Defiance7x13[TK] Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 The picture sucks, but you can see me wearing a hand made chain mail jerkin and helmet a few years ago on Halloween. A buddy of mine started it after high school, and used to work on it while we would play D&D/star wars/rifts or whatever was running at the time. It took him month and months of work, but really not much in materials. I would say less than $100. But that was a long time ago. Another on of my friends liked the idea and made a similar shirt with a chrome finish around the same time. He used to wear it riding his street bike and at metal clubs. It was pretty awesome looking. Once again made for I belive less that $150. ( he used a better metal) The shirt and the helmet together weigh about 50-60 lbs. I'll be honest I couldn't rock it all night at the bar. After a few hours I had to de-suit and let the locals play with it Quote
EOTK Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 That is some nice looking armor. Not sure of the pricing of the stuff that Pat linked to, but ThinkGeek also has chain mail shirts and coifs for sale: Chain Mail Shirt Chain Mail Coif They also have gauntlets: Medieval Steel Gauntlets Quote
abaddon_1974 Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 I have a suit like that in my living room, made to measure by a professional armourer. I think that my current costs are up to around £4500 and I still have the legs to being made for me at a cost of £1500. Not a cheap hobby to get into at all. Craig Quote
Eric Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 i've looked into metal suits of armor before, i plan to eventually get one.. the best style i've found is the "white knight" but it cost about 1,500... funny how i passed it up before getting my TK suit because it was expensive. haha Quote
john danter Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 I had a part complete suit for my Nazgul Ringwraith costume. Great stuff Interesting that that knight has no armour on his rear legs or not much on his back.....? My fiance Becky is an archaeologist and explained that in those days it was considered 'uncooth' to stab an enemy in the back, (some would however, especially rebels and stuff) and not many Roman soldiers can be found with woulds to their back quarters. If they did, they were cowards Quote
