  1. Not a dumb thought. However when I look at the Hot Toy's Tie pilot, it seems to indicate that I'm right: But we're swaying away from the topic. Apologies Ingrid!
  2. Super work Clint! I missed the update here but luckily it has been widely share through facebook! You've done a killer paintjob, it really brings it to life. Just a thought, do you plan on adding the detail there seems to be on the left hand side of the stock? And also the vertical grooves running around it?
  3. Yes, that's what I'm thinking. When looking at this picture you can cleary see that second return edge under the chest, and there isn't too many possibilities whether what it could be.
  4. Superb work Ingrid! It is looking beautiful. And by the way, that "double chest plate" I was mentionning is in fact just the yoke which should fully embrace the wearer's torso. And that on all the armors, even the stormtroopers.
  5. Excellent! Thanks for sharing that . I'm sure some wizard from the UKG will again manage to make that happen
  6. Now that you mention it, I think you're correct. It's stupid but i didn't even think about that possibility.
  7. Thank you all who took the time to read this . Nop, I just did that to "crop" the holster, just like the sides of the belt . You're missing my point Vern. Not once in this thread I ask for a CRL update as I consider this holster thing just like the two handplate styles. No need to write it in the CRL. It's just a particularity some SW fans like to be aware of.
  8. Amongst all this TFA stuff, I still love watching and scrutinizing this good old Original Trilogy, even more now that I can watch it in its Despecialized Edition . So let us rest our weary minds from TFA the time of this short thread. Most of us have heard at least once of the infamous "Simon's Holster" which has a different profile and is fastened differently onto the belt than the classic ANH holster. This holster is the one fastened onto the belt of the original armor set that belongs to Simon from RS Props. Hence the name "Simon's Holster". Simon's Holster: The same on screen: However, this holster is not unique on screen as I thought it was. Indeed, there is at least one twin of it, possibly two, and both appear during the same scene in ANH. Shortly after Leia, Luke and Han got out of the trash compactor and made their way back to the Millenium Falcon, they notice it is guarded by five stormtroopers. I think you already figured that two of them have this "Alternative holster" I am talking about. Respectively, the second and the fifth from the left: - Let's take a look at the fifth from the left first as it might just be Simon's Holster (and because being the fifth in something, he's certainly more interesting than most ). As I see it, the two fastening straps are overlapping the top of the belt with the straps going on the inside, which when you think about it, is matching the way "Simon's Holster" is fastened. Here's a diagram showing the conversion: Notice the gap between the top of the holster and the bottom of the belt present on "Simon's holster" which then disappears when you loop it around the belt making a perfect match with the Alternative #1 setup. - Now onto the second stormtrooper from the left. This holster seems to overlap the top of the belt too, but with the straps traveling on the outside of the belt. Being on screen in the same scene than the previous alternative holster, we can attest that this one is definitely a second exemplary of this kind of holster. After we can wonder why these holsters are fastened to the belt in a such different way? Maybe it's an attempt of the prop guys to make it stronger so the holster can actually house a real Sterling without getting ripped off after few minutes. Now I know it's only two (possibly three) holsters among thirty others, but I was surprised to see Simon's Holster isn't unique as I believed it and wanted to share it because I did not read anything about it before. I hope you enjoyed the read and found it interesting. Even though when i see how people are already so narrow minded about the number of rivets between the Stunt and Hero holsters, I hope I won't hurt too much feeling by trying to introduce a new holster shape with two different fastening ways! - T5H.
  9. And don't forget "Batman" . And just to be clear, I'm not negative about the kit. I honestly think it will be one of the best among TM and RS. But I'm highly antipathetic with the company.
  10. Welcome to the ranks Ryan! It has been a long time coming
  11. Yeah, Bender already posted this link somewhere in the TFA CRL thread i think. After, did they really supplied the undersuit for the film, I don't know.
  12. Actually, from what I understand, the original mold for the detonator panel deteriorated very quickly along the successive pulls and became softer and softer. The RS detonator is one of those soft pulls, when the AP panel is closer to what the first pulls were when the mold was still in good condition.
  13. Yeah, I know I'm getting rude... But honestly, all this ANOVOS stuff is getting ridiculous, and starts to wear me down. Sorry.
  14. Yep, the sharpness of this kit is really disturbing... But by selling products from a Disney license, they must have a quality control to respect. Even if it's not the way the original armors were.
  15. I don't remember about Han, but Luke holstered for sure his blaster too. Honestly, I say it's a no debat. Just remove the two top rivets or chicago screws and leave the belt like that with two holes. No one cares, it will barely be visible once the belt tightened over white ABS, and you will get your approval and EIB easy.
  16. Unscrew the phillip screws, relocate the clips, screw. Paint the screw heads in black for extra touch. Done. You can get your Centurion. What the hell guys? Aren't you aware that most of us before ANOVOS needed to bend our own clips. Don't get lazy...
  17. Very nice progress. Everything looks done the way ot should .
  18. I think the very first ANH Centurion stormtrooper approved, former Deployement Officer and former Detachement Leader, has two holes in his belt due to a bad holster fastening, yet no one stressed too much about it. To be clear, there is absolutely nothing to worry about if you're belt has extra holes into it. Some belts you can see on ANH screencaps have holes into them because of ripped off holsters.
  19. I'm really looking forward for your vacuum chroming. Good luck!
  20. Very nice! I almost feel like I should get back working on mine. I need to resist... Wait for better reference pics... Damn that's hard!
  21. Yeah, you can also see the "Geisha Balls" part on this picture. Stupid design if you ask me! But in fact this section is supposed to unfold in several sections so the gun can be used as a turret.
  22. Oh come on, the "cute white fluffy bunnies sitting on rainbow next to a cute puppy" TFA kit has been sculted by Kevin Weir from ImperialSurplus (you know, the same you has done those two amazing TFA kid-sized armors). At the time he surely had more reference materials than what we had, but this is certainly not coming from a original 3D file, or 3D scan of anything.... Everyone needs to chill about "cute white fluffy bunnies sitting on rainbow next to a cute puppy". They're certainly not the messiah you would think they are.
  23. They can access all the original parts the RS armor includes. But, having access to the reworked parts, and parts sculpted by Paul from TM seems highly improbable to me because they're pretty much unique. However, once again i would like to say that I don't exclude the possibility of RS working hand-in-hand with ANOVOS on that one. After all, that's what ANOVOS does: selling products of already established sellers.
  24. I agree with you Aaron, I just wanted to clear a little bit this myth like what ANOVOS sells only stuff cast off from original armors. That argument doesn't hold. NE armor is a RS recast yet all the lines are sanitized and sharper. The key thing is to look for specific features the RS armor has, such as very distintive shins, forearms, and other things they had to sculpt (or borrow masters from other people) to complete their original armor.
  25. I don't agree with you on that point. Yes ANOVOS might have had access to the archives, and might have been authorized to take pictures, but I highly doubt they have been able to 3D scan, nor recast anything. So far, every props they're selling are coming from already established FAN-MADE kits. Yes, even their TFA stormtrooper is a fan made sculpt. To name few, they are working with MonCal, Kevin Weir from ImperialSurplus, and certainly other makers for their molds. And lastly, ask any experienced guy in Stormtrooper armors, he will tell you that their OT stormtrooper (at least their prototype) has a lot in common with the RS armor. But of course, they aren't going to advertise about that. Only on their "unprecedented access to Lucasfilm archives". It sounds so much better for customers.
