  1. Hi Daniel Looking awesome, as always!! [emoji1] Just a quick question - how will this stand up to a wet troop? Are you sealing the weathering with something on top of the hairspray? Thanks in advance.

  3. Dan covered most bases so my small contribution will be about this: making the screws more flush is only a good thing (less prone to catching each other or the plastic) but like Dan said about the ear screws it’s important not to go to heavy, some choose to reinforce the return edge with plastic tabs were the brackets go. And - great job

  4. Hi mate, Tube stripes - yours are looking good now. The tube stripes were pretty consistent across the original trilogy, although the ESB and ROTJ lids used stickers/decals rather than hand painted. A very popular style of template is the Dave M style. Here’s some dims for your reference. Regarding the ear screws, a little bit of countersinking is good, just be careful not to go through plastic to a point where the screw won’t have resistance. You can see here on the “Dave M / set for stun” helmet that the screws are countersunk - not all the way but just enough not to be poking out. Hope that helps. Keep up the good work. Dan

  5. My armourer at the UKG reckoned that my tube stripes were a little large, and after a bit of trawling through here it looks like pandatrooper gives a different size for the templates than they should be. The template thread reckons they should be 13/16" (~21mm), but the desired size seems to be about 15-16mm. Are they different for different films? Are mine now too small? Are pandatrooper's too big? Is the RS helmet tiny? Are my measuring instruments too big? If anyone more knowledgeable could chime in, thanks! I finished most of the painting on the helmet today, the vocoder, tube stripes, trap and tear stripes. I could probably spend the next few weeks tweaking the painting, but if you see anything particularly egregious please let me know. I also made a start on the strapping in the back, it'll soon be time to break out the sewing machine! For the screws on the helmet the CRL says "Ear screws shall be slotted, flat topped, countersunk and painted white.", which mine are but, should they be countersunk in to the plastic? I looked through the helmet shots in the gallery and starwarshelmets but couldn't find a clear answer. Some of the helmets look like the screws have been left proud, and some look like they've been countersunk and then painted in place. I have the same question about the screws for the strapping, again I've looked through the galleries but couldn't find shot which makes it obvious.

  6. Great progress so far. Except for glove ripping Not sure if you're aware but belt is on the narrow side compared to the normal 3" width. Mine is 2 1/4" wide. Keep the updates coming Commander!

  9. Turns out not that great, to my surprise I might ad.....it was raining that day and I took the pics outside and there were "rain-drops" pretty much all over...easy fix by dabbing it with a sponge but weren`t expecting that.....I had an efx helmet that I did the same to and had a hard (well...) time removing the weathering and using warm water alone didn`t cut it so based on that I thought it would hold up better (different hair spray might play a part).....but still not planning on adding a top coat, although I´m not planning on removing the weathering I still want the option. Solution - going heavier with the hairspray and see how that holds up

  11. As mentioned, you should have no problems getting basic approval with this kit, Robyn. If you are (hopefully) aiming for EI and Centurion you should have no major problems, just a few tweaks here and there. If I can be of any help, just PM me.

  12. Yeah it's not suppose to be painted. But, the screws for the bracket system should be painted which are also seen in the photo on the kidney plate.

  13. Upper right ab snap not supposed to be painted...as per movie worn costume. Specifically, it’s to remain unpainted. I’d produce a photo but I’m on my phone and about to shut it down for the night.

  14. Thanks for the help guys. I'm probably going to get the tie pilot kit from Rs first as its much more affordable at the moment (as I'm currently working on a Mando kit as well) and iv been wanting to join up for 2 or so years now so wanting to speed up the process a bit. Then once I have the tie kit start saving for the storm trooper kit

  15. For items I absolutely need to carry at some times I have a small zip bag I can attach inside my thigh armour, it’s thin and will allow phone, cards and such. Bare in mind I do have thin legs so plenty of room in the thigh area. I know others have a bag which has a neck strap and will fit behind the chest area. i do have a removable cap which has elastic on the inside of my TD but decided not to use as I’ve heard TD’s can be taken occasionally. Really it’s up to available space and how quickly you need to access what you are carrying Most of the time wranglers help carry our valuables and such so if you have one handy that’s your best bet.

  16. Hi everybody, I had a scenario last night that could have made me very discouraged but I've stayed on top! While taking away BlastFX from my doopydoos blaster having done a test fit, I accidently ripped one of the wires to my on/off switch! By this time, I've already soldered four wires to my selector switch ... so I was able to keep my cool. With careful attention to detail and keeping it cool, I did a decent solder job with heat shrink tubing to boot! Really happy how I was able to recover from this mishap. So glad I made my soldering station with all the supplies in tow and ready to go! I was back in the race before I knew it. In having flushed out the notches on the end cap part of things, I decided to continue with the detailing by creating the buttplate spring plate as seen from the folding stock handle. I used styrene plastic via score and snap method. Will use E-6000 to glue. cheers!

  18. Welcome to the FISD! Below, in the next 3 posts, you will find the lists of our Imperial Attachés. These are respected folks who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, and have been selected to welcome you to the world of shiny white armor! They are volunteers whose duties (in part) are to assist you on a local level to achieve your goal of joining the 501st Legion as Imperial Stormtroopers. Not all Garrisons, Squads, or Outposts may have them, in which case you should refer to the one that is closest. If you wish to contact your local Attaché regarding local events, activities, etc., you can PM (personal message) them here by simply clicking on their highlighted screen name, (example: @justjoseph63) Please note that again, these are volunteers, and may not be able to get back to you immediately, but if you have trouble getting in touch with someone, please feel free to contact @Nairy via PM. If you are a 501st approved Trooper who wishes to join the ranks of the Attachés, please get in touch with @Nairy and/or visit http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/15252-fisd-attaché-program/ Each Garrison is shown in ORANGE.
