Terrell, That is one reason I hang out here at the FISD. You're awesome!

Love that video...so very true and funny. My favorite sequence is the Jawas. Especially since at my meal break at work the other night we watched COPS and there was a traffic stop that was vaguely familiar...if the perpetrators had been short and wearing cloaks, and the police had been in armor. Very well done film and one I can watch over and over and over. If you want to see it in HD, and download it for the Real Player, here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qI43mZwsXXU...feature=related

The Star Wars Saga, how do you rank the episodes?
tigger68 replied to RogueTrooper's topic in Off Topic
I totally agree. That said... Episode III: The best scene? When the 501st march into the Jedi Temple. Although I have issues with the fact that they aren't marching in sync. No army would be that out of sync with each other. Each step would have been perfectly aligned. I've seen marching bands from high schools that move in coordination better. I blame the CGI people for that one. Then the scene where Vader's mask comes down over the camera...the WHOLE screen is filled with a profile shot of Vader's head and sholulders and then they tip the table upright. Cinematic goodness. Other than that, 'cmon Anakin, grow up. Stop sulking because the Jedi Council thinks you might be a tad young to be on it. Good grielf, you've been a jedi knight for what? A year? And you think you deserve the right to be called Master? Obviously the Council knew something. But the movie that will remain dearest to my heart is Episode IV: A New Hope I was nine. My parent's were jaded about movies and never ever took my sisters and I to a PG rated film. So Star Wars was a first in more than one way. After hearing all the stories from my friends (try having a 9 year old explain about R2-D2 and C-3PO in a "What I Did Last Summer" essay in class and you know how confused I was. My dad after much pleading on my part took my sisters and I to see it. Talk about WOW! I was completely blown away. I went back and saw it as many times as I could convince my parents to let me, and/or my friends' parents and friends. I think all in all I saw it 14 or 15 times in the theater. Then for Christmas my mother gve me the ultimate present. After opening the Star Wars sheet set (which I still have BTW), I opened the Star Wars Movie record. Not the soundtrack, but the Dialog! To this day when the Millenium Falcon is entering the Death Star Landing Bay, I still wait for the pause in the soundtrack ("we're opening the magnetic field" four music measures then break) because it was at that point that you had to turn over the record to continue the story. Unfortunately my record gave up the ghost about 15 years after I got it for Christmas, but a friend of mine still has her copy. Okay, now I have to break out the Kleenex. 11 years ago when my father died, I read through his journals. I found the entry he had written the night he took us to Star Wars. He wrote that Star Wars had renewed his faith in movie making. There were good guys and bad guys. No preaching about social issues, just a moral story, one that was fun and entertaining. He talked about his children's reactions to the movie and how much he enjoyed hearing us talk about it over and over and over. He talked about the great special effects and how marvelous all the detail was. He loved Darth Vader and even wanted to wear the costume for Halloween. He would have made a great Vader standing 6'5". Unfortunately he never got the chance as we could never find a costume long enough to fit him. Okay next...Episode V: Empire Strikes Back - didn't love it as much as the first, and still don't watch it as often as ANH, but still an excellent movie. Great story, good acting...still have a few issues with the whole Vader/Father thing, but after reading the Making of Star Wars, I understand that Lucas intended all along that Vader was Luke's dad, even before ANH was filmed. Love the use of stormtroopers in the film on Bespin. They deserve more credit then they get. ROTJ: An okay film, I wasn't as happy with it. I'm not a big fan of the Ewoks, and it always pains me to see the end when they are using stormtrooper and biker scout buckets as drums at the end of the movie. But overall a good film (theatrical version not the one where they put Haden Christensen in at the end). Okay, I have a confession to make. I never saw Episode II in the theater. I was SOOOO disapointed with EP I that it was impossible for me to get up the desire to see EP II. I had to be dragged to see EP III and only went because my cousin's stepdaughter wanted to go and I was the only person who could take her. So know you know my dirty Star Wars saga secret...shhhhhhhh. -
Hmm, used to love the show, have to see how wel they translate it. The "Mr. T" character wasn't too bad, but "Face"...might not be the same without Dirk Benedict. I guess that's why there's $5 Tuesdays with unlimited popcorn at a local cinema right? I hope Qui Gon Ginn is a better leader of the A-Team than a Jedi or it will be a really short movie. (Just kidding Mr. Neesom)

Tony, thank you for all the hard work you've put in. You deserve the break now. Brian, do you really know what you're getting into? I mean, we are a kind of rowdy group here...congratulations on the promotion, and you'll do an excellent job!

Let's see, TIE Pilot (in progress, waiting on some pieces before I can finish) ANH TK - have the Hasbro blaster in pieces as I'm doing a PandaTrooper mod on it, and saving up the cash for my armor Would love to have a TX - preferably the NovaTrooper (gold accents) but that is way off in the future. As for previous costumes, At the age of 10, copied the clothing of Queen Anhkhesamun (sp?) from one of the artifacts in the King Tut exhibit (yes back in 1978) and built the costume from it by hand. Including the crown, pectoral collar, armbands, and dress. Flamenco dancer (sewing) Elizabethan historically accurate dress (sewing) Eighteen Century Court dress (sewing) Hmm, I seem to have a lot of sewing skills, maybe I should put them to use and make neck seals.... I'm good with wire, beads and gemstones, just not with molding plastic. I'll leave that up to someone else.

Alex, I'd love to go, but my AT-AT hit a patch of ice coming back from my last trip and ended up in a ditch and I can't take my TIE fighter because it doesn't like cold weather, besides Darth Vader tends to frown on things like using TIE fighters for personal business, and I really hate being choked. Hope you have a great birthday, and stay warm! This Hoth-like stuff is for the birds. If I'd wanted to be a Snow Trooper, I would have started working on that armor.
-
Wow, a new Wookie sighting. Need more snow though to match our Hoth moment. But is this Wookie tall enough???? Maybe that's why its on the Isle of Wight. Perhaps looking for a new home planet? Stay tuned for more details.

Okay, I'm borderline between Geek and Nerd...have at least some Social Skills, not many but some. Other than that, I'm proud to be a Star Wars, and (somewhat) Star Trek Geek! You meet the best people, although I am not sure about how rabid the Star Trek fans can be....haven't been to a Star Wars Celebration yet so I'm reserving judgement. Perhaps I'll make sure I'm wearing armor..................white armor.
-
Um, kind if looks like you're wearing a really poorly designed sleeping bag. Or maybe a tent? I'm not running down to my local Star Wars Shop to purchase that costume. I'd rather waste my money on a Taun Taun sleeping bag or even (gasp) Rubies Storm Trooper armor, especially right now since the weather out here is imitating Hoth, not Tatooine.

I'm in the process of completing my Hasbro modification (thank you PandaTrooper for your pics) and as soon as I fix the problems with the USB drivers on my computer I'll be uploading the pictures of the modification so everyone can see how well I follow directions (either look will work). I didn't know which way to go when I was purchasing a blaster, and since then I've decided to keep the Hasbro for trooping when children will be more present, and get a more expensive kit and fit it out with Hasbro electronics and sound. Children tend to like to hear and see the blaster "firing" even though the bright orange tip kind of detracts from the look... Oh yeah, that's my tail, not the tip. Silly me.

I'm slowly gathering all my pieces for my TK, and purchased the Champion two piece suit at Target (okay I bought it instead of Under Armor because of my employee discount and at the time a "Thank you" extra discount) and sewed on elastic for stirrups at the ankles and small thumb loops.

I grew up watching the classic Trek...even was amazed at the first Star Trek movie in the theatre when they did the complete flyby of the Enterprise. However, I wasn't a fan of all the movies, and only watched a coupld of the "Next Generation" episodes. Went to see the latest Trek movie only because I thad Eric Bana as Nero in it, and was blown away. Besides, did everyone here know that R2-D2 has a cameo in it? If you cant find it, I'll tell you where it is...I'll give you a hint. When the Enterprise exits warp at Vulcan start looking at the move frame by frame...R2 is only there for a second,. but he's there. Other than that, Star Wars has ruled my life since the first time I saw the Tantive IV being chased across the screen by an Imperial Star Destroyer. I still am a fan of the original trilogy, the prequels...well, don't get me started on how idiotic they are, and don't even start about how unmilitary the clone troopers are. Not blaming the troopers, just the people that populated them on the computer. Other than that Star Wars still takes the prize. Bring on the Empire!

Happy New Year Everyone! May all your trooping be white/shiny, or sandy, or black/shiny...and may you have many, many, happy, happy times!

Merry Christmast, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year to everyone! May Santa Vader bring you nothing but good things this year! --------

Okay, in no particular order... The Bishop's Wife (Cary Grant, David Niven, Loretta Young) Miracle on 34th Street (the original with Natalie Wood) It's a Wonderful Life (do TV specials count?) The Grinch (original w/Boris Karloff narration) It's Christmas Charlie Brown National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (the lights oh the lights) The Muppet's Christmas Carol A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott Scrooged A Christmas Story (a neighbor has a leg lamp...yes a real leg lamp in their window this year.) And of course all the stop-motion Christmas specials (Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Rudolf, Year without a Santa, etc.) Have a Great Christmas!

Actually, if I read the article correctly, the Court of Appeals stated that there weren't any rights inherent in the sculptures or the helmets. The whole thing came down to the fact that the helmets were not an artistic piece (my guess is they meant a one of display piece). So now Mr. Ainsworth can under UK law sell to the US, but under US law he can't. The US courts stated that George Lucas had the copyright to the helmet and Mr. Ainsworth cannot sell in the US without copyright infringement. So...if I were to go to the UK on a trip to visit some 501st members, just happened to pick up a helmet, and brought it back to the US...would I be subject to problems? I have no plans to do so at the present but it does raise a lot of legal questions. One more interesting twist to this whole thing...if Twentieth Century Fox (TCF) had been more proactive in sigining a contract with LFL for ANH originally, George Lucas may not have owned the rights to anything Star Wars related. Prior to ANH, 90% of the time the studios owned the rights to all merchandising and any profits made from the sale of items relating to that film. But when TCF dragged their feet and only signed a contract after George Lucas had invested over $200,000 of his own money, he and his lawyers negotiated to retain ALL the rights to the film and all things related to it. Kind of interesting. After the film took off and all the merchandizing, I bet TCF is now doing this While LFL is doing this

I have read the novelization, and it only mentions the name of the person Grievous actually talks to to tell them to go to Mustafar. I'll have to recheck it, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't mention everyone's name who is in the "welcoming committee" but I could be mistaken. *bounces to bookcase to look up the answer* will report back...ooooh, Republic Commando books, I may be a while

Hadn't planned on going because I am waiting for the "other" Avatar - Airbender to come out. But it looks like a good movie, and if my friends who are seeing it next weekend like it I just might have to go see it. I've been looking at the games all week at work, so perhaps it might actually be a good movie. You'll have to post a review here after you see it so we can all hear about it. Have Fun!

Sounds like the conditions when I left this morning, but with a wind chill of 16 degrees F. Supposed to have a wind chill of -2 Thursday morning. Good thing I'm off that day. More sleet and snow showers tonight with cool temperatures...and now about a very unique and unusual kitty we send you to our reporter in the field, Julie...Julie?

True, and he re-did THX-1138 in 2004...I guess as a "fix" like the original theatrical releases for ANH, ESB, and ROTJ. Very interesting film.\, but I digress.
-
The THX comes from one of Lucas's student short films called Electric Labyrinth THX 1138 4EB (THX 1138 4EB - USA Title) which is where the security costumes in "Fanboys" come from. They are designed like the security costumes from the THX movie. Lucas wrote it and made it as part of his film studies. So he does like continuity doesn't he??? I know, I'm a trivia geek, goes along with the Star Wars geek thing. I don't think it matters how you display your ID, but when I'm officially a TI :tie: designation, I'm definitely using a hyphen just to set it off from the numbers.

I don't know...it still seems really neat that the one guy (never did learn his name) got to live out his fantasy and be in the "remastered" EP IV. But it is also cool to see the inside of the backpacks they had to remake...hollow vacuum molded items. For those who are talented that way (I'm not) you might pick up some great ideas....hmmmmm.

Pauldrons for $25 - and they look great!

Hmmm, may have to consider them for my pauldron for my TX, if they ever officially recognize the NovaTrooper. They look great! -
Pandatrooper's Hasbro build
tigger68 replied to pandatrooper's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Great information. Now I've got more ideas as soon as my mod kit gets here from DoopyDoos. I just need to make my T-rack while I'm waiting. But great ideas. I'd like to be able to keep my Hasbro blaster so I can open it and now I know how to do it.
