  1. Also remember, you can link to photos from anywhere, you don't even need to use Photobucket or similar. My whole scope tutorial was done using pics I posted on Farcebook (just right-click on the pic to get its address and copy/pasta from there). Just don't use your bad mobile phone cam to take your EIB application shots, this will cause Mathias to make fun of you LOL
  2. LOL man Gus is WAY shorter than you (though he's a Sandie) And I swear Merrilea is UNDER 5 foot... She still looks great in TK. PS that AP does fit you sweetly indeed.
  3. Just another perspective on the heat issue- I'm in sunny Australia (so a bit warmer than you UK guys), I find having the balaclava is great in hot conditions because it wicks sweat away from the face, keeping me drip-free. But YMMV, what works for me may not mork for you... On topic, I use Trooperbay mesh (it's nicer than the gardening shadecloth I used to have in there).
  4. Wow, those old certs looked good! I might wait for the fresh ones, though. I'd never even thought about the goodies that come with EIB...
  5. Check out the undersuits at stormtrooperundersuit.com AKA extremeracing.com. The guy does a discount if it's for a 501st costume (you don't have to be approved to get the discount).
  6. "It's an older code sir, but it checks out." Just fy casual... Congrats!
  7. Congrats! Just ditch the straps across your biceps, and you'll be in! (trust me, I studied the ESB EI requirements a little bit)
  8. Agreed. We should put forth an amendment proposal to exclude FX kits from the program, yes? Or at least a complete list of the necessary mods...
  9. On my budget?!? But seriously... I support of your thoughts on cover strips for Centurion, but you haven't put them in the requirements yet! I might have to try and sneak in while your hands are still tied...
  10. I actually agree with you there, the FX sculpt has so many fundamental inaccuracies. That said, my chest and back have both been shortened... Besides the mods you've already suggested, what else would I be needing to do? (once I affix my shoulder bridges at the back, I will technically have 'ticked all the boxes')
  11. Proud to be an Aussie TK But it's much more geographically specific than that: Me and Spectre Not only both Australian Both in the State of Victoria In the Latrobe Valley (we live about 15 miles apart) A good hour away from any of the rest of our Squad. Hence the 'Valley Troopers' reference.
  12. All good about the delays, I can understand you're a busy Troooper. I had to use quite a few jars of that Turd Polish. I definetely need to pick up some more before I try out for Centurion... But I like obvious ear screws... eh, white would be a good colour for them, better than green, I guess. I'm going to try and gain some weight rather than trim more, I'd hate to need to shim just because I finally ate a decent meal! Yeah, the back could be sitting in a slightly more sexy position, duly noted. I actually really like the boxes where they are, they hang directly below the tabs (but the tabs are further out than they should be), I'll move them in a bit, but I'm very conscious of not becoming one of the many who wear tehm far too far in... LOL, you don't like my mobile phone's cam?? All good, I was in a rush to get my application in on my birthday, I do have a better cam, and I'll use it for my Centurion app. Mind, I figured you might not be terribly strict, I kept hearing rumours that this EIB thing is actually pretty easy to get... Looks like they were true. Valley Troopers ftw! *Expert fives* Took my suit from eBay to EIB, everyone please excuse me while I go and be proud of myself.
  13. I haven't tried the Radioshack (in theory it should feed at the same volume, or slightly lower because it is more sensitive) But I can tell you straight up that you need to TALK LOUDER and possibly have the mic closer to your mouth. Can't stress this advice enough. The LOUDER you talk -> the LOUDER the signal from mic to amp -> the LOUDER the sound that comes out of the speaker
  14. Actually, Vern is on the money about RotJ- pretty much every part in the Doopy's kit is incorrect for a RotJ E-11, because the MGC Sterling is nothing like the L2A4 (mkIV) I'd honestly still suggest using the kit to make an ANH- it's all there, you won't end up with spare parts and you could always sell it off to fund your RotJ blaster build if you feel there's not much point in keeping it.
  15. That is actually a pretty good explanation of how a condenser works. I haven't seen the new VT-16's, no. My only real point was that people keep referring to the Radio Shack mic a uni, when the mic it's replacing is also a uni. Yeah, it's the right term, but they're both unis. It's like saying an RS lid is better than a TE2 because it's screen-derived. (I didn't do 18 months of audio engineering classes to NOT develop pet peeves and snobbery, y'know! And, well, dammit- the computer I'm sitting at right now happens to be a pro recording setup... I just get uppity sometimes.)
  16. Again guys, the standard POS mics with the Aker are unidirectional ones. All that unidirectional means is that the sound is recieved from one side of the mic (compare omni, cardioid and hyper-cardioid patterns if you're interesteed in mic specs) The actual reason you guys are liking the Radio Shack mic better is because it is a condenser mic (that's why it takes a watch battery to power it) Standard POS mics are dynamic mics. Condensers are much more sensitive.
  17. Here's a cool one: Imperial Surgeons! Apparently from the same Empire Comic as the AT-STish combat medics.
  18. For ESB, you'd also want to change to a thinner rail, but that's not in the requirements list (yet). (ITT: we 'gently' encourage you to research different blaster types... )
  19. The standard crappy mics that come with the Aker are unidirectional, no? As I have said in the past (and others have said here) 1) EAT the mic. Right on your lips is the correct postition I put mine at the (left) corner of my mouth, so I can talk to the left, breathe/cough to the right, and avoid making unwanted Vader effects 2) Use your LOUD voice. With the amp going, your natural acoustic voice will get drowned out. But the LOUDER you talk, the louder it comes through the amp. If you mumble, the amp will mumble also. Those two tips can't be stressed enough, whether you use the Aker alone or with the iComm. I'd agree that 50% is pobably ideal volume- I always ping my amp (turn it up until it feeds back, then turn down until just after it stops)- I usually end up set at about 50% anyways.
  20. Oh yeah, Doopy's have ANH really well-covered. Too bad for the rest of us...
  21. (If assembled correctly) ANH Centurion. EDIT: Just to clarify: From the CRL requirements: EIB Folding stock (does not need to function). CHECK A real or replica ammo counter - based off of a Hengstler counter - shall be present. CHECK D-ring mounted on the rear. CHECK Correct style scope. CHECK Two power cylinders on the magazine housing. STICK THEM ON Scratch-built, resin cast, Hyperfirm rubber cast blasters shall have a total of 6 T-tracks on blaster (leaving the lowest row on the magazine housing side uncovered). CHECK No ESB/ROTJ greeblies are allowed on the blaster. DON'T STICK ANY OF THEM ON Centurion Hasbro blasters are not allowed, even conversions. NOT A PROB, BOB IT AIN'T NO HASBRO And that's why.
