trooper96[501st]
I am building a helmet with ESB details and have a question regarding painting the frown. I have seen some that paint the teeth down to the 5th indent and stop there. Others paint through the indent to a sharp corner. Which is more correct? Also, if painting to a sharp corner, is the 5th indent ever skipped like an ANH frown?
RLH2515[TK]
my ESB bucket on the left I went to the very end of the frown. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haribon72[TK]
Hello Bryan, I enjoyed watching this video.------------------ It gives me a lot of inspiration when I paint the ESB helmets. Hope this helps. Edited June 16, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working, removed gmrhodes13 2021
trooper96[501st]
Thanks, guys! One more question... Do the blue tube stripe decals need to have the white backing, or can the stripes be applied directly to the helmet? Haribon72[TK]
For ESB....it will need white backing tape then the blue stripes on top.

themaninthesuitcase[Admin]
For ESB....it will need white backing tape then the blue stripes on top. The stripes where printed decals where they not? Same as the traps and so on.

Yes, only the frown and vocoder were hand painted. As for the frown, it's the same as ANH, except it's black.
The5thHorseman[TK]
Ears too were hand painted. By the way, here's some awesome decals close-ups from an ESB helmet. It's funny because they have always looked "hand-painted" decals to me.
troopermaster
The decals were screen printed.
The5thHorseman[TK]
Yeah, I read about that before but never took the time to understand how this process works, which I did this morning. So with my new knowledge of how screen-printing works (I'm so smart!), I'd say that the screen templates used to make these decals feel very handmade to me. themaninthesuitcase[Admin]
Would the grey ones have been screen printed with grey paint/ink onto a black vinyl?
The5thHorseman[TK]
It looks very much like it on the reference picture I posted above.
