  1. Congrats, been watching your build and will be using some of your ideas, go forth and concour
  2. Got a couple of bits painted. Getting the electronics ready to go inside. Couple of cooling fans and a small amp, love cheap kids toys, made a few mods, has a delay click and made a finger switch, just need a couple of plugs now
  3. Hovi's painted and assembled Padding is in and also adjustable chin strap
  4. I have read a couple of posts with the holes in the folding stock are drilled with a flat tipped drill bit but only shallow drilled to give the illusion of there being holes but still having the strength for the glueing.
  5. I myself think anh was the one I will always remember, seeing the film at the drive in as a teen when it first came out. If star wars was remade like other films I believe the stormtroopers would look quite a lot more advanced. It wasn't just what George Lucas had in his mind, or what anything could be made out off but also who was making it and what their interpritation of what the armor would look like. It's a bit like looking at how much more advancef the last three movies were when you compare them with the originals, for me they were too advanced, even the clone troopers seemed more defined. I suppose it's and individual thing, what you like and what you think they should look like.
  6. How cool, well worth the effort
  7. Thanks, could have gone futher but think I would just do a complete scratch build if I did, it is cool to get the insides, blaster sounds and lights out of a hasbro. It is still very light so should hang well in the holster, unlike some metal builds. I am glad I added the laser in the front, looks cool at night when you shoot something
  8. Last couple of pics with the satin clear coat, not very good quality pics need a better camera.
  9. thank you all, helmet was a little to ones side, checked ears they seem the same thickness
  10. OMG I hate ears, sooooooooooo much sanding just to get them sitting roughly flush. Cut my visor, made a piece of double metal mesh, thick and dark, also glued a few pieces inside to mount the visor.
  11. While waiting for my blaster to dry I decided to take the plunge and start trimming my helemt. Think most people are worried about cutting their helmet the first time around. Think it is going ok so far just needs a bit more finishing sanding on the ears
  12. So while waiting for my blaster to dry I thought I would take the plunge and start trimming my helmet. I think everyone is a bit worried the first time they attempt putting one together. Think it is going ok so far, found lots of info on the site so thanks everyone for posting
  13. Pretty happy with the way the blaster looks in the dark, nice red glow
  14. Kept putting off weathering the blaster today, was a bit worried how it would look but I decided just to try weathering where it would be held and put down and kept, think it worked out ok. Hope its warm tomorrow and I can give it a clear satin coat to stop further weathering.
  15. Putting up with the smell of paint all night was worth it blaster is dry and t tracks are glued on, now just have to experiment with a bit of weathering.
  16. Going to be a long wait for the paint to dry, cold wet outside and the smell of paint inside \
  17. Last of the silver bits
  18. Thanks, I forgot to take that picture, I cut the stock underneath between the holes and made and glued a piece of abs chanel a little longer than what was needed for strength. Then used bondo, sanded and got the dremel out to make some new holes underneath, was pretty easy once you know the right length needed.
  19. T Tracks all done, hope its a warmer day for painting tomorrow
  20. Started to post some picks of my blaster build on the Terra Australis Garrison forum and thought I should post some here for outer towners Purchased my blaster a while ago, just got my doopey add on bits. Got most of my blaster bits together and separated the blaster with not a lot of damage. Going to put a few trick light bits into the blaster try to make it look more realistic when it fires. Also thinking of changing a few bits, length of barrel, trigger and guard. Got a couple of bits done, trying to make the hasbro look more realistic, more for me than anyone else. End of sight done still needs final paint, trimmed down blaster, made new trigger and cover, glued on one side so I can still separate if I need to Trimmed off old pipe, cut and drill the correct size one and glue it into the Hasbro housing. And here fitted with a few of the doopy resign parts. Just waiting for my laser pointer to finish assembling the blaster then on to paint. After finding power from the switch on the Hasbro was not as much as I wanted I decided to add and aditional swith which can take the full 3 volts and change the lights I was going to use highbright led's. Next after pulling apart my laser pointer I was left with the part identical size to what I needed to fit into the end of the blaster tip. This is the lights and you can just make out the laser light on the board, works great in the dark, will give the illusion that who ever you are firing at has the blast showing on them. A couple more bits made and glued on the blaster, next it's time to fill, sand and get to painting. Now in primer Next silver. Waiting for armor is like watching paint dry lol Still have to bend the ends of the T Track before I can apply the black
  21. Looking good, thanks for posting, just about to start putting mine together and was worried at first, now it all seems clear
