Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted August 17, 2013 Author Report Posted August 17, 2013 So here is some of what I have been doing... Finished the biceps Assembled more of the belt ...and moving further along on the helmet ears! Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted August 26, 2013 Author Report Posted August 26, 2013 Just received a bunch of items I ordered from Trooperbay! Fastest turn around ever! And I am totally re-energized! Thanks, Mike! 8^) Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 So I discovered that a much easier way to hold the thighs and the forearms together while you put the strips in place is using...TIE WRAPS! Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 My first dry run! NOTE: my right thigh was still drying! Let me know your opinions and thoughts for improvements at this stage before I attach everything. I think my butt is too low...or my thigh is too high....hmmm... Quote
SCTrooper[TK] Posted October 1, 2013 Report Posted October 1, 2013 The torso armor looks good and the shins as well. You could resize the biceps and make them smaller to fit your build better. The thighs I would resize to, it looks like you just overlapped the back of the thighs. Resize them and then use a finishing strip like on the front. I have really skinny arms and legs too, resizing will make you look great. Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted October 8, 2013 Author Report Posted October 8, 2013 Starting to paint the details on my helmet today...wish me luck! Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted October 8, 2013 Author Report Posted October 8, 2013 I simple cannot find the lovely helmet painting tutorial on here. Where someone started out by using a pencil to mark paint areas... Does anyone know who posted that, or can send me the link??? Quote
TrooperTim Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Grab a pencil or some tape and mark it! Have no fear Scott! Look at the originals and just replicate it. See then do... read through other people's helmet builds... spend time in the tips/how-to sections. Helpful and useful threads are pinned at the top of each forum. Search bar, search bar. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/14806-how-to-assembling-ata-abs-helmet-1 Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 Tim! How are you, man!? Good to great from you ! I already did just that! I used both a pencil and tape...we shall see how it works! Next, sniper plate and knee ammo pack! I...am...getting...there...! Quote
A Master Builder Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Tesla, grab the Dave M decals from Mike off Trooperbay, they are amazing!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 Helmet painting progress and test images: Using blue painter's tape... This one turned out good... This one, mot so much...I think a toothpick may clean it up after it has dried... Quote
LadyInWhite[TK] Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Nice. It's all about the edgework. Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 Nice. It's all about the edgework. Do you think the top horizontal lines are straight enough when compared to the actual mold line? It is pretty close... Quote
LadyInWhite[TK] Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Yes, they look good and clean. For the vent stripes, remember on the trap they go outward at the bottom, a little flare. I mussed that up myself... still mean to fix it. Press lightly so your vent lines are a little thinner. I used some horizontal tape to mark the top and bottoms of these after my gray had completely dried. Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 Oh, I didn't realize they flare...! Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 If you ever make a mistake on the edge, dip your paint brush into thinner and dab it on a rag so it is moist but not dripping. Then gently massage your paint mistake until it comes off. You can clean up many edges with this method. Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted November 9, 2013 Author Report Posted November 9, 2013 .....annnnnnnd, I'm back! Ok, so how is the placement of my thigh ammo belt looking? Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted November 17, 2013 Author Report Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) Ok...new pics! Getter closer! Edited November 17, 2013 by Tesla Kinetic Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 Looking great! Um....you need pants. No totally necessary but just a suggestion. The blue on your ab buttons looks dark. Maybe it's just the picture. Quote

The blue on your ab buttons looks dark. Maybe it's just the picture. Thanks! It was a "Pants Optional" kind of day. Yeah, a lot of debate going around about what blue is correct. I used what I was told I could. There really isn't a specific color called out as far as I know. Right now, I just want to get enlisted... Quote
LadyInWhite[TK] Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 Paint job looks great The vocodor looks fine, don't stress it. Except for the lack of pants, you are starting to shape up quite nicely!!! You will get approved with any blue, but when you get your hawt self in gear for EIB, Model Masters French Blue is the new black, so to speak. Quote
Tesla Kinetic[TK] Posted November 17, 2013 Author Report Posted November 17, 2013 I wish all colors where called out. Wouldn't that make this process easier? If french blue is vogue, then make it known officially. I hate that I am going to have to repaint because I didn't choose my colors on a whim. Quote
TrooperTim Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Finish so you can march in the parade with us. It's looking great man. Quote
