LadyInWhite Phasma Build
TK5492 replied to LadyInWhite's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Just read through the whole thread. Incredible work here. You are making huge headway for those that come after you, amazing job! -
Yeah I would gladly take on that role as well. Can you imagine? It also appears that the biceps are overlapping with maybe velcro closures?

Gotta agree with the clips as well. They give it a real world feel for how the armor would actually be worn, it would be pretty amazing for them to actually "clip".

Thank you guys I'm having so much trouble with the browser. It also mentions the armor is cast from polyurethane.
-
This is ridiculous. The link isn't working because of the stupid browser issue with the forums when I'm on my phone. Sorry everyone I will have to fix it when I'm home later on Firefox.
-
Has anyone seen this yet??? This is really cool to see. Also the information about the armor, *I believe*, may be new as well. http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2015-11/18/star-wars-force-awakens-stormtrooper-dressing-room

This is specifically for the episode VII gloves. It won't let you view the TFA items without a password.
-
Went on Imperialboots.com and was planning to look at purchasing gloves. Won't even let me look at them without a passoword. Anybody know how to get one or what the status is on this? I know some folks have been getting gloves/ boots from them already.
-
Appreciate it y'all. I'll give it a go.

Okay so the threads don't actually hold the fingers together then. It looks perilous.
-
Does anybody even have any ideas? Even if you haven't done this?

I just received my gloves from Trooperbay. Great quality but I can't see how I would remove the white leather on the middle, ring, and pink finger without ripping the gloves apart with it. What methods are you guys using for this?
-
Stay far away from this. This looks like either star fortress or recast of star fortress armor. This is not a vetted vendor and the quality for that price makes me sick to my stomach.

It's sad that someone may unknowingly purchase this and wind up out of there money with this kit...

Stick to this: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/

Nice thank you. I have so cordura material pouches similar to this already although this looks promising. I guess I'll just have to do the best I can with materials and the CRL and then it will just come down the the GML.

Good idea! ^^ I once used an old FX bucket for a lampshade. It would be great for something like that. But for 501at purposes I wouldn't break the bank for it.

Nylon Snap Plates - How Tight on the Snaps?

Nylon Snap Plates - How Tight on the Snaps?
TK5492 replied to spyder918's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
For the male snaps that you would use for the snap plates you will want them tight enough so they won't move. For the female snaps on your actual strapping I have found sometimes no matter how tight you make them they will still rotate. It's not really a big deal for the female side. -
If you are planning on getting her approved I would stay away from the Rubies. The work it would require is extensive and won't be worth it.

I've got a set of TFA armor on the way but it's not from Anovos. That being said, I've had to source all the "extras" elsewhere. I have already taken care of the gaskets and belt- Huge thanks to Imperial Gaskets you guys are awesome.

So really my only outlear right now are these pouches. I can see from the CRL what the type of material is called and what they should look like but does anyone have an idea of where to find them?

bucket painting saftey concerns
TK5492 replied to n1nthcloud's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Actually, yes in a manner of speaking as they are quite small.

That wasn't meant to be an apples to apples comparison. I still don't think it would be an issue once it's dried. Once it's dry, fumes should not longer be an issue. -
bucket painting saftey concerns
TK5492 replied to n1nthcloud's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Honestly? I'm sure if you paint it and let it dry and air out until you can no longer smell it you'll be fine. I haven't painted the inside of mine just because I don't want it black. But I really don't think once it's fully cured and aired out will hurt anything. I'll put it this way: I climb into and perform maintenance on aircraft fuel tanks for a living. Once they are totally depuddled and air purged completely we no longer need to wear a respirator. If those fuel tanks are safe once they are dry I think a helmet will be. -
Did you just use white gloss for this or did you follow with clear coat?

How did you do building first time?
TK5492 replied to civitanom's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
The first build.I did did not come out well but I had no resources at all. I was totally new and didn't have a clue. By my third and final ANH TK build I was able to build it to Centurion level with no issue at all all because of the FISD. If you really use this resource and listen to what people say and follow the builds that have been completed and have some patience you will do just fine even with no prior experience.
