  1. me likey the stands very nice subtle contrast with the charcoal hammered. I picked up a stand from Doopys that has the Imperial Cog. I used Silver spray paint and then hand painted black the cog section. I then went with stickers for my TK ID and nickname. worked out nice. Excellent Work!
  2. It is FISD, the collective of outstanding Troopers helping Troopers, that has allowed me this privilege. I am Proud to be a part of this fine Detachment and honoured to be part of the Centurion Ranks!
  3. I had 50 1/2" by 1/8" I got form a local retailer for about $35. They came in real handy when my "Clamps" would not reach those longer runs. I would often double them up on each side of the part I was gluing. I will say they I would have rather of had 25-30 1" size if I had to do it over again. that added surface area would have come handy. The one problem is that being N48->N52 strength, you gotta be REAL careful, as they will jump up and snack on your fingers faster than you can blink. It aint pleasant. Another issue is that if you are not paying attention, they will jump to each other. Why is that a problem? well, the force is strong with them and then come together so fast that they tend to chip and break. I have at least a dozen in pieces, and another 20 with little chunks missing. I should have pre-wrapped them in painters tape. Plenty of sellers on eBay, and if you check your local hardware or woodworking suppliers, you may find them.
  4. Thanks Glen and Charlie (great name btw). Keith (bigironvault) and I had Centurion as the goal from the very beginning and 6+ months of research and reading reading and more reading has finally paid off!! Now its time to take a breather and then work on the little recommended tweaks and troop more to make sure everything is feeling and holding together well!
  5. That vocoder has haunted me from day 1. I repaired once thinking I had the right brush. Finally got the right one and tried o touch up. But your right. It needs work. What is the best/safe paint removal method? 2. No problem on the frown, easy fix. 3. Can you clarify on the ears? Is it a paint issue? My hands are not so steady. But I can retry when a touch up is needed. 4. Painting the hengstler brass is another easy 5min fix. I dunno why I chose to not Paint it. Facepalm. 5. I'll see what I can do on the thighs, that's the one I want to take my time and do right.
  6. Whoohoo! Canadian Garrison Centurion #2!
  7. Thank you Matthias very much for the approval and feedback. I will work to integrate the recommendations as my work schedule allows, as well as, I gotta put a bit more Family time on the priority list. It's an honor to be part of the Centurion ranks. I will do all I can to share what I learned/am learning to try to bring more folks to the Centurion level. Again. Thank you for the suggestions and support. TK-Clamps is a happy trooper!
  8. Thanks everyone, fingers crossed! In my excitement to post, I forgot to put ANH Stunt in the title of the thread. Perhaps a moderator or Matthias can correct this once he sun rises over the pond. Have a great night.

  10. fingers crossed that I have not missed anything
  11. yeah man, it was worth the slow process on the 5 out of 6 I used the dish-soapy water. the one I didn't was a PITA!
  12. And here we have them applied. these are a pain in the but thin. I tried ONE decal without using the soapy water install method Mike shows on his site and it was a pain i the but as I could not get some bubbles out. The other 5 I used the soapy water method and they were much easier to get right IF I have done my homework, this should be my last step in Centurion preparation. Time to suit up and see if I am up to standard!
  13. Matte Clear is the plan! I tried hitting the scope with the sand paper, not liking the result, I will try a different grit to see if I can achieve the desred results. The scope was flat black. Second question for you Vern, the pins on the Hengstler... I am a terrible solder guy. If I wanted to pull those pins out and insert the wiring into the subsquent hole, how do the pins come out, do they just pull out, I tried but they don't really budge at all. thx cb
  14. the increased feedback may be because you have moved from a unidirectional pickup pattern mic to a omnidirectional.. We'll fiddle with it on Saturday to see if we can get it to behave. then we can work on mine (until I get a better mic solution).
  15. which headset did you buy as a replacement for the original one?
  16. PS: I plan to hit this with a very light Matte clearcoat to seal it up once I put the finishing touches on the weathering. I need to wait a few days to get comfortable with the look. YEAH!!! now this one is wrapping up, I need to start deciding what my next weapon will be.
  17. I truly hope so, that is why I did not post until I get it looking right, as weathering with paint is way easier than with the real scope... Any advice on how to do that right would be greatly appreciated. Yes indeedy, thanks to Vern for making that a reality for me!
  18. Whew! that just validated the exact process that I followed to make that work on my build! Thanks Vern! Craig, looking forward to seeing your updates!
  19. Clamps is back in town and on a mission to get things tweaked out for Centurion submission this weekend. Last three items on the checklist: 1. Finish up Resin Blaster (see resin blaster build thread). 2. Boot scuffs (taken care of on troops 1) 3. Hand Painted (or hand painted style decals) for the bucket. For now, I am going the decal route, so here is step one. Not since Day one has my bucket felt so naked: Here is what is to come tomorrow evening Almost there!!
  20. Alrighty then, I am back from my work trip and its time to put this build back in motion. So, essentially, I have painted, assembled and had a crack at some light weather. Please note that I was not happy with how the weathering was comign on the REAL scope, so I have temporarily placed the Resin scope on the build. Once I am happy with the real deal I will swap it out.
  21. Congrats...nice fitting kit!
