  1. Congratulations Michael! I look forward to seeing the build thread.
  2. WOW Fantastic job! That is the best one I've seen! Is there a way to work in some fans?
  3. For $45.00 I'll sell you my old FX helmet. Certainly looks better than that.
  4. Hey Walt, Does your guy have any scraps of white ABS he could send me? I need to make some ABS paste to fix a couple of cracks in my armor and the only thing I can find around here is black ABS. I really shouldn't need that much. Thanks for any help you can provide.
  5. That looks just like my first set of armor. With some work, that set can be made into a nice set of armor. I would recommend TM or RS Props for the helmet.
  6. I guess chronologically you would start with the Ep. II clones and then go to Ep. 3,4,5, and 6 to show the evolution of the helmets. The RMQ was just a concept and never made the movies, so the question is: Do you want strictly movie helmets or everything in between? The animated helmets are just that. They are animated versions of the movie helmets. Eventually, they started to look like the clones from Ep. III If I were doing this, I would start with the phase 1 clones from Ep. II and go from there.
  7. I still have all of my figures with weapons. I have the TIE fighter, land speeder, troop transport, Slave 1, snow speeder, a couple of the mini vehicles, speeder bike, Jabba, snow walker, Imperial attack base playset. I had the Death Star, droid factory, Dagobah playset, Mos Eisley cantina and much more to list here, but the years have not been good to them. Lost most of the pieces and eventually they got thrown out by my parents. I never had the Falcon or the X-Wing, but my younger brother did, so it was no problem for me when I wanted them to play with.
  8. At some point you may want to get a balaclava or skull cap to keep the sweat off of your face. I use a balaclava, even with fans, because it also helps keep my mic in place without having to tape it to my face. My $.02
  9. I really like the tape on the bicep. Should I start wearing that on mine? You know, so I can look like the movie troopers
  10. Even when I didn't have an Aker amp, no one said that I didn't sound like a stormtrooper, they just had a harder time hearing me. Definitely go with some sort of amp, it makes a huge difference and you won't have to yell for the people to hear you.
  11. Some of it looks like FX armor. It's not a really great pic, so some of it is hard to identify. I'm sure someone else here will be able to identify more. Personally, I wouldn't bother getting this to practice on. Go ahead and get a good set of armor and take your time building it. There are lots a good build threads here and many knowledgeable folks to answer your questions. Good luck!
  12. Definitely the Tantive IV scene! That's where I first fell in love with the TK armor.
  13. There are several members from the Golden Gate Garrison attending SDCC. Sadly, I am not one of them Not sure if they are in armor though.
  14. Looks good but you'll probably want to include some pics of the interior strapping. Overall, great job!
  15. The only 2 that I know of that can be pre-made for you are Troopermaster and RS Props. The price may be a bit high, but considering that these suits will be EIB and Centurion ready out of the box, either one is more than worth the money. I love my TM suit. It fits great and I have had no problems with it whatsoever. Contact Troopermaster(aka Paul) here on the forums and see what the lead time and pricing are. RS Props you can contact through their website and I know they will assemble it for you. Just make sure that you provide your correct measurements with whoever you decide to go with. Good luck!
  16. I use an Aker amp and it is only velcroed under the chest. It sounds good, and when most people hear it, they are shocked. They think it's coming from the mic tips in the helmet.
  17. That would be nice if he did choose to use the 501st. However, if they did, it would likely fall to the guys in the UK Garrison. I don't see them paying for a bunch of US stormtroopers to fly across the pond. We can always dream.
  18. Posted Today, 12:20 PM i just dont want to be the smelly trooper. I understand. No one wants that, but if you follow the advice given here, you should have no problems. One thing I forgot to mention is that I wear an underarmor T-shirt under the black suit. It adds that extra bit of fabric to get the sweat instead of going straight to the undersuit. I know on hot days you really don't want layers but it isn't that much.
  19. First, I wear deodorant and keep some in my bin for those especially hot troops. I wash my under suit, neck seal, glove liners,(because I wear the rubber gloves), and balaclava after every troop just so things don't get too smelly. I have fans set up in my helmet to cut down on the sweating there. I have seen cooling vests that are supposed to keep your core at a constant temperature, but they can be a bit expensive, not to mention a little bulky. Anyway, that's what I do.
  20. The back of the shoulder bridge is not permanently attached, but rather held in place by an elastic band. Check out some of the EIB or Centurion applications. There will be pictures there showing the elastic band,
  21. Trooperbay has Testors, in small bottles though not tubes.
  22. Congrats on winning 2 eBay auctions! I've never been able to win anything on there. With regards to your purchases, well the blaster looks good. Keep that one for sure. The armor on the other hand doesn't look that great. It is really good that they are willing to work with you to return it. I've seen guys on here trying to return stuff, only to be ignored. Definitely check out the armor makers on this site when you have a chance. There are some REALLY GOOD sets available. Good luck!
  23. Assuming you don't already do this, if you do then just disregard, but try wearing a balaclava. I have a rather tight fitting one and while I don't wear glasses, it does hold my mic in place without having to use tape. It might help in keeping the glasses in place. I have a fan system in my helmet that keeps the lens from fogging up.
