XiliX Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 I received my ATA helmet on Friday. This is my first build and I love the quality of the ATA helmet and building it. I worked most of the weekend on it. I got the face and back cut out and riveted them together. I have not trimmed the excess away from the bottom opening. I may be worried about nothing, but it seems like it going to be a tight fit to get my head through the opening at the bottom without cutting into some of the tube shaped bulges that start from the mic tip area. Is this common? My hat size is around a 6 7/8 - 7. Thanks for any advice. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 Are you turning it 90 degrees first, and rotating it back once it's on? Quote
Tusken RTT Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 ^ This! But they can be a VERY tight fit. I have an AP kit and my melon barely squeezes in. Quote
XiliX Posted February 23, 2015 Author Report Posted February 23, 2015 Thanks for the replies guys. I am not rotating it 90 degrees before putting it on. However, I can see that it might help. Without trimming the opening at all, turning it 90 degrees is almost enough for it to fit. I was not aware that's how most people put them on. If that's the case, I think I'll be fine and thanks for the tip. Quote
sylverbard[TK] Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 Its called screwing on and off your bucket. And still kinda tight with padding. Quote
XiliX Posted February 23, 2015 Author Report Posted February 23, 2015 Thanks guys. I'm relieved now. I want to leave as much plastic as I can around the opening. That tip alleviates my worries. Quote
Dark CMF[Staff] Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 That is definitely how they go on and come off. LoL. I could NEVER get my head in my bucket without screwing it on. Quote
Spycee[TK] Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Welcome to the club I got panic attack the first times I put it on ... I have to screw it on carefully to not panic each time. 1 Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 It's also how the original helmets were put on. Quote
wonko Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I wear a size 7 1/4 hat and have an ATA bucket. My head fits fine, even with 2 fans, a hearing module, and 2 battery packs, but like everyone else, I have to screw it on. Brian Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 If it ain't screwed on, it ain't goin on. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 1 Quote
