  1. As stated above you're in that sweet zone for any screen accurate armor. I'm 5'6" 165 lbs and MTK fit me perfect with minimal trimming.
  2. Would have killed for this as a kid. All I had coming up was that awful kenner and even at 9 years old I wondered why the folding stock was missing. Toys just keep getting better and better.
  3. Gorgeous build. Everytime I see use of the original strapping it just adds that extra level. Incredible work here.
  4. I think what you're looking for is a common standard but every body type is different. Make them snug so they're comfy and fit but not so loose that they look silly. Like mentioned before you'll want a garter system to hold up the thighs. They'll never stay up on their own. If you need some reference for the garter I'd be happy to send you some pictures of how I made mine.
  5. Gonna put some in and give this a try. The "pop" drove me nuts all day saturday. Thanks vern.
  6. I know exactly what you mean. It's like anything else. You find it when you stop looking.
  7. That position looks good. I have mine glued so the front is more parallel with the front strip. I had the same problem you are having though. The worst part is I'm short so it gets caught up under the thigh armor alot. If you make sure that it's glued nice and tight against that shim you should be fine.
  8. Seems super shady. I would put my money on un-legit.
  9. Tyler Fox 5492 Centurion Letter
  10. Huh. I'll have to ask around the Garrison and see if this is one of ours. I haven't seen anything on the JG boards. Ć©Ā¢Ć§ā„¢Ā½Ć£ā€ž!
  11. Nice work with the comparison. I too have been interested to see how the NE holds up against another maker. If I am completely honest, I'm not impressed. It still appears to be larger than the AP. I feel like this is especially shown in the front comparison. Also, as you said, I'm a stickler and prefer the one piece cap and back. But that is just one opinion and you still did and excellent job with the photos!
  12. Looks good as-is to me. You could take a little more off in the back if you feel frosty but I'd say you're pretty much set.
  13. Man, that is awesome! I always like the scouts but I they just seem to lack a good standard weapon other than that holdout blaster. This is the best idea I have seen. Nice!
  14. I honestly cannot speak for the bracket method as I have no experience with it. I have seen though that on some people it causes the armor to "pull" in those areas. In other words you can see where the bracet screws are stretching the return edge noticeably when it's worn. I have also seen people use it with great success although it seems to me that it would, indeed, be more possible to crack over time. I use the system of webbing snap plates and I will never go back. I don't know who turned me on to it here but once I used it I was amazed at the ease and the strength of the plate as opposed to plastic. Not that there is anything wrong with plastic snap plates. However, one issue I always ran into with the plastic was that the metal snap sticks out just enough so that it is difficult to actually get the plastic to glue down around it. The webbing solves this issue and allows for the full area of the snap plate to be secured down. All in all I would say snaps are more reliable and functional than brackets and webbing plates are much more reliable than plastic. (those with brackets please don't be too hard on me and correct me if I am off)
  15. Clean build. Very impressive work. I will be following your career with great interest.
  16. I just wanted to piggy back on everyone else and say that those ears are 100% completely salvageable. If I had seen the pics first I would have had no idea what the issue was. Those gaps in the back are not only common, as has already been said, but fairly abundant in alot of screen captures that you can find. Keep working on them and remember to take breaks. Sometimes when you are working on armor you can get "white vision" and it takes stepping away and coming back to see what's really going on and what needs to be done. Here's a few: Bazinga! Gaps!
  17. I really think your best bet here would to be resell that kit when it arrives and then get yourself a kit made of correct material. I realize you will have to do a little more waiting but I promise you it will be worth it. You can definitely get more for your hard earned money than...that. Try here if you haven't already: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/
  18. As many of you may already know, today in Boston, Massachusetts, two bombs exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon killing at least 3 and wounding over a hundred. As an American citizen, and American service member, and just as a human being, I am saddened and disgusted by this act of cruelty and terror. I ask all of my brothers and sisters in the 501st and the FISD to please pray for the victims, families, and city of Boston in this time of tragedy. I also implore you to pray for the law enforcement agencies in their hunt for a suspect so that justice may be swift and merciless. As is our way in America, I know Boston and all Americans will be strong and united in moving forward and showing the world that these acts will not destroy us but only sharpen and strenthen us. God bless America and God bless Boston. Thank you. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/witnesses-describe-terrifying-scene-blasts-boston-marathon-033009465.html
  19. I think the biggest problem you will likely run into with the 501st is your age. You must be 18 years old to be a member of the 501st. For those that are not legally "adults" there is the Galactic Academy. You can find information about it here: http://www.galactic-academy.com/ It may not be as glamorous as the 501st, but it's as good as you are going to get for now.
  20. Super clean build. Easily approved. Can't go wrong with all you lot in the UK Garrison though. From what I see, I don't think anyone in your Garrison has wrong lineage armor. Brilliant work!
  21. Beautiful Hero helmet. Absolutely gorgeous. Nice fix there, brother!
  22. Looks promising. Give us some pictures with the armor on, as I feel like that will show the difference the best.
  23. I had a feeling I would be scolded for that. Well, in my own mind, when I think of a hero helmet- I always think of them with the low brow. It's still optional, nonetheless, but I guess it's just one of those personal pet peeves.
  24. Since you are already pretty much revamping the entire helmet, I think you should lower the brow. The hero helmets in the movie seem to all have the brow very close to the eyes. This is a matter of opinion, however, as I don't believe there's anything about that in the CRL. Other than that spot on job! Very nice.
  25. They ought to considering how long TM spent sculpting his armor. I think he deserves to be defended.
