E-11S - Sniper Rifle
Bulldog44 replied to I'm Batman's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Holy cow! That was a whole lot of holes to drill. Looks like this is going to be a really cool weapon. Excited to follow your build Ian! Best of luck on this. -
Tino, its not fair to post such amazing painting skills on this forum. Totally jealous of your talent!
Truly spectacular results on the bolt. You should be working on movie props for a living!

Aaron, your rusty plunger is a detail many of us have happily replicated. Long live the rusty plunger and the slotted extractor! While brass may not be the correct metal used for the sterling plunger, it sure looks good to mimic a rusty one.

Can't wait to see more on this build!

Should I get the full kit from RS?
Bulldog44 replied to deingesicht's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
The helmet seems daunting but I think if you are able to build it slowly and get the results you want, it will be a wearable trophy. I bought an extra helmet kit afterwards to try it. Going to get my helmet kit started soon. Good luck when you get all your stuff and don't forget to start a build thread. Love to see it all come together! -
Thanks Wesley too for adding your story. Sorry to hear about your situation with the armor and e-11. I had an issue with the helmet when I ordered it from them fully assembled and painted. Paint job was rushed but they were kind to resolve the problem after a few emails. They are probably swamped but totally understand how you feel. I had felt the same after laying out all that money. Keep sending mail to them and I am sure they will help sort you out with some kind of agreeable solution. Cheers.

Thanks Ben for the photos. It does help a lot. First time to see their DlT-19 in detail. Looks great. I will certainly be ordering one in the near future. Really appreciate your help!

Painting And Adding Filler On A Hyperfirm Dlt-19
Bulldog44 replied to Bulldog44's topic in General Weapons Discussion
Hi Richard,

No I haven't tested anything yet as far as fillers to. I am putting off painting until the spring so I might have a stab at it then. My B grade has a lot of areas where you can see the sponge like rubber underneath. Also the obvious areas where things didn't line up properly.
If I do fix those sponge areas. I might try an modelling epoxy and spray the whole thing over.
I recently used the DLt-19 at two events and most people just loved it as it was, thinking it looked real. For now I will leave it until I am sure I can fix it better.as Joseph said, Battle damage is the the way to think about it for now!
In short I should have spent the extra hundred for the clean version. Oh well, expensive lesson learned. Let you know if I come up with a better solution though.
It still is a cool weapon to carry on troops, even with the imperfections. -
Should I get the full kit from RS?

1. RS armor itself does not lack features needed for centurion, (for example the the notch area on the kidney plate- it is already there, no customizing required). To get it up to centurion, there are the smaller details like the split rivets for the AB plate, cap rivets for the knee ammo pack and brass split rivet for the cod, etc. that need to be installed but not easily accessible. Also how you assemble it, making sure the sniper plate is glued on not riveted or the knee ammo belt needs certain cap rivets and installed in the right place . I followed the centurion check list when building my armor so I got it to centurion standard right off the bat. I decided at the time to have RS assemble the helmet and ordered and an extra kit to try myself someday. I am in Japan so shipping is killer but some things you may be able to source locally such the rivets, paints, etc. 2. Time- I second guessed myself the whole process so it took me several months to get done but that is due to my own silly self . You can complete the kit as a beginner in a few months or few weeks time no sweat if you feel confident. I allowed myself a long build time because I knew my skills going into this was minimum to none and didnt want to destroy my very expensive new armor kit. But I did get it done and did it to my preferences so proof you can too. I was going to have RS complete it for me but had heard there are still adjustments sometimes needed when you get it, never a perfect fit. So rather than ripping apart nicely glued armor to make adjustments, I chose to do it my self. No regrets. Lots of help along the way from other members here to get advice and opinions. 3. Happy I completed the kit myself, wish I had done the helmet too myself. It feels great to this day to say I did it myself. I made plenty of mistakes along the way but learned it can be fixed and if not, replaced at an extra cost. Of you have the time, confidence comes with time spent on the build and satisfaction is certain to follow. Just keep on referencing the screenshots, archived lucasfilm armor and ask around. It seems daunting at first but if you aim straight for centurion, you will have no trouble getting it. Just approved centurion this month! Good luck with whatever you choose. Just think about your time frame and willingness to do the research to build your armor centurion accurate. I had zero experience and skills for putting together armor and glad I decided to do it myself. Hope I helped give you some perspective of someone who asked the exact same questions a while back. Good luck in your decision! -
If you take your time and trim everything to look fit, RS armor will serve you well. I somewhat made my arm parts too fitted but it still looks fine . I copied some of the troopers on screen look so not ideal for trooping. Live and learn. Details for RS are for the most part what you see in the movie and will live up to your expectations. Really wonky and bumpy up close but authentic look. Good luck!

I have RS and you can get the armor to fit your size. I trimmed my pretty good to get a fitted look . The only part that looks bulky on me even with the fitted trimming is the AB section. I can't speak for the AP kit but I think it looks good to and can also be fitted to your size. Some people leave a lot of room when fitting their armor making it appear bigger on some parts.

You can even try seeing how the Anovos kit turns out when some members start posting their feedback on the quality and look. Price is much cheaper, $650 for a kit.

Thanks Q! I thought it was great until I saw how many different characters you have in your collection. Crazy cool ! You even have the new TFA trooper! Amazed., Thanks Pete for your kind words! Thanks Ian, its been a fun year with the blaster stuff and this is the cherry on top. Feel like a kid again on Xmas morning unwrapping that first Star Wars figure! By the way it was Walrus man for my first SW figure. Not the most iconic but hey it was lots of fun when I got Old Ben and pretended to chop his arm off repeatedly! Cheers! -

Sometimes changes and or adjustments are suggested so you can look your best. If we had anything to suggest it would be to permanently affix the drop box straps so that the boxes remain in the correct position at all times. Depending on which picture I look at the locations change. Simply glue, snap or velcro those for us.
Congrats again!

Thank you Sir! Best gift of the season! I appreciate you taking the time to review my application and over the moon I have been approved.

Regarding the drop boxes, I will certainly have them in a fixed position aSaP. They have been shifting a bit so I will get that sorted. Once again, many thanks. The circle is now complete. A dream finally come true! Cheers! -
