Goldtiger Posted January 5 Report Posted January 5 Hello everyone, I’ve been interested in joining the 501st since I was about 16. About three years ago I started building a Captain Rex armor, which is nearly finished, but due to limited free time it’s been slow going. A member of my local garrison is now selling his Stormtrooper armor. It’s from Shepperton Studios, bought almost 10 years ago, previously approved, and still in very good condition. The sale includes: – E-11 blaster – Heavy Weapons Trooper accessories (backpack, pauldron, pouch) – Travel case The armor reportedly needs no major adjustments; I would only need to purchase boots. He’s asking €1300 for the full set. Would you consider this a fair price, or is it too high given the age and maker? Quote

Unless you are the exact same size/build as this person, you will likely have to make adjustments. If they've super-glued it all together that could be a lot of work to redo, or require significant rebuilding. As far as I know it requires re-approval for a new buyer so it's not a shortcut (if that was the intent). 10 years is a long time whether in frequent use, or sitting in a bin. Quote

A few pieces on SDS armor is not correct, members have made modifications so it will pass L3 Centurion, you don't get much better than @Helotechbuild Hi pre approval thread with some info Another pre approval SDS Personally I think the price is reasonable with a HWT backpack but photos would give a better idea of condition Quote
themaninthesuitcase[Admin] Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 At 10 years old the plastic is going to be well past it's best, and the SDS kit is far from my favourite. Personally I'd pass. Quote
Goldtiger Posted January 6 Author Report Posted January 6 Thanks for your replies. I will certainly go take a look at the armor in real life. The person is on holiday now but he sent me some pics from his last troop, everything seems pretty good. If it all fits well and only minor adjustments are needed, I will probably take it :) 2 Quote

One thing to consider is that if the armour is approved from 10 years ago, Things may have changed in the CRL and what may have been okay back then may not be okay now. We recently had someone with an SDS kit that he bought years ago apply and even though he was told back then it would be okay, it is not approvable at this current time. 1 Quote
Goldtiger Posted January 8 Author Report Posted January 8 Good to know. Is there something that shows the evolution of the CRL through the years ? Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 Members build threads are the only guide to how things have changed over the years. When a CRL changes it is literally overwritten, so unless someone has downloaded one every time before it has been updated, there is no way to see. Also, we have transitioned to a new platform for all the CRL's Legion wide so to my knowledge there is no way to go back to see the old system either. 1 Quote
