I have two sets of bubble lenses, both about the same, I can only really see through the corners but I got used to it pretty quickly.

How about posting your build here on FISD, many of us don't use FB and it would help others looking at purchasing the kit. -
Welcome aboard troops

Sorry to hear the news, hope things improve for you. It's hard finding old armor/helmets as many use them for death troopers or other builds but good luck

DSS TROOP REPORT EVENT: Dream Night LOCATION: Perth Zoo DATE: 17th February 2017 TIME: 5:30pm - 7:30 ish LANDSCAPE/WEATHER: Hot, outdoors TROOPERS: TR13310 - Liz - Liz TK85421 - Q - gmrhodes13 TK98311 - Peter - Heinous SL51164 - Stuart - DV64 ID59226 - Jerry - jezzapm IG21897 - Johnathan - ImperialKanos TK24812 - Trevor - StormieT TI22414 - Sinead - sinurt Wrangler: Em - Mrs Vader Marie Recruits: Rebecca - agreencow REPORT: The troops started arriving around 4:30 and met up in the nice and air conditioned zoo change area. Once we all kitted up we made our way over to Zoo HQ where we hid and waited for the crowds to arrive. Once a sufficient crowd had arrived we then went out to meet the kids. We were promptly greeted by lots of excited kids (and adults) who wanted pictures and high fives (a few also wanted to steal our guns). We were also asked by the St John Ambulance guys to pose for some pictures with them around the ambulance and plenty of the zoo staff wanted pics too. There was a live weather cross by Seven News at the event and we were all asked to hang around behind the camera while they were live, M'Lord was a bit camera shy and spent most of the time hiding at the back!! Smile We had more pictures taken afterwards and Q and Peter had one little girl thoroughly amused by pretending the buttons on their chest pieces actually worked so she continued to press them while her mum took a well earned break!! Later in the night we were asked to go over to the Carousel at the zoo and were followed over by lots of excited kids who wanted to ride the carousel with some stormtroopers. Q somehow managed to get onto on of the horses while most of the others played safe and stood but great fun was had by all. We finished off around 7:30 as it was getting a bit dark but overall it was a really great night. INJURIES: Liz was bitten on the finger by one child, who we later found out was a serial bitter after having bitten several members of PAC too!! Where do I buy a bow trim?
gmrhodes13 replied to Stormy3D's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
You could try Trooperbay https://trooperbay.com/trooper-helmet-brow-trim -
Well good question, I do have both, good and bad points with either or them but it depends on what event I am going to as to which set I wear. I find the fabric gaskets are a lot cooler and easier to move but they really don't fill the armor gaps as the rubber ones do. Rubber does fill the armor gaps well but cuts down on your movement and makes you sweat more, they do look so much better though. The public doesn't notice the difference but I do, so for a cannon or high profile troop I will wear rubber and then the fabric for most other troops. If you can afford it, I'd suggest both.

FOTK Need help tried to repaint but failed
gmrhodes13 replied to ForeverWild's topic in TFA Stormtrooper
Really you would want to sand the whole area with some wet and dry sandpaper, I would do it with water and use a 400 grit paper, or you could start with a little rougher paper around a 240 grit then go over again with 400 grit. You may find that it just keeps peeling and you may have to sand off all of the paint, it's seems rustoleum is quite soft. I do find you need to prep the plastic really well before applying paint, make sure you scuff it all with sandpaper before applying paint. I used an automotive acrylic paint and then cleared which I have found to be a lot stronger than rustoleum. -
Need tips and tricks for making armor
gmrhodes13 replied to Hansolo227's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Hello and welcome, not a lot of guys make armor from scratch it's a lot of work, most purchase ABS plastic kits, lots of info in the Getting Started Section. Those that do make their own in various ways, one is from pepakura files, then you have to coat in resin and bondo, lots can be found on the RPF, here's a helmet build http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=122443 Some even sculpt their own plugs and vacform themselves, it's also a very time consuming process and can be costly -
AM for a small trooper, and accurate?
gmrhodes13 replied to Stormy3D's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
AM is definitely for the bigger trooper, I know of some troopers slightly taller than you who struggle with armor from makers of smaller armor. -
Newbie in need of some help
gmrhodes13 replied to Captain_Tea's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Hello and welcome aboard, perhaps post a few photos that would help. You can use slightly larger cover plates but not excessive. You may find overall the armor is too small for your frame, there are makers out there that specifically make armor for particular sizes. -
