  1. Happy Birthday Paul! You've contributed so much to this hobby. Here's hoping you're around for many many more!
  2. Jeremy, I did photography for my local garrison for 5 months before I submitted my costume for approval (still waiting btw due to my GML selling his house and moving...) but handlers and photographers are ALWAYS welcome at troops. Good luck and welcome to one of the best forums on the internet!
  3. Hey! Maybe these are "off-duty wear" that was cut out of the original trilogy...or else someone has been sipping too much blue milk... my first thought was my next thought
  4. Hey guys, thought I'd report in. I've lost another 15 lbs in the past 6 weeks. I lost some ground in July over my birthday because I didn't eat well, and I didn't exercise like I'd been doing. The great news is I'm having to go clothes shopping to get some that fit. The bad news is, I had to take in my officer's tunic (again!)because it was starting to look like a hand-me-down that I needed to grow into. My sister just ordered the P90X so she can work out. I don't know much about it, but I'm going to watch her progress (or lack thereof) on it. She's already really fit (plays 2-3 hours of tennis a day and does Jillian Michaels workout) but can't seem to get the tight flat stomach she had in her 20s. I keep telling her that reaching her late 30s and having 3 children may make it more difficult to gain it back, but she is determined. I hope this works. I'll keep you updated, and now that summer is coming to a close, don't let yourselves be convinced you can't workout in the winter. Start thinking now of how to take your outdoors workout indoors.
  5. Hey! I could wear that armor...or is the shipping on that still delayed???? Okay, okay, I guess I'll have to order from someone who sells to the FISD.
  6. Once again Terry, you amaze me with your creativity. Definitely something I'm going to recommend to members of my garrison.
  7. Happy birthday Brian! Hope you're celebrating in manner which you deserve, which means excessively!
  8. Very nice. Looks like you had a lot of fun. Congrats on the 2nd place ribbon.
  9. I used the McCalls Pattern 4745 and modified it to match the requirements for the officer's tunic. If you are interested go the Imperial Officer's boards and there are a lot of discussions on how to use it. I didn't follow their guidelines completely because they made it too complicated, and I like to try and keep things as simple as possible. In fact, I just finished my Imperial Security Bureau tunic for hot weather trooping and will be wearing it two weekends from now for a troop. Total cost for the two uniforms...$125.00. Still waiting on my number, but haven't been rejected yet either.
  10. Happy Birthday Pablo! Hope you have a great one!
  11. The collar was the most difficult part. If you're using the McCall's pattern I can help you fit it to your neck, and put in the "modesty tab." Just PM me and give me your contact info. Billhag, thank you for the compliment. It means a lot coming from someone with your costuming skills. I've been told that my GML will be getting back to me by this weekend...on pins and needles, possible new job, now possible full-fledged 501st member.
  12. Okay, I've submitted an official uniform so I can become a 501st member. I thought I'd post some pictures of me in my uniform don't laugh, I'm still losing weight, and have to keep taking the stupid thing in. All in pieces. Where's the sewing machine? Whew! The basic jacket is finished...just the sleeves, bottom of the tunic, hems, and fastenings to go! Sleeves are on, collar is on, facing is done...just have to attach the bottom of the tunic. It's done! But I've lost weight, and now it's too big! Have to take it in. Sammy (the cat) seems to agree. Yea! First troop in my uniform (and yes I made the cap myself also.) Now I just need to get it approved...
  13. Here are pictures from my first troop in my officer's uniform! I'm still waiting to hear of I've been officially accepted, but had lots of fun anyway. Hope everyone enjoys the pictures.
  14. Yea Tanner! Good job! That's the kind of thing we like to hear (and see when you get the chance) in the Fit Club. You're giving inspiration for the rest of us.
  15. Sean, it sounds like you are doing this in a sensible and proper manner. Welcome to the Fit Club! We're here for each other and support each other doing this difficult thing called getting in shape and losing weight. Keep reporting on your progress, and good luck with your Grand Admiral.
  16. Adam, You might want to figure out how many calories you need to stay healthy and then figure out how many to reduce to lose weight. There is a previous post here in the fit club outlining how to do that and get results. And to everyone here...keep up the good work!
  17. Welcome to the fit club! As mentioned earlier, check out the previous posts for hints, and suggestions. See what others are doing, and above all, HAVE FUN!
  18. I've been a Star Wars fan since that firsts Star Destroyer moved across the screen in 1977. I had the bed sheets (still do as a matter of fact); action figures; the Movie/Story LP (not the soundtrack, the actual dialog one) and I still wait for the pause in the music to turn over the record right after they say, "We're opening the magnetic field."; suppressed my Star Wars geekiness during college and graduate school, and now embrace it. As for dressing up, it is all about the people I'm with, the kids faces and even the adults faces. I've met a great group of people through this organization, and I only wish I had found it earlier. Overall, I think these pictures sum it up nicely: I want to be just like you. We're all kids at heart... It is a way to volunteer and serve my community and have fun doing it. Like tkresonva said, I have opportunities open that I wouldn't have otherwise, and get to do things I never thought I would.
  19. Very nice. I complement you highly on your fine work. Your wife is going to look awesome at SDCC!
  20. I want that scale also, if it is showing the lower weight... but I guess we could pass it around the Fit Club.
  21. Adam, welcome to the Trooper Fit Club. We're all about losing weight and getting fit here (me included) so we look good in our uniforms. Take a glance back through the pages and do some calculations to find out how many calories you need to eat daily to lose weight. Also, I'm going to add a pointer for everyone here. It is about belly fat. The midsection is one of the problem areas for anyone trying to lose weight. I know I have issues, and my tennis-playing obsessed younger sister carries her weight there and it is the bane of her workout program and fashion sense. Researchers have discovered that STRESS can increase the amount of belly fat you carry, and also increase your cardiac risk. So if you are having problems losing belly fat, perhaps you might look into exercises that would decrease your stress. Exercises such as (all right guys don't laugh) Yoga, stretching, meditation, etc. In fact, a good way to cool down after a workout would be doing Yoga or stretching. Anything that would decrease your stress levels will help in losing the belly fat. Okay, that's my tip for today. I'm off to spend my birthday coupon for a free gourmet burger at Red Robin (sorry pandatrooper, I broke the good eating rule this past weekend due to my birthday party) and then I'm back on track, but I'm celebrating today. Keep working out and remember the Fit Club is here to continue on the goal of the FISD...Troopers helping Troopers.
  22. If they can't repel flavour of that magnitude, I think even stormtroopers could manage to get a kill "shot" of that one...very cute idea.
  23. The Imperials are members of the 70th Explorer Garrison, Squad 66, and others who were at Vision Con this past winter. I've heard it was a lot of fun making the video. Unfortunately the listing on youtube doesn't have the right names and they say it is the 66th Garrison when it is Squad 66 of the 70th Explorers Garrison. Love the video!
  24. Okay, I'm posting an update here. Since the beginning of June I've lost 15-18 lbs (depending on the day). Unfortunately, that means the Imperial Officer's tunic I made to measure no longer fits, and looks terrible. So I'm spending my evening tomorrown night after work re-tailoring it to fit me. I don't think the "I'm wearing my older brother's officer's uniform" is quite the look the Empire wants from its officers. Thanks again panda for the game. The only thing negative I have right now is I am getting a little bored (ADHD anyone?) but tother than that I'm enjoying it. And my officer's tunic is showing it. I'll have to post pictures of the before and after tailoring...just have to take them first. Cheers!
  25. Great work! I also clicked on the "Mandalorian Dance" link and watched it. Also incredibly funny and lots of work.
