Thermal Detonator Caps don't fit over my PVC, any advice?

Hey everyone, so I'm just about finished with my kit and was going to assemble my TD when I noticed the caps don't fit over the PVC pipe I'm using.  The PVC is 2" in diameter on the inside of the tube while the total diameter is about 2.8". Anything smaller than 2" that I could find at Home Depot is 1.75" and that's far too small for the caps.  So I don't know whether the problem is the PVC or the caps that came with my kit. Any advice? (Also an ATA kit if that makes any difference in the sizes.)

Try 2" ABS pipe, not PVC.

Perhaps try dipping the caps in some hot (but not too hot) water to loosen them up a bit so they will stretch a little

Sometimes you have to bevel the edges of the pipe to get the caps to go on.

You could try ABS pipe too, 2" usually works.

Personally, I'd start with Terry's advice and look for a piece of 2" ABS pipe for the tube, and from there I'd go with Jason's advice, if necessary, and bevel the edges a bit.

The original TD's had beveled edges to fit the end caps.

Good call Mathias, I think I am going to bevel the edges on my TD too.

That's exactly how I did my mortar tube pipe for my pack using the same TD caps that came with my kit. Quick work with a dremel

I did my detonator just like Locitus above before converting to TD. My pack mortar tube was done the same, so much easier
