  1. The sole is too thick and the toe is square not round like proper TK boots should be. You can't remove the front stitch because that is what is holding the front piece on to the second. The sides are not elastic but leather and that would cost you more to replace than just buying the proper boots to begin with. There are no shortcuts to doing it correctly the first time. If you are looking for cheap, you are more than likely to get cheap and have to replace it to be approved.
  2. Because now they are bad guys and Disney bad guys are always bumbling idiots. We wouldn't want to change a winning formula, that would just ruin it for all the 6 year old kids watching. Real Star Wars fans are not their concern any more.
  3. It's not Disney's fault. The blame for this ugly atrocity rests squarely on the shoulders of Dave Filoni. Having said that, I could almost be okay with the armor, as a different version of our TK. It looks a bit more streamlined and possibly a bit more comfortable with more mobility. But not that helmet. It's as ugly as Filoni's hat.
  4. It is a scout but it will be found at the Spec Ops Detachment. There is at least one I know of in the 501st.
  5. I love how the "finished" photo shows the lenses painted black. That just proves it's screen accurate. Luke Skywalker did say he couldn't see a thing out of the helmet, now we know why.
  6. I went with full faced motorcycle helmet padding inside. It is velcroed in. It looks great inside and fits wonderfully. I would only recommend it if you have a lot of room inside (a small head or large helmet) as it doesn't leave a bunch of room after installation.
  7. There is one for sale on the Rebel Legion Forum.
  8. It wasn't a matter of Filoni having the wrong helmets on which to base his designs. It has everything to do with him wanting to make something his own. He has said as much in the past when he talked about how cool it was people were making the armor he designed. He wanted to make things as cartoonish and different as he could and doesn't care a bit about how it effects the people trying to stay true to the movies. His ego fueled this ugliness. I have heard over and over how much these new helmets look like the McQuarrie designs. But they are still ugly as sin. And frankly, you can talk all day long about how awesome McQuarrie's designs were but in the end, that is not what ended up on screen. The guy has no respect for the work people have put into making costuming as accurate as possible. As if the clones weren't ugly enough, he made them uglier. And now he has taken the most iconic figure (next to Vader, of course) and ruined the look. Sorry for the rant but this jerk and his designs have really made me question whether or not I even want to be a fan, let alone continue costuming.
  9. I love this idea. Although I am no longer active military, I literally live 5-6 hours from another trooper. It is pretty tough to be alone without close support.
  10. Neither were the original Stormtroopers. They were actors, extras and stuntmen. They were paid. I would never say no to getting a part in the movie, but I am just fine with not destroying my own armor to take the falls those troopers are sure to take. As Cristian pointed out, there are way too many variables for them to use 501st. I am happy to do what we do and let them do what they do.
  11. Try the RPF. I am sure someone there has info on them.
  12. I agree. It's the only line people seem to remember and it's their way to interact with us. If they are doing it to be annoying (which happens), I just ignore them or simply say, no. I'm 5'6" so I understand completely how annoying it is. But like Brian said, even tall troopers have to hear it so it isn't anything personal (usually).
  13. I tell people there are several armor makers who make the raw armor. We then have to build it into the costume you see here. Or I tell them it is standard Imperial issue. Depends on how I feel that day and if they are annoying me or not.
  14. Amazon = eBay The armor is not good, leave it be. Go with AP.
  15. I would stay away from CA Boots. They are very inaccurate. They may pass basic clearance but you'll wind up spending more later on better boots. TK Boots are the best out there but may take a while to get. They are worth the wait. The third option here is a bit more pricey but doesn't look too bad.
  16. It is the Supreme Edition. At least they don't claim it's 501st approved. That's more honest than many.
  17. On behalf of those annoyingly, agile scouts, you're welcome.
  18. How much are these going for?
  19. That is the ugliest helmet! But if I had some extra money I'd buy it, just for the historical value.
  20. Considering the way the stormtroopers on that show look, it seems as fitting a weapon as could be.
  21. This guy has been trying to sell that armor for months. The price has dropped substantially since he started.
  22. This looks horrible. Dave Filoni is ruining the look of Star Wars.
  23. I'd like to have some of those prop pieces, though.
  24. I'm not arguing for decals on armor. I was simply asking why one group stands out among others. As I said, the point of the Stormtrooper armor is that every Stormtrooper looks alike. No offense to the UKG, I just think all TK's should be the same.
  25. I don't mean to be "that guy" but why does one garrison have decorations on their armor and no one else can? I thought the point of the Stormtrooper armor was that we all looked alike, without anyone standing out (armor variations aside).
