Agreed... it's the one thing I can't reverse for Centurion. My sniper plate didn't fit exactly right either... I felt I had no option as no amount of clamp or tape seemed to keep it where I wanted it, so I riveted in desperation to get it to stay. Yeeaah. I have tape on the back of my holster rivets. Fortuantely the snaps on the ab plate hold it still and it's not moving around a lot. I painted testors onto the plastic directly with no primer, and have had no trouble. Are they ABS? Great build thread, you are going so fast!!! Soon you can get back to those Lego builds.

My tiny TK build starts! =D [*ATA]
LadyInWhite replied to gattirenata's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
When you say "Tiny TK" do you mean kid-sized or just that you're uber petite? Don't be discouraged, by the way... by cuts or failures or frustrations!!! I nearly lopped off my thumb at one point - I think it was trimming my ear pieces... I had rivets jam in the tool and have to cut them off carefully... had lots of bad scoring and clamp-glue-slippage and so on... I put one snap on the cod to connect to one of the two on the butt plate, by the way. I don't like anything too permanent, especially elastic in my crotch area! -
Someone just posted this on my facebook page for me, too! Is left-hand blaster holding correct? I never knew!

TK-0393 AP Build[*AP]
LadyInWhite replied to Jancelot's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I have AP also and a very similar issue with the back/kidney/butt plate. 5'11" and 180. Worsened by my bodacious female buttocks. (I wish.) Can you adjust it so that your belt comes down a bit on the kidney, which will allow you to hide any additional gap you may need to put there? Right now your kidney pokes out under your belt, so that gap would be visible. (I had to do this a bit to lengthen my cod piece.) Or perhaps a shim along the top edge of the butt plate. Actually your jeans might be interfering. Try using tights. (Seriously. Or your undersuit.) From the back that butt plate looks fine to me if you don't judge by the jeans. Also, if you look at movie pics, there are often gaps, at least at the side/corners of the butt plate, on all the troopers, so maybe don't expect it to be flush. You look like you might need some shims on the sides between ab & kidney. I think this is fairly common, I've seen it on many an AP build and a few others. Lastly, my GML said nobody really takes pics of you from the back... Hope that helps. I'm sure other guys will have some great advice! -
Nomex gloves question
LadyInWhite replied to bigironvault's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Screen accurate = rubber/chemical gloves. Centurion level = latex-ish rubbery stuck-on stuff like the link above. If you are going for accuracy, get at least one pair of chem gloves. Comfort = nomex. I got these after my EI status. They are sweet! I also got them half the price ($19.98) of your listing on Amazon. But yes, those look to be the ones (at least the ones like I got). If you're wondering which I plan to wear at events, well, like decals and stuff, it depends on the level of the event (LFL vs. Fan Events, for ex.). I wore my Nomex on TV. I also found two "dive suits" (the black under-armor stuff) on Amazon for about $19 each. They run small/tight, but once I got the right size they fit great. UnderArmour doesn't make the black suits for women anyway. Heck I think about 50% of my accessories and tools I got super cheap on Amazon. -

1. PICS OF TK-MINIKEITH!!!! 2. Patience is for Jedi. Close your eyes, point, and rush in firing hard. -
(-A-) I'm assuming/hoping you're working on getting those great EIB and Birthday widgets back up into the right column? (-B-) Birthdays are listed again in the bottom, but only the first 5. How can I view more/all like you can with "who's online?" Neither is a priority, just hoping they're on your radar!

Things to do while waiting ...
LadyInWhite replied to bigironvault's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I had many other distractions, as my armor arrived OCT 31. So other costumes, reading and procrastinating like mad, setting up my Angry Gourds display out front....... madness, I tell you! Definitely, as others have said, work on things you'll want to have when your build is finally done. Order boots, belt, neck seal, under-suit (dive suit), etc. Practice making snap plates. Or just enjoy the time before your life is consumed. Like catch up with family and friends who are going to start feeling neglected. Enjoy! I'm sharing the excitement! -
The person I know who modified a Rubies DV went into great depth about the mods. If only I had tape recorded that lunch! I'd be happy to ask him some questions for you. He did say the SLD was a great resource for that, so I wouldn't be shy. Like FISD, they probably have all kinds of helpful souls who can supply some of the parts and/or know how best to acquire or make them, and what passes. At worst, lurk... though I know Sith Lords can be kind of intimidating around us simple troops.

I followed PandaTrooper's thread to a T... http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=14806 ... you could probably ask him specific questions. Are you talking about painting the whole bucket white, or just the detailing? For details I didn't use any primer, just put the Testors (your equiv of Humbrol?) on directly, 2 coats gray under, 2 coats for lines/black, 2-3 coats black on the vocoder. I used my decals for the tube stripes. Some of the guys suggested using the decals to get approved (EIB should be ok) and hand-painting afterward. But I love painting so I went straight for it and it turned out better than I expected. Just look closely at pics of helmets that are approved on the EIB thread.

RS AND TM Junior side by side

If I ever clear out my garage and build my vacuum form machine (I'm ready, just no room!) I'll consider making minis. (Not that I'm an expert) Cuz DANG I would so shell out for one RIGHT NOW. I wait with bated breath!!!! -
I just wanted to say the new skin looks cool! Thanks to our hard-working techies!

EXCITING! GOOD LUCK! After you make your first cut, it's okay to throw up. But honestly it gets easier as you go! Start with something you can probably replace easily, like hand plates (replace with latex molds) or cover strips. Once you get the feel you'll be fine.

Voice changer for female troopers?
LadyInWhite replied to Ryss's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
For "line control" duty at WonderCon last weekend, I was with my son who started out calling me TK-6818 and really wanted to learn to be a handler. (Yes, he's 6.) He was dressed as little Anakin. And bored. After about 20 minutes of a 2+ hour tour of duty, he kept shouting "Mom...blah blah" whatever. Like "Mom, what time is it now?" So after a bit I stopped bothering to be "male-ish" and just went with whatever was comfortable. It's kind of hard to pretend to be male when you're a "mom" Didn't get my bum slapped by teen girls this time, but I did get called "Mrs. Stormtrooper" or equivalent more than once. So relax, enjoy it, make it work when it can, and when it can't, remember: as long as you're not a dancer the Emperor won't harass you. -
My AP armor build [*AP]
LadyInWhite replied to AbrahamLINC0LN's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
As much as I think the heavy duty snaps are going to be strong and awesome, I had significant problems getting them flush to the snap plates. If anyone has figured this out or a workaround - besides just deepening the hole because then there's not as much left to attach... I dunno... But it's a good idea to get started. I put all my females (?!?!) on snap plates and all males on the fabric/web/elastic parts. This ensured I could make 40 snap plates and never worry where they go or if I got a match. GOOD LUCK! Don't forget to also order your boots and blaster/parts and all that other stuff....... gawd it feels like I never stop ordering....... a girl's dream! Nonstop shopping!!. lol!!! -
Update: today my snap plate on my left (and usually less troublesome) thigh came off. Concede: elastic would have helped prevent this because it has "give." Confirmed: I've been thinking about a harness or suspenders anyway. Patrick: Here's what I plan to do though I am also curious to see others. Option 1: use hockey suspenders with the metal button-hook closure, affix hook side to inner thigh using LONG well-glued strip similar to cover strip. Option 2: use hockey suspenders and remove button-hook, attach snap system (with longer snap plate and moooooore glue on thigh piece).

You haven't seen my thighs. I have not found an elastic with the tension strength to contract this load. Also, in my case they do not hang because my thigh ("meat") is snug inside them. However, because my thigh is conical, they will slip down. So if I adjust to the right height, the webbing prevents slipping down, but otherwise it's just fine and works for me
-
I use this same set-up with the webbing with three snaps to adjust the height based on how my body is feeling that day. I also cinch the web belt all the way up to under my chest, in part because my beer gut keeps it up. I don't have a "waist" like normal women I tried the elastic and no matter how short I made it they sagged, which is why I ripped them off and put webbing on. My thigh pieces are too heavy. As I lose weight, however, I am considering adding shoulder straps / harness to the rig to keep it up, and also as something to attach my electronics to. I don't like the idea of attaching things to the inside of my chest armor when I have other "baggage" in there.
