Several of the TFA updates carry over as freebies due to the way the templates are built, more reference now so may need to make some things that are currently shared separate.

PS: Feel free to split off if needed:

One topic JAFO and I discussed after TFA updates was the F-11 picture was incorrect, should have a black rear sight for regular and white rear sight for the scaled-up version.

He sent me some photos but I need to get them off of FB and into here, will try and do so this next week.

Cool.
I think we will definitely run these two CRL’s
as one with the two seperate and very clearly marked weapons load outs.

There had been no screen references given of the scaled up version at that the time to compare with size variance to standard blaster.

I don’t really know if we should split it into two versions per se but at a minimum call out that either color sight is acceptable.

The TLJ F-11 had some differences anyway if I recall.

Pulling in some info and pics from some other threads, I haven't gone through them yet to remove anything not directly needed but didn't want to loose the info after I've been searching for an hour ;)

The current CRL doesn’t address two other known differences between TFA and TLJ troopers ... the forearm shape is different and so too are the helmet clips. They are flat rather than indented.

8f4f9649933752265abfb27eab2650ba.jpg

The real forearm difference is the shape at the elbow. A different cut altogether.

The area you’ve highlighted as ‘grey ‘ is actually a dome head Allen key bolt. This was one of two bolts used to affix the Picatinny rail on the TLJ kits.

There are three different cod shapes seen in TLJ and I trust the CRL will address this in time.

It’s hard to enforce the all black end cap as standard when the TFA TD is seen several times in TLJ.

Admittedly the TLJ TD was a complete redesign from TFA but it’s hard to ignore the facts seen above.

F-11D HEAVY BLASTER
Approximately 20% larger than the standard F-11D blaster and equipped with a tactical shoulder stock.

Only question is whether carrying the Heavy Blaster is restricted to troopers wearing ammo vests.

Great mod on the TD. Like you, I used a can lid to add the extra length. I took things even further by cutting out the strip on the back of the TD to make it more accurate to TLJ.

The TFA TDS were solid resin and weighed 1.5kgs. For TLJ they completely redesigned the TD, cut-out the apertures and created a lightweight insert.

In these images you can also see the cocking lever through the rail. Looks like TFA reuse likely.

It seems inconclusive based on different reference. Here’s a whole bunch more for reference.

Just returned from a third viewing and there's lots of fun stuff to be caught when watching the FOTK scenes very closely.

There's a scene on Kijimi that is reversed, so the calf greeblies appear on the right leg. There are bendy cod pieces all over the place, a cracking thigh split as Poe et al escape the Star Destroyer, and then there is the case of the shortening TD end cap.

As you can seen from the pic below the trooper on screen right has the standard width black end cap (approx. 1in/25mm), whereas trooper left as a much shorter end cap. It's all black so isn't a TFA TD. Given the TD cylinder is an insert it looks like they were prone to getting pushed further in to the holder.

I spotted this issue a few times and it can also be seen in the 'Jedi Mind Trick' scene.

One really funny thing is that the white cap on the magazine is glued on backwards! Haha, I wonder if all the blasters in the film will have that same issue.

There's also two visible vent holes in the barrel at each end of the top t-track. However, the heavy F-11D linked in the first post of this thread doesn't have them, so it might just be an error from the propmakers specific to this blaster.

vlcsna25.jpg

Ooh, the cocking channel has been swaped from the left/hand side of the blaster to the right/hand side. That's kind of an important design modification actually.

Blaster

I think you would need to show examples of the blaster size difference, would be easier for those looking at the CRL's to see a noticeable difference.

Could be confusing for those who reference the TFA Visual Dictionary which shows a F-11D blaster with "removable stock" it would make no sense for the blaster to have a removable stock if the blaster was only going to be upsized for heavy/vest troopers, after all standard troopers are not seen (that I'm aware off) with the addition of the removable stock only on heavy/vest troopers so there should be mention of two different versions (sizes) of the F-11D blaster.

I used this as a reference but it is still open to interpretation as the heavy/vest trooper is slightly more in the foreground and the rotation of the blaster showing less black so appears thinner.

This is the issue, really need definitive references not just approximate open to interpretation sizing ;)

Just out of curiosity can we confirm if any of the TFA details are NOT visible in the TLJ or TROS? The reason I ask is if these are just variants then we can note it in the CRL instead of stating they doesn't exist in later versions.

These are great photos Andrew.

1) The TD canister base sides are not flush with the edge of the back plate. Indented at least 3-6mm

2) There's substantial gap and indent between the left cap and tube, 2-3mm

3) Horizonal indent at the top of the tub is stepped and a black decal at the  lowest level (so I suspect)

OK lets get the ball rolling with this CRL as I think we know what we need to do here.

  • We need a new CRL model so we can fix this obvious TD issue, also do we have anyone with the correct TLJ/Tros blaster as those images will need to be included.
  • Clip differences between TFA and TLJ obvious on the helmet (is it all greeblies that are different)
  • Update blaster sites for TFA TLJ white and black size dependent. Correct blaster must be carried for costume. I say this as we are looking at adding TroS difference to the one CRL. (Accessories list update and informative).
  • Spat's, very close and not sure if any of the makers are actually doing the TLJ version yet but happy to be wrong.
  • Forearm cut difference
  • Distinction on overlap of inside seam for EI and Centurion.
  • Do we have a clear screen reference that shows the neck seal zipper at the front. If not leave it out but don't penalize anyone for having it accurate. No makers of this that I am aware.
  • 11 rib distinction for Centurion neck seal.
  • Cuffs for an additional accessory.
  • Electro prod accessory for TroS
  • Pic rail on blaster TroS

I will have to put forum cleanup on hold for the time being if I'm to spend time on this.

Reference of front facing zip.

Zip can just be made out in this image

Will check for other images.

Was also mentioned by one of the costume department in Facebook groups in regards to them being worn on the front from TLJ onwards. Also same with Sithtroopers as well.

Forearm difference at inner elbow

No problem Glen, you probably deserve a break from the tedium of that job for sure.

A group of us will get this nutted out and we shall take feedback from any that wish to input along the way.

Team work!

  • Two clip greeblies are present over the traps on the side.
  • Two clip greebles are present on the top of the helmet, parallel to the trap greeblies.

ADD

Greeblies are different to TFA, they have grooves but are almost flat, also no small rectangle recess and they sit in a larger recess area

  • Seven cut out tube stripe slots are on each side of the helmet.

ADD

OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):

The seven recessed tube stripe slots on each side of the helmet are fully cut out.

Sounds good.

Do you or have you made a set? we will need a good clear image for the CRL.

Wording is not my strong suit and may need to be changed as I'm not a wordsmith.

Correct images will also need to be added

  • Neckseal
    • Black with horizontal ribs, fitted to the wearer, and extending from the base of the neck to conceal the entire neck. No hair or skin should be visible around the neck area.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):

Neckseal is worn with zip facing forwards

OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):
    • Ideally, the neckseal shall have 11 ribs.
    • The neckseal has a glossy finish.

zx9MyMg.png

  • Thermal Detonator
    • The thermal detonator mounting plate sits under the back plate and rests above the belt.
    • The small slot along the top of the detonator is black
    • The control panel is black.
    • The righthand recessed end cape is black.
    • The left hand end cap extends from the detonator assembly and is black all around the cylinder as well as the end surface.
    • The left-hand end cap extends from the detonator assembly and is all black.
    • There should be no visible seams.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    • Small section of black around the base of the left extended end cap shall be present.
    • The thermal detonator is not molded to the mounting plate, showing a clear separation
    •

OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):

The end cap is part of a tube which extends into the length of the detonator

The small recess along the top of the detonator is cut out showing the black tube inside

The control panel along the back of the detonator is cut out showing the black tube inside

Hi Gentlemen , would like to point the word "Ideally" we usually see in several CRLs .

When making a review (not only FO TK)  it looks like the ideally word feels like a "you can meet the requirement if you want , nothing happens" .

L2 and L3 requirements, IMO,  should be  a must.  Thoughs?

:salute:

I think from memory "Ideally" was added to the FO CRL's as there was only one clear image at the time showing the neckseal having 11 ribs and no proof others were the same.

11 here:

zx9MyMg.png 239667430_imageproxy(1).thumb.png.5fbd7cc35367b9d4d404d766e5fc410c.png

But looking at these two images there only appears to be 10 ribs (right side trooper, oh and disregard the arrows ;) )

02271373-93A1-46C6-83B3-BA59E50F12C4_zpsdroxxgyy.jpg.6117b46033d552adf84834189c119898.jpg

10 here as well

Going off other images it appears 11 ribs is consistent throughout other TLJ/TROS costumes though

  • Forearms
    • Forearms shall have have ridged rail, similar to a picatinny, embedded on the inside of the forearm, roughly covered 1/3rd by a box shape.
    • Forearms shall have a box on the bottom the wrist end.
    • On top of each box shall have is a single black square in the lower inside corner.
    • On the end of each box there is a small black rectangle on the outer side.
    • Each forearm shall have two 'clasp greeblies' on the outside facing surface, near the wrist.
    • Detail box includes black rectangle on small edge perpendicular and closest to wrist.
    • On the underside of the wrist on the end is an oval black detail

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    • On the ridged rail the third retaining button head closest to elbow is to be either painted grey, a grey decal or a screw/bolt.
    • Forearm elbow end should have the correct cut/inner curve (opposite to TFA)
    •

OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):

Forearm wrist box should be a separate piece and affixed to forearms.

Forearm top plate is not attached at front of wrists.

untitledggggg.png.70f4b022f9f22071b943670c1219368d.png 1035208920_TLJarms.png.0b4af8c930ffafcb706721e108055e6d.png

Also the CRL image shows the lower box inner details on the outside, should be on the inside, but the forearm images may need to be changed if we add the angle/cut of the inner elbow

WRONG

CORRECT

958768681_TFA_TK_forearmscorrect.thumb.png.e12416a1eb7e83c1feb57dd8dd62d391.png

FYI in the above image it shows the other clips/greebles on TLJ/TROS are the same as TFA (unlike the helmet clips/greebles)
