Boots for the Anh Tk

Hello everyone,

I would like to use these boots as the base for my TK.

My question is whether they would pass a level three approval after I paint them white.

Since the sole has to be completely flat according to CRL, I'm not sure.

I'll leave this to the DO's but that sole and heel look a bit too chunky IMO.  Not an issue at basic, but for Lvl3 I think there are better options available.

One problem you will find with a lot of boots is the ankle heights, proper TK boots have a higher ankle, this prevents them coming outside of the shins when walking. 

 

Compare with screen used boots, note the height of the boot

 

Also should not have ridges in sole

 

 

From the CRL:

Boots

• Boots are above ankle height and made of white leather or leather-like material.
• Small U-shaped elastic sections on both sides of the ankle.
• Flat sole with a short heel.
• No buckles or laces.
• Jodhpur/ Chelsea-type boots or an equivalent style is acceptable.
  • Elvis or Mariachi boots are not allowed.

 

Ultimately it is your GML (garrison membership liaison) who looks after basic approval so you could reach out the he/she/they/them as to their thoughts

I'm not a DO, but I am a GML.

 

IMO, the sole and heel are fine for basic... personally, I would likely be ok with them... marginally, but ok... for Level 3.  The DOs here are the ones who will be judging L3, however, not me.

 

That said, even if you decide you don't care about L3, I'd recommend against those shoes for the reasons mentioned above:  Modern Chelsea boots, unfortunately, tend to be very wide so they're easy to put on.  It really doesn't matter with most modern pants, but the extra depth of that foot opening would be a bloody nightmare with armor that has to go over it.  It's shorter than the special purpose shoes, AND much wider.  Really terrible combination to try to close armor around.

Keep trooping and crow props are where most get their boots.

There is a new Spanish manufacturer that makes very good quality boots, valid for all levels. I don't know what the price is, but you can send them a message and ask.

I would suggest buying a pair of boots from "Keep Trooping". I agree with others that the boots you have are gonna be tough to wear in order to have the shin armor cover them correctly at the top.
