cool to see how you took it apart. I haven't found the other two tiny screws yet but I will check tomorrow. Not sure i will do a complete cleaning like you I'd. Too many parts to mess up and or get how to put back. Appreciate your help.thanks a million too!
  9. Coming along..... Weathering up next to the black painted parts, flat clear coat varnish for the wood and then assembly. Lights and sounds are still questionable. I might just have the kids use a sound card with push button triggers connected to a small speaker amp that will be worn on the belt. Possibly going to using a bicycle light with a strobe effect in the ion funnel/cannister for the time being.
  10. Just wanted to share my latest project to enlist my kids into the wonderful world of Star Wars! First off will be the blasters then the robes and accessories. Not shooting for accuracy but good old fun costumes my kids can enjoy wearing while they accompany me on some troops. Enjoy! If I am posting this in the wrong place, please move it to the appropriate area. Thank you.
  11. Thanks Derrek for the vote of confidence but I am certainly going to mess this up. I will try the spray first and let it sit a day or two as you recommend. The retaining ring is really stuck in place so the material I use to I loosen it will have to be steel or it probably will just bend .
  12. Does anyone know what tool can be used safely to unscrew the retaining rings that hold the lenses in place? The scope I am trying to open up has a lot of corrosion and will probably need some additional persuasion to loosen it up. Maybe some WD-40 or silicone spray, or some mild heat ? I don't want to damage the lenses or strip the metal at all. Any advice on how I should go about this is greatly appreciated.
  13. Looking good! Thats going to be one serious weapon when its done! Certainly post pics of it when you finish it!
  14. Stunning! Beautiful paint job. Going bak over the hammer finish really looks amazing, just enough texture but not over the top.
  15. Nice work on the TD. Good idea using the turning hobby platform & mini clip stand to make your pencil mark for cutting the ends.
  16. It would be interesting to see if someone else had already bought one & built it. Thanks for posting. Always good to see what else is out there.
  17. Very cool! Looks great.sure you could customize it further but as is, can't beat it for the price. Well done!
  18. Congratulations Conrad! Awesome set of armor. Have a great time putting it all together. It is daunting at first but nothing beats the feeling you will have when its all done. Take your time and enjoy! Looking forward to seeing your build progress. All the best.
  19. I have a PVC RS suit and it is great.but I ordered the Anovos armor to have ABS as well without having to fork out the RS price tag for another suit. I do think its a bit in bad form to go and change that now but for the price I guess I shouldn't complain too much. They did say that the suit on the site is a prototype so they sort of left it open to changes like this. I am still happy to be getting one though. Hoping they offer Sandtrooper parts too. There are equal arguments about PVC vs ABS when it comes to durability for trooping. My RS armor was purchased in 2012 and it is very thin and flexible. But a year later I ordered a replacement part and the PVC seemed more rigid, thick and easy to break. Maybe RS changed something. For Anovos, If they keep their prices low enough, and offer replacement parts, then whatever material they offer in th end will be fine and there will be many happy troopers sporting their armor. I just wish they would sell their TFA armor kits at a reasonable price.
  20. Just asked Boba Debt on the RPF and he said it will be cast in brass! And the machined pistons parts too.i think this will be the next best thing to buying a real one for sure!
  21. Sorry I am assuming aluminum. I just left a reply on the RPF to check the actual material used for the recanted scope.my bad for assuming.
  22. Scott, If you go to the RPF forum, search for DL-44 project by Boba Debt. He and another member there are in the works to produce aluminum castings of a real M19 with machined parts , and lenses. No set price yet but so far it is coming along nicely and think they won't cost more than the real ones.....I hope!
  23. Very nice, thanks for posting this.
  24. Thanks Bryan for your kind words. Still some final painting needed but almost at the finish line. Cheers!
  25. I used some to fill some seams on my RS PVC armor but found it started to discolor . Had to remove it. Tried white colored E6000 too but the difference in color was noticeable. Try testing it though, you may have better results. The climate in Japan where I am at has a negative impact on certain materials.
