  1. David, I absolutely love how this turned out! Good to know that mistakes are fixable with a little effort.
  2. I have a friend who has been looking at the NE armor to get basic approval. Is NE considered a vetted kit / maker?
  3. Shaving cream--like on the bathroom mirror. I let it set for a few minutes, and use a paper towel to dry it off. The anti-fog stuff wasn't working for me either.
  4. Glad to help! Sorry, I didn't mean to sound critical at all--the test looks great.
  5. Glad you are cooking on this again! The latest test looks great to me--the only thing I thought was ribs maybe closer together in the relaxed state? I wish I knew more about these seals...
  6. I'm really digging this thread! My screen name comes from my first and last initials plus tk. Sounds uninspired to explain it, but I wanted a four-letter variation to match my gaming name (eoas). Originally I was going by eoastrooper, which was that gaming name plus trooper on the end. I originally found these boards after finding Stukatrooper's Flikr set, so I *probably* was mimicking his name. Anyway, I decided to shorten it--especially because I like how EOTK looks in the Aurebesh font. The whole EO thing started in junior high when my friend Stacey used to call me Mr. O--I had a crush on her because she had pale skin, freckles, thrasher hair, and a Music for the Masses t-shirt. I started signing everything EO after that. Twenty years later friends still call me EO...
  7. Shaving cream is also an inexpensive way to prevent lenses from fogging (works on your bathroom mirror too). Coat for a few minutes, wipe dry with a paper towel.
  8. I know Trooperbay has them: http://trooperbay.com/accurate-stormtrooper-black-latex-gloves/
  9. I would second trooperbay.com as the place: http://trooperbay.com/abs-plastic-extension-strips/ If you need bigger pieces than the dimensions listed, Mike I'm sure will get you a quote if you email. I just got two squares of it, and it's a great match with my FX and RT kits. I looked all over locally for ABS sheets, as well as calling a big supplier down in Indy. They don't want to sell less than a very large quantity! Go with T-Bay!
  10. Ok, looks like I figured out the problem: I downloaded an update earlier today for a program that I'm using (iSkysoft iTube Studio), and I just realized that they have a brand new Chrome extension (in addition to the Safari one). Anyway, looks like disabling the extension in either browser makes the pop-ups on FISD appear correctly. Enabling them makes them goof up again. Anyway, I appreciate the troubleshooting and advice. Looks like problem is on this end...
  11. I noticed a problem today on Chrome (but I also see it in Safari). When clicking on the "change theme" or "mark community read" buttons at the bottom of the FISD page, the popup menus look like they are appearing behind the main page content. See screenshot below. I can mark the community read by clicking the thin gray bar above the white button, but like I said, no popup menu anymore. Did something change on the site?
  12. Welcome back, Pat! I did a double take when checking the FISD new content just now...
  13. Eric--looks fantastic, man! I'm printing out your whole thread to use as instructions for my build lol.
  14. Many thanks, Rob--I missed that build thread. Important info, whoa! Nice looking build too!
  15. Thanks Luis! I'm hoping to confirm the actual box height measurement.
  16. My drive with my TK research died, and I'm trying to retrace my steps since it will be a few days before I can restore from a backup. I'd be grateful if anyone could help me out. I have an RT-MOD kit, which has taller than normal drop boxes. I ordered some custom drop boxes from Rob with the dimensions 60mm wide x 110mm tall x 15mm thick. He asked me where I got these measurements, and I'm not finding the height listed on the FISD. Thickness answered by TM: ------- The width seems the same between RT, FX and the ATA HIPS boxes I have. So, I feel pretty comfortable with the width measurement I gave. It would be nice to verify if possible. So, can anyone confirm the standard height for the ANH drop box? I apologize if this is a "bad" question--I saw this thread that got no responses: ----------- Anyway, I think Rob will keep these molds if they are standard dimensions. Many thanks! EO
  17. Not sure what happened with the links, but the set is available here:
  18. Big grats, David--hope to see you at a troop soon! Your armor looks fantastic, man!
  19. NP Steve--sound like you might have a solution anyway. BTW, have you seen this thread? --------------- I went looking for the finger protectors at local fabric stores, but the one only had thimbles or leather ones. The other store had plastic ones, but it was a bit small for my hand. If you found an open-top one like shown in that thread, it seems like you could permanently install the PTT button and seal the back side with a piece of ABS and some Plastruct. I personally would love to do this as the button seems to slide around in the glove so it's not always in the best position. I assume that will get worse when I'm in full rubber gloves, although I have some lycra gloves to go in between.
  20. I was having problems about 2-3 hours into troops with the PTT cable not working--the gloves that I've been guest trooping with are only rubberized palms, but obviously things were wet enough to have trouble. I cleaned off the PTT button with WD40 and let it dry thoroughly. Then, I tried a finger from a disposable rubber glove (too thin /button poked through it), I currently have a helium quality balloon on there, and I also got a rubber bag from an RC shop (too thick in the glove). I just tightly wrapped the open end with a couple of inches of electrical tape around the wire. Seems to be pretty reliable now. I'm assuming that the rubber will wear out quickly, but I have plenty of other balloons for that...
  21. My neck size is 16.5". Can't wait to see what you are up to, Karin!
  22. Karin, I think this is a fabulous idea--can't wait to see what you come up with! I would be very happy to test one if you need testers!
