EXCITEMENT ALERT!! ;-) Well, it’s not totally finished, however I fitted the grip tonight. To mask the inner curved parts of the trigger, I decided to try something a little different and used children’s Play-Doh. Amazingly, it worked well. :-) Whilst I didn’t take specific pictures of everything, I fitted the grip to the body with screws and E6000. Trigger fitted and working. Power cylinders weathered - I used a rag and sprayed metallic silver onto the rag and gently dabbed where required. Fitted remaining screws. Attached trigger guard. For this, I used super glue and them filled around the guard with greenstuff. Time will tell how this holds up. I still have a few bits to do, including hand painting/weathering the ejection port. And here’s some pictures. A few finishing touches and we’ll be done. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Thanks buddy! I've got a folder on my computer packed with reference photos and guides, which I'll be using heavily. I'm stocked up on E6000 and am actually pretty good with scoring and snapping since I've used the method to build hobby models. I've started trimming the shoulder straps a bit, and luckily my armor purchase came with two sets in case of a mess up. I'll definitely be focusing on the arm and leg armor primarily at the build party, but also will be working on getting the chest/back/kidney etc. armor lined up and spaced properly to ensure a correct fit and make sure everything sits where it is supposed to sit. But yeah, this site is full of amazing info which I'll be referencing during and after the build!2 points

So during Force Friday II the new Phasma novel came out. I don't want to give out any spoilers but there is a new character named Captain Cardinal. He is a captain in the First Order much like Phasma, however he is in charge of training and conditioning the younger recruits while Phasma is in charge of teenagers through regular troopers. Here he is on the special Barnes and Noble edition poster that came with the book. And here he is with a helmet on appearing on the back cover of the book. There are also some descriptions of him in the book. From everything I gathered the only difference between him and a regular FOTK is the Captain's cape and The red hue of everything he wears/uses. Would this even be an armor that could be approved? I was just about to start a FOTK and I absolutely fell in love with this character and his motivations. Plus him armor is pretty sweet lol. So before I get started trying to paint/dye everything red I wanted to check on here about it first. If not then I'll get to work on my normal FOTK so no harm no foul.1 point

So for those of you who haven't seen my New CRL post I've got my heart set on one of the newest characters to come out of Force Friday II. Captain Cardinal! Sadly these are the only two images we have of him. The first is an exclusive poster from Barnes and Noble and the other is the back cover of the book. There are plenty on descriptions of him in the book although he is a regular FOTK with a red paint scheme lol. At any rate I was planning on doing a regular TFA FOTK before the book was released so I was already in motion to do it. Time to just add a cape and change the color scheme from white to red! I already have a set of TK7 gloves and boots from Imperialboots but they are still white. I'm unsure about dyeing them so if anybody has any tips or a trustworthy process for doing it then I'm going to wait until IB does their run of red. I also have my undersuit from stormtrooperundersuit.com. I also picked up my helmet from KB Props on Monday. Gotta go with the local armor maker right? I'm so stoked to be working with him and hopefully the rest of my garrison on this. At this point I realized I didn't grab my clip greeblies so last night i got them an attached. I didn't really take a good picture of the process but here they are attached. I also started painting the cheek greeblies black. I hope to make more process this weekend!1 point

Welcome back Simon and thank you for your Centurion application. CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required submission photos are present. SLAM DUNK! on those repairs, Excellent job! Thank you for making the updates suggested during your EIB application, we can tell you really wanted that Centurion badge. Andrew and I are pleased to say your armor displays all the elements as set out in the Centurion CRL. Congratulate and welcome to Centurion rank!! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: If we had anything to add here to be to blacken the blaster scope a bit. Other than that you're golden brother. Time to head out and make the Empire and your garrison proud.1 point

Looks sweet! congrats getting that together. Weathering looks just right , not overdone. Your efforts to make your blaster look like the real deal have certainly paid off. Super trooper job!1 point

I used a white version on my build and didn`t have an issue but you could tape it on the inside just to be safe And you don`t have to taper it if it restricts your movements, it looks fine as is, from the pic it looked like there was some room for it which would help in giving that sleek "movie-look", however doing so wouldn`t make the top to flare out, just make sure it`s securely taped in the back, at the very top of the thigh keeping it together as you reduce the eventual gap at the knee. AND...You might want to wait in doing any final cutting until you got your shins taped up to see how it looks together---it`s all about the look Which brings me to mobility well...it sucks..plain and simple someone wrote somwhere on this forum that "all the rebels had to do to prevent the stormtroopers to charge their secret base was to ad a step or two" If you want/need to you can cut some out of the back of the tighs/shins like these troopers did (a bit hard to see) Personally I want to minimize the black showing so I didn`t cut any and this is how I walk (sorry if I clutter your build with all of my stuff)1 point

I built 2 suits and used zap-a-gap on both I have zero jedi-patience but anyways..use which ever glue you`re comfortable with and I agree with you on amazing info, reading all this stuff is just as fun as the actual building and ....it´s addictive to, currently waiting on my third set and can`t wait to start a new build1 point

If sanding or wear and tear goes through all paint layers, I use to repair these spots with dry brush technique. This always worked fine so far and adds a believable look to the blaster as time goes by... Would not worry about that.1 point

Thank you, both. I'm cautiously weathering as I don't want to go TOO far. I want it to look "screen used" rather than one that's gone through the "garbage smashers on the detention level"! lol Once the grip is attached I can review the main/likely contact points and continue from there. Looks like I'll have to learn to dry-brush in a few places, namely the ejection port, a little on the scope and counter as in a couple of very small places my light sanding appears to have reached the primer. This might be due to thinner paint layers in certain areas. Rookie mistake... I do have a question, though. Seeing how easy is is to weather, trooping is going to take it's toll on the paint. A little is fine, but going through to the primer or resin is going to look awful. Is there a protective clear coat that people use? Or just leave it as it is and be prepared to touch-up any damaged areas? Thanks in advance. :-)1 point

Really looking good, Dan. Cannot wait to see it with all the other parts attached and weathered.1 point

Thanks for the encouraging words. I've certainly been through ukswrath's thread several times. And I'm going back to it! So I broke everything out of the box and took stock of the parts. I think this is everything, or at least I don't think anything is missing: I thought I should also list some of the parts I have that aren't pictured. I have Imperial Boots, a Darman neck seal, a 2-piece undersuit, both rubber gloves and cloth flight gloves, misc. building supplies (snaps, elastic, nylon, etc.) I'm sure I'll need to get a few things along the way...but I think I'm in good shape to start building. And so with that, I plan to get started on the arms. I'll update when I accomplish something -Dana1 point

Well, I’ve had quite a productive evening. Grip is coming on with the gloss. Not all spots have gone but it’s looking better. And the below pictures say the rest really. Started some light weathering and have quite a few parts fitted. Hopefully can add a few more parts tomorrow. Nearly there. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Sorry to ask here, but since when EIB and Centurion levels were created and where are the threads? Changes to CRLs are supposed to be debated and voted by the whole FISD community and not just the staff before being applied.1 point
