Its FINALLY here! TE ROTJ ABS suit 1/3
JoeR replied to TKCaleb's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
That suit is pure beauty! I love it. I wish I could afford one right now. More pics from every possible angle please? Joe -
Just for the record TM has been doing these for years. Nice work buddy. Joe

I have owned pretty much every fan made armour and helmet and two original helmets from Jedi, but I still have yet to join up. I want to get my lifesize Jedi Stormtrooper done, and then I will join. Joe

When did you see Star Wars in the theater for the first time and where? As a toddler with my Mum, apparently I stood on my chair the entire movie and wouldn't shut up! What is your favorite Star Wars movie? Return of the Jedi What is your least favorite Star Wars movie? The Phantom Menace What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Personal development, my wife and unborn child, striving to be a better person, learning to let go of material objects - parting with 2 original Jedi helmets, which was one of my lifetime ambitions. What turns you off? Rude behaviour, people taking props and this hobby way too seriously, the downturn in society. What is your favorite curse word? C**t What Star Wars Character do you love? Darth Vader, all Stormtroopers. What Star Wars Character do you hate? As above (Jar Jar), pointless character. How did you first find out about your home garrison? Found them online, although I haven't joined. What Costume other than your own would you like to attempt? ROTJ Darth Vader What Costume would you not like to do? Jar Jar What would you like to hear George Lucas say when you arrive at the LucasFilm Gates? Here is your own set of screenused stormtrooper armour.

Does anyone know why the traps are smaller on this run than his first run? Joe

I love it, sex in plastic! Joe

Looking great A. Will be cool to see it with Mike's decals. Joe
-
Perhaps Matt/TE could contact all his buyers and let them know these are being done. Or you could post on his facebook wall. Joe

TE Helmet, from ANH/ESB moulds yet rounded frown and hard hat liner. The former "screenused" stunt helmet. Squished/2nd mould but rounded frown and most likely a hard hat liner and metal tips. The ears on the squished/2nd mould are also from a new sculpt. Joe
-
There isn't technically. There are two types of Jedi trooper helmet. Background/Deathstar helmet which has a squared off frown, in gloss and a petal shaped foam liner and recast ANH/ESB mic tips. This is from the ANH/ESB style moulds, from what we know so at this point in time. I have never seen one in any close up shots. Hero/Stunt which has a flat black rounded off frown and a hard hat liner and metal machined mic tips. These are the only troopers which you see in any detail on screen. There are also 2 moulds, one more ANH/ESB and one which is much more squished on one side, and what you see on screen most of the time. The TE helmet which was cast to form the old and recent run was from the ANH/ESB style mould yet was finished with the rounded frown and machined mic tips. Joe

Mike They look great, you have got the tears bigger which is spot on. The traps do look unusually small, weird. Joe
-
Looks amazing, I love that frown. Joe
-
Got some perfect mic tips thanks to Leo. I am working on a getting a run of machined tips done. More on that later. Apprently Elvistrooper also does machined tips. I tried a test coat of a plasticote yellow, but it is not nearly brown enough. I don't think there is a spray can colour out there that will match the faded ABS so I think I will go for Death Star sparkling trooper. I also started on the teeth, matching the rough cuts on the originals, they need a little more filing, but are almost done. Joe

Nice work dude. That is looking sweet.
-
I would personally sort the frown out, it is wonky on the top and not thick enough round the edges IMO. Joe
-
Mike I am up for 1 set now. Thanks Joe
-
Very nice, thanks for sharing pics. Joe

Pm sent Mike. Joe

Mike Because of the amount of re-working on this helmet I don't think that the decals will fit an older TE ROTJ helmet. Also the decals on mine are way way bigger, so they will not fit my helmets either. PM me your address and I will send you paper cut outs from the moulds. Joe

Maybe you are right, but the differences are beyond touch up, the traps on this vary massively compared to the background and non background helmets. On this helmet the chin has been way over sharpened, the teeth have been over sharpened, you are right it probably is a recast from one of his own helmets. Joe

The brand snaps say 'Newey England' on the top, which is a miltary.WWII brand I think and there is no brand on the hard hat liner. Joe

Just received this in the post this morning. On an aside note, it is so different from my moulds, after seeing this helmet and my other 2 helmets, I now believe that there were 3 ROTJ moulds, there is so much difference between the three types. I am going to do a movie accurate 2009 build up with a very yellow looking aged helmet and I want the round edged satin frown non background look to it. I have sourced machined mic tips and am actively looking for: * Snap poppers with the same brand as the originals. * An accurate hard hat liner. * Soft leather for the hard hat liner. I will also be doing cast from my original mould lenses as well. If anyone is interested drop me a pm Whatever anyone says about Matt, he knows his Stormtroopers like no-one else, having handled originals in the LFL archives, kudos to his work.

Amazing, looks spot on. Where did you get the foam from? Joe

Very helpful guide and good for those that don't want to search the forum for multiple threads. I think this is a great idea.

I have one on the way, I am really excited as I have been after a Jedi helmet for about 3 years. Also my helmets will be ready to go by Christmas if all goes to plan. Joe
