  1. I also own an MTK bucket! its got sharp lines and basically what you want in a stomrtrooper helmet!
  2. Instead of using any padding just cut and resize them. overall it will be a better look as there will always be a gap with padding on. Plus movie TKs did not have padding they were fitted to the skin
  3. The FX Helmet is basically the grandfather helmet of the 501st legion. In the 90s and pretty much the whole decade of 2000 it was what 90% of what the legion wore. Its ugly, inaccurate look made everyone cringe and realize there is way more better helmets out there. The legion I hope no longer accepts these, we are very close to ridding them out completely! It's bad because its a poorly made fansculpt and the legion was cursed with ugly TKs. No real specifics of why as its just all wrong in every way.
  4. If the Tks change slightly every year then obviously in 30 years they are gonna look different. ROTJ troopers and ANH troopers don't look like eachother at all. The helmet is almost a completely different shape. I notice starwars fans hate change no matter what. We should be happy there even is stormtroopers in EP 7 They coulda gone a different path. Things change and you have to deal with it.
  5. You need to order ESB decals and replace the ones on your helmet. ESB decals are different then ANH. Those tube stripes are both for ANH.
  6. You need to replace those ANH decals with ESB decals. WHich means changing the traps, tears, tube stripes, and painting two black rank bars on each ear.
  7. AP is your best bet. He even sometimes sells cheaper "B" grade helmets and you can get them pre trimmed with all the holes drilled out and cut out ready for easy assembly.
  8. He says in the post thats its from walmart and he gives a link in the very beginning of this post.
  9. Sorry to hear your helmet was stolen, that's terrible! At least it was just an MRCE lid. There are alot more accurate kits out there nowadays
  10. I agree! of course theres gonna be change but humans fear change. We have to embrace it! I like it its great looking for 30 years into the future! I just can't wait to own a set of my own!
  11. Yep that's true, I need to trim one of my ears down it's too fat but of course I don't know how to approach it yet.
  12. That's great that the ears come trimmed, good for beginners cause the NE helmet is where beginners mess up on ears.
  13. No one has ever said it doesn't meet 501st requirments. All suits can with a bit of modifying. Even Jedirobe can. I've seen many people with SDS armor in the legion some hadn't replaced the plastic belt yet either. I'd rather have people wearing SDS then the ugly FX.
  14. Why not just transfer to which ever garrison is closest to you when you move? If there is an expiditionary garrison what city or region does it cover? I feel like the 501st legion is one great garrison with smaller garrisons to tell you what garrison your living in. Which is why its a legion. If people from around the world are in the one garrison will your garrison ever have a troop together? You might not ever meet your fellow garrison members.
  15. THe biggest differences is the chest plate. pick which chest plate looks better. The ATA chest plate looks waaaay off to the originals. The AP isn't too close, but it looks more like the original chest. CAPW is basically exactly the same as ATA just sharper and a different plastic. Ap helmet is just as good as a starter kit as ATA if not better because you can order it pre trimmed with every hole already drilled and ready for assembly. Ap has been around longer than ATA but it comes down to the chest piece really. they both look completely different.
  16. Your shins are not supposed to be fully glued closed. You're just like everyone else! no one can fit there foot through shin armor, its impossible! It goes coverstrip in front and hooks and elastic to close it in the back, or a simple velcro closure which tons of people use, both acceptable!
  17. That helmet comes with untrimmed ears anyways but so far it looks good and good luck with those ears! I've only seen very few make the ears on an NE helmet look right and not huge.
  18. Fully agree with rouge trooper and smiling fox, we worked so hard on getting the FX helmet rid of from the legion with all these new screen accurate TK vendors. I'm excited for the series but wow did he single handedly destroy the look of the TK. I think it will be odd going to troops and here you have all the movie style TKs then one odd looking animated stormtrooper of the bunch... and the public WILL see a difference in an animated TK compared to a Real TK. I think anyone can kids will too. I think its actually wrose than the FX. At least the FX and the MRCE lid has the same basic shapes of an original helmet. The animated TK has everything off about the shapes of the eyes, tubes, tears, traps, even the vocoder!
  19. Before both of you cut off the top of the leg and mess up the shape of your thighs wait until you have you AB and COD fully strapped to you so you know where you can place your legs. You have alotta room between your shin and thigh it can be lowered slightly to fix it without modding the shape of your armor.
  20. Stormtroopers in the movies did not have any return edge at all on the biceps. That's how my set up is too. I suggest you remove them completely.
  21. There is still tons of people who use FX buckets, at least one in every garrison. But not as much as before. I still hope for a day were we don't use FX and its nothing but accurate TKs.
  22. You aslo have the replace the mic tips. And you don't have to replace the drop boxes the just order the backs of them!
  23. Just get an RS kit instead of fully built its cheaper than an SDS and you will have the most accurate armor available. Don't listen to the SDS website, all they did is recast AP armor and its got much softer details. Basically all the armors available came from one derived suit except TM CFO RT-MOD and RS. ALl the others ATA MTK CAP-W TE TE2 AP BFA CTM MONCAL are all derived from TE armor. All with subtle differences. Just pick any of those so much more to offer than SDS
  24. The armor is not FX. Looks either like CAP, or even a TE2. its a great set of armor! although I wouldn't recommend buying a 'practice' set. The RS and its cut lines will be completely different on they join cause of the origins so this TE derived armor won't help with problems of RS. Besides, you won't get the practice you need with this armor, even if you rip it apart just to reglue it, cause all your doing is re glueing it. It won't help you with assembling the helmet either.
  25. I have trooped like this before with speaker on belt simply because its heard better and I don't have lots of room on the chest armor
