1. Someone in my office must be chopping onions again! Great newsletter this month! I really enjoy the crossover with the SLD!
2. How did you go about strapping your shoulder pouch? I rigged up some strapping system that goes around my neck and back and was a mess. Since I'm packless, my GML wants me to wear a MP40 on my left shoulder and right hip for basic approval.
3. You going there for LTP or JRTC planning? I've done 3 JRTC and 2 LTP trips there and I don't wish that duty station on my worst enemies haha.
4. Your cover strips should end below the top ridge on the calves. I use Velcro to close mine and they stick up too. There is such thing as low profile Velcro which would correct this but I haven't found any locally yet. Not a big deal overall
5. Make sure you are using the full page mode and not the mobile version. That's the only way I can stand navigating the site other than from a computer
6. I wonder if it would be difficult to make a mold using the cheese grater hand plates you have then casting them with liquid latex. I wouldn't recommend selling them or anything but for personal use.
7. I have 4 kids, two of them still in diapers. No wonder it's been almost a year on my build. I barely have time to change out of my work clothes when I get home. I'd be interested in someone making me one haha
8. Plan on doing a run of these? Would be kind of cool to troop with at events where blasters are not allowed at.
9. Congratulations man! I know that you put a ton of work into this and it shows! Looking forward to seeing your pack build and your PO request on MEPD.
10. The thighs are 20mm front and back. The shins are 20mm front and 25mm back. IMHO, I like the front to be 20mm and a clean shim on the back to enable to use of standard sizing in the rear too. Is it necessary for approval even in the standard levels, not necessarily, however it looks better. This is just my personal opinion though.
11. Start with the torso and branch out!
12. Well E6000 is easy to clean up. CA glue is a whole other beast.
13. You really don't have to go all pretty for the mesh. It's inside your helmet where no one is going to see anyways. I just cut it to size, put a few drops on and waited a minute or two for it to get tacky, and slapped it on.
14. If you have big thighs and calves, you may need to go bigger on the front than the standard 20mm. The key is to make it uniform in appearance. You will want the same front cover strips on both thighs and shins. Most people will go bigger on the back and leaving the front the standard 20mm though. It's possible you will need to shim. There are several great tutorials here to learn how to that if needed.
15. Anyone need to pick up a hyperfirm E-11, now is the time!
16. Better start working on squats to fill out that butt plate
17. I'm no where near crafty enough to build that on my own. Shoot, I'm going to have my pack built for me as it is.
18. Sand the inside of the bottom of the shins to make sure there are no burrs and then line it with the loop/fuzzy part of the velcro.
19. No one is saying you aren't allowed to have weapons anymore. The powers that be just request all official troops not use them for the time being.
20. Chemical gloves let no air in so use those for approvals, cannon troops, etc. get a nomex pair for regular troops. That's what I'll be doing. Some wear cotton glove liners to soak up sweat though
21. Make about 5 stacks of rectangles and glue it behind the center of the diamond. It'll make it stick forward so it won't catch the thigh.
22. Looking good brother! A few suggestions would be to thin out the ear some more. It's still pretty thick on the curve part. Your sniper plate looks like it is catching your thigh. When you put it on did you build up a few layers of ABS scraps so it sticks out a bit? So the V point at the bottom is flat but the main diamond has some backing and will point outwards like /

I painted more yesterday and check with what your GML wants to see but mine wanted me to dull or wash out a lot of the white away. I did this by wetting the rag I used to rub away weathering with and rubbing the entire armor down. I know the trooper you're emulating isn't very dirty though. Just message your GML to get an idea what he's looking for.
23. There's a million ways to skin a cat. I followed ukswrsth's ATA bucket thread but I've found the small jean rivets aren't tough enough so I'll be replacing them with Line 24
