Hey Chris, BTW, who is this helmet made by? It looks to be AP derived...
-
Hi Chris, As for the edge of the cap/back, the ears will help cover the imperfections, but you may need to trim a little more off ( I made a red dotted line where you might need to trim) see below: As for the imperfection on the front edge of the cap, the brow trim will help mask/cover it. see below: As for the corner edge of face plate/tube area (Webbing/imperfection) that will be covered/overlapped by the back and then the ears cover that, so do not worry about it.. See below: As for the imperfections on the bell area of the back part of the helmet, the smaller one will more than likely be masked/covered up by the rubber neck trim/gasket. But for the larger one, you can use a heat gun, and soften the ABS and work the plastic with your fingers into a less noticeable dent.. I have done this, but you will have to take your time and not over heat the plastic. Also work with gloves, the plastic gets very hot and you will need the protection. Or you could just leave the big dent and say it came from a Wookie hitting you in the back of the head.. :Wookiee1: . Good luck with your helmet build!!

Just a quick eye check...
RogueTrooper replied to Darth Hilarious's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Hey Jimmy, looks like you are off to a good start. The eyes on the ESB's have a little more meat taken away from the inner nose area of the eye socket. The bottom edge of the eye socket closest to nose has little to no material. Look at the diagrams that I made for you, and you will see what I am talking about. I put a red dotted line where I would remove a little more of the area. Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing your ESB TK ready for trooping. -
Hey Andy, Happy to help. About the way the AM biceps go on, you do have to twist them as you move them from your forearm to your bicep, eg, realign them. Try to reserve the flat ABS sheets for your cover strips. As for the backing strips or shims, use any scrap that you can or if you don't have enough scrap, then if you can find a reasonably thick/rigid "For Sale" sign, you can use that. If you can't find thick/rigid "For Sale" signs, then, you can glue a couple of "For Sale" signs together. This way they become more rigid. Just put an even amount of glue on the sheets and lay something heavy on top of them, eg. a piece of wood, books, etc. Then the "For Sale" signs will be thicker and more rigid. Then you can use this to make backing strips/shims that are not flimsy and not have to worry using the ABS sheets. Or you can look on Amazon, Ebay or any type of hobby shop for small sheets of ABS or HIPS and order the small sheets to use as backing strips/shims. BTW, I responded to you PM about the forearms.

Hey Andy, you are doing it correctly in the same way that Panda did his. I took your pix and gave you a little diagram to go by (see below). The ridge area is actually something that was found on the ROTJ biceps, like the theory part of the diagram. The AM's are just suppose to be overlapping, but Panda used/kept the one side ridge of the AM bicep, which is fine. In all actuality, the screen used ANH TK armor (then re-used in ESB) the biceps did not have the ridge on either end. See the diagram that I made showing an original screen use ANH bicep and my bicep. When I did my AM, I actually cut off the ridge and made it more in the vein of what the ANH and ESB biceps were like. I also took the time to remove the thumb print from the right bicep, it is not a necessary thing, just a pet peeve of mine, and just to see if I could do it. As far as I know, I am the only one that has done this to their AM biceps. (See below) But I am actually helping someone who will be in my local Garrison do his build and we are doing his in the same vein as mine. If you have already trimmed/fitted your bicep armor to your arm, then do not do what I did (remove the ridge) because your bicep will be too small for your arm.

Hi Andy, Ok the AM kit is made for the over lapped construction. In this pic (see below) you are over lapping the A and B part in the right way. and you will do the same for the forearms and thighs, if you are going to do it the over lapping way. I did my AM build with the butt joint and used a cover strip ( by doing this, it gets the kit closer to the look of the screen used suits). Cover strips for biceps and forearms are 13mm (measured off an original ANH TK) or you can go up to 15mm if you need to. Cover strips for the Thighs, front and back are 23mm (measured off an original ANH TK) Cover strips for the shins, front are 23mm, and back 25mm (measured off an original ANH TK) There have been a few AM builds that have used the butt joint added cover strips method. Here is a thread build that will help you out: http://forum.whitear...am&fromsearch=1

Hey Luis, I had to go by a Home Depot today. I found a Potable Pressure Pipe (in black) that the resin cap of a DoopyDoos E11 fits without Modding the pipe. It says "1/14" OD, but 11/4" is roughly 42mm. But, I used a micrometer to the pipes they had, and they all are 40mm OD. Home Depot Plumbing area. Here is the UPC code: 8 11000 04125 8 11/4" x 2' NSF 100 PSI Poly Pipe $1.70 USD + tax

A Live Action Boba Fett Movie May Be Happening
RogueTrooper replied to RogueTrooper's topic in Off Topic
It may be a lack of imagination on behalf of the game writers, but Lucas has also been known to say that if it hasn't been published in a novel or put on the big screen, that it never existed. This means that even though it is in a draft, that it did not matter because it did not end up in a normal way in the publics hands. The Starkiller name actually showed up in several drafts with the characters first name changing, plus the characters themselves (see below). All the way into the filming of the first movie, Luke's last name was Starkiller, then changed during filming to Skywalker. The 2007, The making of Star Wars, The Definitive Story behind the original film, by J.W. Rinzler has all the info that I am talking about and is a great read. Annikin Starkiller, Kane Starkiller, Deak Starkiller and Luke Starkiller. So if Lucas can rewrite the Star Wars history, like he did with the prequels, I would not put it past uncle George to reuse a name in an 38 years old draft. -
A Live Action Boba Fett Movie May Be Happening
RogueTrooper replied to RogueTrooper's topic in Off Topic
Anything is possible, I was thinking that LFL would do a Starkiller Trilogy ( base on The Force Unleashed games) The story of Galen Marek, Vader's secret apprentice, codenamed "Starkiller" -
Hey all, The other night I was talking to Mason/Dashrazor and he said he saw something about Joe Johnston (ex-ILM, turned director) trying to get the most famous bounty hunter his own stand alone movie, and possibly have Jeremy Bullock (the OT Boba Fett) to do a cameo. Read more here: http://www.firstshow...save-star-wars/ I truly would love to see this happen, my only problem is that Boba Fett's history and character have been re-written from the time of the original Trilogy. Originally Boba Fett was born Jaster Mereel and became a young journeyman protector or law enforcement officer on the planet Concord Dawn. When he supposedly killed a corrupt protector, he was tried and stripped of his possessions and exiled. Later after the Clone wars, he became known as Boba Fett and worked as a mercenary, a soldier of fortune, personal guard, an assassin, and the role he was best know for, a bounty hunter. Jeremy Bullock said he drew from Clint Eastwood's spaghetti western character (the man with no name). The re-written history for the prequels is that Boba Fett is a test tube baby that was given to Jango Fett as part payment from the Kamino (Cloners) for using Jango's DNA for the Clone army. Tell me this, which one had you rather see a story about, the original history or the re-written history that follows the prequels? For me it is a no brainer, the original.

The pix of the INC and TKC are from "The force unleashed". I think what the game designers were trying to do with the INC and TKC, was to bring some flavor of the Ralph McQuarrie TK concept.. This is same thing that Lucas did throughout the Prequels, to dig up old concepts that never made it into the original Trilogy. Just like some of the concept costumes for Princess Leia that were never used, were brought back for Padme and the same goes for some of the other costumes throughout the Prequels, plus, vehicles and weapons that were a concept for the OT. For example, the original concept for the AT-AT was a short stocky vehicle with multiple wheels. As you know the ESB AT-AT ended up as a very tall machine with four legs. But, when it came time to make a vehicle for the Clone army, the original concept for the AT-AT was brought in and made into the Clones Turbo Tank. I could keep going on, but the list is rather lengthy. I know how you feel, I love the E11 blaster .. to quote Han Solo: "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."

First I want to say that the FISD has been a home for anyone that has enthusiasm for the TK's , whether they are 501st or non 501st, and always will be. Secondly, everyone should feel free to express their views about, and promote the 501st and the FISD anytime and anywhere they please. To Rob: Anytime that you can bring aboard new members for the FISD and/or the 501st, do so. This goes for anyone, as well. Each one of the members here are valuable assets to the FISD no matter if you become 501st or just want to be a Stormtrooper enthusiast. Tom

When I say this, I not just speaking for myself but all the staff and the FISD members as well..... Without you Paul, we would not be were we are today, and we are grateful for having you as our DL. To quote John Quincy Adams: "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader."

Anytime that you can promote the FISD in a good light, I say go for it. The blast doors to the whitearmor.net are always open to anyone. Have fun Rob at the entertainment and media show. You will have to tell us about when you get back. To me it sounds like a load of fun. Tom
