wal-mart voice changer feedback
kiyotei replied to psychotropic's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I found the cheap mic from radio shack really adds to the feedback problem. I switched to a small clip on mic which helps. Its powered by a watch type battery. Its designed to clip onto your shirt or collar. Its also much smaller than other powered mics since it uses a tiny battery vs the AAA type. I also isolated the mic a bit by placing a piece of gel insole from my shoes between the mic and the helmet. -
Scott, why are you renting a hose??? i was thinking of attending this event but now I'm a little scared.

Original trooper boots
kiyotei replied to troopermaster's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I followed the instructions from a cobbler and found that they cracked quickly and after a few times wearing them they looked like crap. I'm much happier with the caboots. The finish is much more durable. -
Yes he knows the movies really well. That's a bit of a problem because I've had to weave a very tangled web of lies, he asks way too many questions. He wanted to know how Vader is still alive if he died in the movies. Together we concluded that Vader tricked Luke by using a robot that looked like Vader. Luke watched a robot die while the real Vader escaped. I later thought that perhaps I should have gone with Vader had himself cloned. I also explained to him that the rebels made the movies so the stories are of course slanted to make them look like the good guys. I had to also explain to him we troopers are not allowed to travel with real thermo detonators and blasters for security reasons. We only carry the real stuff when we are on active duty in space or on our secret bases here on earth. Its really hard to keep up with all my lies, LOL.

Hi Scott, Great job on my Elite pic. I love the background choice!

I had the same problem with my AP. I couldn't reach my head and had a lot of pinching on the inner arm. I trimmed the length just a little which didn't help. TK4201 recommended that I cut out the inner arm near the elbow as TroopMaster recommends. That helped a lot. I also trimmed the length of the bicep piece. I'm only 5'7" and AP is made for someone who is 5'11". I still occasionally get some pinch. I pull the forearm piece down towards my wrists, put my helmet on and then pull them back up into place. I like the idea of trimming a little bit just on the inside of the wrist area to give you a little flexibility there. I may have to try that out.

I believe the straps holding your drop boxes must be white, they look to be black. -
Replacing snaps and elastic with straps and clips
kiyotei replied to Trooper Jerry's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
post a few pics so we can see how everything is attached. if you know what kind of glue was used that would help. I've been able to pry off glued on pieces, sand the area to remove remaining glue and then glue a new piece. Though it depends on the type of glue used. It its an ABS welder then not sure what you can do. If you have snap points already on the armor, then you just need to make new strapping. -
I can't decide if I'm ruining my 8 yo nephew or not. First I showed him my AP armor, blew his mind. Then I built him his own armor out of foamie foam. He loves it. He was a bit surprised that JoAnn Fabrics sells blaster proof material but I told him its a secret outlet for the empire. He also thinks I spend the weekends on the Death Star. So now to make things worse I sent him a letter from Darth Vader. I created letter head using the red circular logo for the 501st on the top left and on the bottom center I posted the Garrision Titan logo which shows up below any of my posts. I then typed in text welcoming him to the legion as a JUNIOR Stormtrooper. I even assigned him a TK number and signed it lord Vader. I used the same formatting that Daetrin uses on our garrison site to welcome new members to the garrison. I wanted to post the letter on here cause it looks so real but I can't figure out how to link to a word doc. Anyhow, he took the letter to school to show his teacher and his friends. He was so excited. He really thinks Vader sent him a letter. I knda mentioned to him the last time I visited that during the night Darth Vader blew up the moon while everyone was sleeping and parked the Death Star in its place, LOL. I am really terrible

the arms look totally wrong. They are really loose fitting, not form fitting like in movie pics. the shoulder straps also look way off.

You got all that done in one day??? Wow you work fast. Did you have the helmet already?

Tk9323 Requesting ANH Elite Status.[15][FX]
kiyotei replied to tk9323's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Way to go Christian. Congrats. Good idea shinning the light inside the helmet so we could see the green lens. -
I think a lot of us use a cloth strap to support the weight and the white plastic straps are just for looks. I'm pretty sure a fair number of troopers don't even secure the white straps to the back plate.

Real World Items - Glasses, keys, wallet, etc.
kiyotei replied to Murray1134's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
I've had my TD fall off a couple of times and would not have noticed if it hadn't make such a racket when it hit the ground. Of course I didn't know it was my TD at the time. I like the travel pouch hanging around your neck for money, keys, etc. I wear contacts. I have very small glasses and find it very hard to fit them in my AP helmet. As far as fogging goes, TK9323 and I are working on mods for that problem. He found that you install some neoprene above the mouth and press your face into it, it prevents your breadth from reaching the lens. I have not been able to fit my helmet that tight so I tried installing a thicker foam above the mouth all the way across the mouth. It forces all of your breadth out of the mouth opening which really helps reduce fogging. I have not trooped with this yet so no final report on this mod. I can say from past experience, most of my fogging happens when I have to talk to people or breath thru my mouth. I think this will help a lot. I also added slots to the back of my helmet for venting, will update on that thread with pics when I'm finally done with the mod. -
Never mind I figured it out. Its an avatar. Ok, I notice most guys on here have a pic or image that shows up on the left hand side of the screen when they post a response in a thread. I added a small pic to my profile but I guess that is not the same thing. So how do I do this???

I was thinking Krylon as well. Ah, the blaster is all back, so no need for that part. I want to add silver paint for some detail.
-
anybody have paint type suggestion for hyperfirm blasters? or is any type of paint fine?
-
yep that is what I'm talking about. Did you paint any other parts of the blaster? Does anyone know if this will affect Elite status in a negative way?
-
all the photos of the E-11 blasters such as the hyperfirm model are all black. I was looking on the Elite page application pics. I was thinking of painting some of the fine details silver which would include screws, the bullet ejection port cover (no idea what you really call it).
