Apparently people do. The Rebel Legion would have the details. From what I hear, C-3PO's are a fairly expensive endeavour- just painting the suit won't get the right 'golden' look, and you have to coat the plastic somehow (but don't take my word on that). I'm somewhat interested in doing a droid outfit myself, as I'm also skinny enough to do one. For the moment, I'm just working towards a lightweight TK. I'd prefer to go with 4-LOM or the DS droid over 3PO.

He's probably using your pic because -get this- the makers he's buying from are using it! Do you want their email?

Looks nice! I love the idea of cutting the lines for air flow. Those fourth teeth are tiny! I might put some in mine, after all... -

That tears it, then! My ears have 4 bumps. I must be missing teeth- Hey! Just like my mouth! BTW: They really are top-notch. Next time, I'll be sending cash your way, instead of kind words... -
On a positive note, he gets the armour shipped direct from England- so no dog-poop smell to it. Anyone wnat the email address of the makers?

Aren't the hand guards the only other real difference? (aside from lenses) -

There were only 6 indents for teeth... I'd rather go with Stunt. Weren't there a few Stunts with only 6 teeth? /shrugs I can cut the other 2, if needs be. This is an FX helmet, so I'll replacing it first chance I get. I was mostly asking if my cutting looked crap. BTW, I think I'll be ordering some of your lovely handguards sometime. -
Do these teeth look okay? (besides being horrid white and not lovely gray) Sorry if that's a little blurry, I can try and get a better pic...

Rare earth magnets: shattering
Darth Hilarious replied to Jorran's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I've been having the same problem (though I haven't broken quite so many). I found it amazing they way the pieces polarise. -
These shoulders are huge on me...

I'm slightly tempted... but I'll decline. If I screw these ones up, and yours are still for sale, however... -

Sorry for the lack of pics. I would post some now, but I've already gotten helpful answers. Just to explain (which I should have already done), I'm not concerned about the length of the bells, but the girth is ridiculous on my skinny arm. I think I'll have a crack at heating them and pressing them closed. Thanks everyone. The next round of blue milks are on me. -

FX (or a recast thereof, which seems more than likely). -

I was partly thinking that. Also, I don't mind Warhammer 40K shoulders. I guess I'm just a bit over-worried about making things fit nicely. Thanks for the super quick reply! -
I am quite skinny. I've trimmed the biceps and forearms of my suit, but the shoulder bells don't sit nicely around the bicep! Is there a trick for closing them a little? (heatgun, maybe?)

I'm only a n00b, but I'll give you my $0.02. They look great! That said, if they bother you, you should totally redo them. Otherwise they'll just keep bothering you.

What's going on with these thighs?
Darth Hilarious replied to Darth Hilarious's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Based on what I've learned in recent weeks, I'd recommend ATA too... But I'll be keeping this kit. I figure I can hone my skills so I can feel confident doing my build if/when I get a better kit. Plus, then I can have a nice, screen accurate kit for trooping and use this one for general messing around. I may even end up converting this on to TKC or TX... -
Intense! How careful do you have to be about not shattering the plastic?
-
Actually, I don't. As I said, I only just found out about them myself. I haven't learned the particulars yet. And that question hadn't occurred to me as yet... Anyone?

Awesome! Thanks again guys. I'm really feeling the 'Troopers helping Troopers' vibe right now. -

I wouldn't blame you. I was thinking of doing that anyway. Glad to know it isn't just my dodgy armour. Cheers for the super fast reply, too. -
I bought what is probably a recast FX kit from Ebay, and plan on doing the best job I can with it. Can anyone with FX experience tell me what's up with this? It's the back of the left thigh (probably bleedingly obvious to those in the know). Is that bottom seam supposed to be like that? How is it meant to fit together? Or should I just be trimming off the offending section? And just to double check, are the rear joins onthe thighs supposed to be done with velcro?
-
Ummm... yeah. That would be the tool in the picture. Often called 'vario pliers'. I only just learned of those about a week ago myself (this place is very educational). I'd been scratching my head wondering how you're supposed to hammer the snaps in (like I did in leathercraft at school) without shattering the plastic...
-
So does anyone have definite confirmation of what this armour is? Is it recast FX, or something else?
-
The mic tips and buttons that came with it certainly won't qualify for EIB! But I think it might be passable, given some work. I might start a build thread, once I get a bit more underway...
