  1. Glad you got the kit! With a box like that I"m surprised it was actually all still in there! For some reason a lot of the boxes are arriving in conditions like this, and it's very frustrating for everyone involved! I have done a few things to my packing that hopefully will make these a lot more robust and protect the box better. The contents seem to generally get there ok, just the box is wrecked!
  2. I initially plan on doing them in resin. Based on the first casts I will know if I need to do a fiberglass backing to it to keep the structural integrity.
  3. We do have a full on front view, but are holding it back for just now while we work on some details.
  4. 'MERIKA, fugg YEA! I'm American, even though I live in Germany.
  5. Big news, the next to final design is ready. This represents everything we currently know about the helmet as well as some additional parts that in time you will find, are exactly like the screen used ones. We do welcome any inputs you have on the design. The goal is to get it as accurate as possible.
  6. Once something is out in the public, it is impossible to put that genie back in the bottle. All of us carries a bias even if we don't think it is true. Our biases are created by our experiences and absorbed from the people who speak to and things we see.
  7. Not really. Use a nice big washer behind the ABS in the inside, or a rounded piece of ABS so the bolt/nut won't break through in any case. The tips are recessed so generally do not see any stress or tweaking so reinforcing is not really needed. (My opinion)
  8. I did a 50% disassemble of the trigger group when I did the conversion for Dennis, and it's not hard to get this far but still a bit nerving to make sure it goes back together. Going the other 50% would be crazy time. If you want a challenge, take apart your hengstler fully... and put it back together. You will feel like a watch maker. Make sure you have another one on hand to figure where all the parts go back together.
  9. Boohoo for the Billionaire racist. Being a racist is one thing, but being a racist who profits off the back of the race you are against is just hypocritical. Maybe he isn't a racist, maybe he just said something in the moment that was construed as racist. Those who are that far in the public eye aren't allowed the freedom to be who they want to be. They need to be what the people who pay him want him to be. Freedom is not free, and the FISD is allowed to do whatever it wants. If people don't agree they are welcome to leave. Not the greatest policy, or a sustainable one if FISD management decided to be crazy, but it always has that option. If you have a financial investment in the forums you might have a say in how it is run.... might.
  10. Yup, sounds the same but is different.
  11. Also keep in mind that from wha tI have recently seen the RS PVC armors made as of mid 2014 are a thicker PVC. I don't know 100% this is always the case but the suit I had that was bought mid 2014 and words from several others is that the PVC armors have been pretty thick, which lowers the flexibility. But, it's heavier so feels more like armor. I would ask them personally how thick the PVC is. Dan's advice is perfect. Pure white = PVC, screen accurate = ABS. Don't get the wrong idea. ABS is shiny, and looks white. Go to the EIB/Centurion section and look at some photos of the RS submissions.
  12. Zap a gap will hold it on good. Any sort of good epoxy glue will work. If you feel it might not hold hard enough you can also put some stabilizers in there. Like a nail or part of a pop rivet.
  13. Awesome, so whats the plan, make an ANH/ESB combo?
  14. Dennis, I love that you keep taking shots and keeping this thread alive! It helps to point folks who just joined or missed it, and so I never lose it
  15. That is not the link you are looking for. Move along.
  16. They make paint markers with a 0.8mm tip that I think would work good. I haven't used them on the border lines as I have had pretty good results with a nice file tip brush. I will lay out a complete black layer over the entire spot, then a gray layer on top of this. All you see after this is a nice fine black line and you only need 1 layer of gray since the back acts as a primer layer. What I have used the sharpee or paint pens for is the straight lines on the tears and rear traps. I get a nice straight line running this against a ruler.
  17. The topic comes up frequently. I was lucky enough to post mine at a time when there weren't many others around so it really took off. You will find the same recurring themes there. Screen accurate, set accurate, "reality" accurate and a mix of all of the above.
  18. This photo it seems that the holster is too long on the top end. The attachment strips look ok but the holster itself looks to be too long and too soft. ----------- Maybe ABS or thick leather on the back to reinforce it like Gazmosis suggested. I don't think relocating it will fix the problem.
  19. Brandon is spot on with the branding change. I have spoken with Lou about this as well. When I bought the molds I was given the freedom to modify and change anything I wanted. However, when you think about it, after a certain number of molds have been updated with original parts it really is no longer a kit from the original maker in anything beyond name. So I am looking to change the name to my own setup once a magical new parts kit arrives at my doorstep. Phoenix Props is the name I have chosen for my enterprise into not just E11's but everything I do in the future. So, it will likely be the PP E11 kit. PP for Phoenix Props, or PewPew, as you like... The community here and the support from everyone has been key in the evolution of this kit, so thank you to everyone who has bought one and helped me advance the setup and the kit every step of the way.
  20. It is interesting that this topic got a hit recently! I have it on authority that there is indeed a surprise awaiting a lot of people regarding the helmet. Roy is currently working on updating and furthering the design we originally posted. So... stay tuned.
  21. FISD is not a public place, the freedom of speech does not apply. It is a private forum where the admins can make any rules they want and are not required to answer to anyone but themselves. While this is not what they strive for and would make a bad forum that people who not come to, but they are not held by the freedom of speech rules. They can censor, edit and delete to their hearts content. Especially if the comments are inflammatory, derogatory, repeated or just plain mean. I don't know what happened, so I can't say that you are part of the above things. This place is private property and the owner/administrators has the right to refuse service to anyone they want.
  22. Arnie, if you want, I have an extra backplate from KW left over from our garrison run I'd sell to you for shipping costs.
  23. Good job reforming the channels on the nose! You must have gotten a set of bolts from Tinos earlier runs, since he is now using the bolts I've got in his current kits. His kits are really a great deal for the accuracy they add and for the amount of work put into assembling them.
  24. TM is a great set of armor to build. There is no doubt about that!
  25. constant checking is the answer
