Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Hans Larsson (TI/IC-18181) joined the New England Garrison of the 501st Legion in April of 2016. A quiet man, Hans was always one to step up and help out fellow Troopers however he could. He opened his heart and home to those of us in the New England; allowing Troopers to spend the night after a long days troop, offering to carpool with Troopers to and from events, and perhaps most importantly, pitching in when the NEG crafted a special armor kit for a young man we learned of through Make-A-Wish. The Legion was a creative extension of Hans' desire to help those less fortunate: in his home state of New Hampshire, Hans was active with groups that sought to assist Veterans and the homeless, and volunteered with the New Hampshire Special Olympics. Hans gave back to others in a sweet, gentle way and truly represented the ideal that all Troopers should strive for. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Greetings fellow members, Hope everyone that went to celebration Anaheim had a sensational time, got to make some new friendships and put some faces to fellow troopers you have conversed with on our platforms. We have another great addition for you this month with several announcements which I shall leave to the various staff departments, but one of them is a section I take care of. Our 3D awards forum. For full details please see that section further down, but it gives me great pleasure to announce two well deserved awards. TK14082 Trooper96 Bryan receives another silver award for his continued updates on two of his offerings, L2A1 blaster and the M38 scope. this is Bryans 3rd silver award, congratulations sir. TK51923 BigJasoni Jason receive his first Silver 3D award for his R1 TK belt boxes, a nice upgrade to any of the new gen TK armours, congratulations Jason. Thank you to both these members for their generosity and dedication to our membership and the Detachment. Reminders: Please don't forget to check out the Members Choice Merch Poll. HERE Not only can you have a vote on a selection of possible merch items, but if you have any great ideas, please post them in the thread. Updates: Don't forget to check the Deployment officers section of this edition. We are making a CRL wide addition to all our costumes. This update will take place over the next week and will only affect our higher levels of approval. That's it from me, please enjoy our June 2022 news Letter. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader 3D printed Weapons/accessories approval for Expert Infantry/Centurion As most of you are aware, resin weapon kits Doopy Doo's are very difficult to come by, there are still other quality makers of resin and aluminum kits available, both pre-built or as kits in E-11s and other items. US - Fieldmarshal (blasterfactory) - mostly metal parts Canada - Quest Designs - resin kit UK - TroopaCoola (JMC) - metal and resin (cast from original parts) On the other hand 3D prints seem to be the wave of the future. I for one say HUZZAH! There are some truly fantastic files out there to use (many are FREE) to either print your own or have a friend (or online service) do so. Building a 3D printed weapon or accessory can actually be a lot of fun, and something to do when you need to take a break from your armor build. BUT, please be aware that whatever type of item you are building must meet our standards when applying for higher levels of approval. In order to maintain screen accuracy, any 3D printed item submitted for Expert Infantry/Centurion approval cannot have visible print lines present. This will apply to all costumes, and has been added to the CRLs for each as a Level 2 (EI) requirement. Wh-wh-WHAT? Is this a new thing? Nope. We have been insisting on this since the onset of 3D printing, but now it's official. Eliminating those print lines is actually fairly simple, and will make for an awesome looking end product that you will be proud to troop with. If you have questions, we have answers, so feel free to hit anyone of us in the D.O. department up and we will be more than happy to help! New FISD Tri Fold Brochure We have just launched our newly revised Detachment Tri Fold brochure. It's been quite a long time since we actually had these available and since then many things have changed leading us to updating some of the text to include new costumes, and have more relevant information. Originally these were done in a limited run by the member who created them, but nowadays, we have moved this to a print your own service making them accessible to all countries around the globe. Files are available to all full 501st members on request, and are completed in a very high resolution to ensure quality in a finished product. The thread can be found here for more information and how to access the files. 5. Hi Rodney, From what I’ve read, I think RS only sell their blaster with a full commission build. I don’t think it’s available on its own. If you’re looking to build your own, TroopaCoola’s JMC E-11 kit is very detailed. Quest Designs Canada also made a nice resin kit. From what I’ve seen, the Quest Design model is a little more basic, however, the end result is still nice. :-)

  7. I've been reading and learning about TK builds and how the ISD helps along the way. The amount of info available here is amazing. Thank you for what you do here. This is my second 501st costume build. My First is ROTJ Boba Fett Hero that I built after being laid off in 2020 due to COVID. I've been trooping as Boba with the 501st and loving every minute of it for almost a year. The 501st will not allow more than 1 of the same character to troop at the same time. (Ex: not allowed to have 2 Vaders or Bobas or you get the idea.) You can have as many TK's as you like though. So, I decided to build a TK allowing me to go to more troops. I've got a good start on my build. All of the parts are in hand except the E-11 which is being built by Quest Designs and the belt since I won't know which size to buy until the armor is assembled. I commissioned my helmet build from Trooper Master and he did an amazing job. I am adding the fans, sound system, upgraded lenses & padding. I also painted the inside black with Plastidip. I've trimmed all of the armor and am ready to start gluing it together with E6000. A good friend of mine built 2 TK's to Centurion Level, one is a sand trooper. He is guiding me through my build. My goal is to get Centurion approval. After building a Boba Fett this should be fairly straight forward. (I hope)
  8. I'd have to agree 100%. I am very fortunate to have received my order but, I hate to say it, it's probably time we regard him as a high risk vendor. It's really unfortunate how many others have ordered and not received anything, including communication on their orders. A sad time for us when there aren't many rubber blaster makers left. On my list of reliable vendors is PremiereProps and Quest Designs, both on Etsy, both 3d printed, and both for half the price with extreme quality and communication.
  9. Looking forward to seeing the build I've not seen E6000 plus so can't help with info there. Some reviews on this Amazon page, down the bottom https://www.amazon.com.au/E6000-Plus-570110-Adhesive-Clear/dp/B07QJDJYC6 With ESB blasters for Snowies there are a few options Standard ESB Stormtrooper style, no counter or hengstler Promo/ROTJ style More images in this thread A few options for purchasing, recently these have been mentioned 3D printed Quest Designs (not sure if they can do an ESB style) https://www.questdesigncanada.com/collections/frontpage/products/star-wars-stormtrooper-e-11-blaster-prop-replica-stormtrooper-v3 And JMC looks to do the ROTJ style greebles https://www.facebook.com/Troopercoola https://www.facebook.com/groups/300153641472608
  10. Hello everyone - I have been lurking and reading here for a few months and have begun working on my storm trooper armour build. I have relied on advice and guidance provided on this forum to select the vendors from which to purchase the necessary items. So far I have ordered and received: from "stormtrooperundersuit" 1 x undersuit, 1 x balaclava and 1 x neck seal. from "imperialboots" 1 x pair of Classic 421 boots. I am waiting on a complete build of storm trooper armour from "Authentic Props" here in Canada and 1 x E-11 Blaster from "Quest Designs Canada". Can anyone tell me if I am forgetting anything? The storm trooper armour from AP includes: Armor/Helmet kit fully built ready to wear out of the box <-- I expect a few adjustments will need to be made. Leather ANH holster Rubber gloves Rubber flexible hand guards (preinstalled on gloves) Canvas belt Aluminum TD clips (Blaster, boots, black undersuit, neck seal not included) <-- made sure i purchased these separately. Cheers Jeff

Some projects are long term others short to mid term but we are moving along smoothly and to the numbers. First order battle group continues to expand and will do into the future but we are glad there finally exists a good home and one stop resource outlet to support our First Order family. If you have anything to contribute to that section please do so. Visual checklists and guides are almost complete across all our CRL's for EI and Centurion with some big hours and outstanding drive from wignut65 (Jeff) DL's blog to keep you in the loop and behind the scenes with what's going on is alive and well, and I will continue to put these out on a regular basis. Forum refresh is in it's last stages with the colorful banners created by gmrhodes13 (Glen), personally I think they are all awesome, I hope you folks do to. New Vendors list completed, and it's great to see a FO specific list with so much content. I'd like to thank all our vendors for the outstanding products they produce and supply with consistency, you make becoming a highly screen accurate Stormtrooper that much easier. A few minor CRL amendments to make life easier for GML's and members alike. There are several larger updates to be started on where membership will have plenty of input so keep an eye out for those in the near future. March to 1000 special event merch is now designed and ready for the approval process. This will go on sale once we achieve the number and I will continue to leak teasers for this one off piece of merch as we get closer. CRL Translation team. This has just recently started with our first CRL being translated into Spanish. Many languages to follow but as we got through this process we are still finding a few errors in the CRL's themselves that need to be fixed. Stay tuned for updated progress on when they go live. Trading card issues now look to be resolved and moving forward again thanks to much help from Hoda (Eric) We now have a new spreadsheet and system with Tray finishing up the last few outstanding cards. While on the subject of Trading Cards, Tray has found it increasingly more difficult to continue fulfilling the print service he has so wonderfully offered over the years. The current Covid situation, work and real life has consumed his time so we will now revisit the topic of Print Your Own services for all trading cards moving forward. Thank you Tray for your long standing service, we hope things improve for you in the future. What's to come The DO's are working on a new guide to make it even easier to get your application for EI and centurion right the first go. They are focusing on the top items that applicants get wrong so this will hopefully all but eliminate the same mistakes being made by applicants in the future. CRL revamps for TLJ/TroS and Phasma TFA TLJ. these are rather large projects that will take time but we are aiming to fix any of the errors and update with new information and images. RotJ CRL, yep we are finally in discussion regarding a weathered Endor variant to add to this CRL. This cant be done without a CRL Model, so if this interests you please be sure to send the XO's or myself a Pm. Remnant Incinerator Trooper (The Mandalorian) CRL will be under construction later in the year as we currently have a new member Nicker (Nick) building the costume for the CRL to be created. Staff position compendium will start in a few months with the notion to make a job description for each staff role clear and understandable. This guide should make it easier for anyone wondering what is entailed in all roles from the top to the bottom. Continued forum clean up and image restoration. This is one of those ongoing processes that is quite time consuming but slow and steady wins the race. I just recently posted a thread explaining how any member can play a part in helping with the clean up process, it's easier than you may think. EI Gallery recovery. Monumental task that requires some back end manipulation to attempt to bring it back to it's former glory. Then it needs to be updated with over a years worth of EI submissions. This is going to take a lot of time but we will get a start on it if we can recover the old data. Future merch possibilities. We would love to get a coin run happening later in the year and are floating a few other ideas so stay tuned. That's it from me until next time, stay safe and see you all again for next months edition. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader Greetings Stormtroopers and Stormtrooper enthusiasts! There is a great deal of work and activity that is always happening beneath the surface of the FISD, so that it can continue to be the fun and valuable asset that it is for each of you. The Newsletter is really just the proverbial tip of the iceberg that you see each month. At this very moment, there are a lot of moving pieces that we on the Staff are working to pull together. There is some really exciting stuff in the works at the moment, but I'm not going to spill the details just yet, as we never know if they will come together as we hope they will in the end. I am not at all kidding when I say that some of the things in the development phase right now are quite literally firsts for the Detachment - or they will be - if we are able to pull them off. Aside from that however, Happy Birthday to the FISD! Another year in the books, and membership continues to grow and serve as inspiration and support for each other. There is truly something beautiful in this community, and that is what keeps the work happening. It keeps happening in the forums, and out in the world. If you're recently approved, consider submitting for EIB. Maybe you will be #1,000! With Unquestioned Loyalty Tim Waychoff TK51878 “Dark CMF” Executive Officer Social Media To get you some insights on how everything on our social media platforms evolves, I present you several diagrams. These show the progress we make within our pages and groups! As of today our Facebook page has increased the number of followers by 544 compared to the beginning of this term. This means, we cracked the magic number of 15,000 followers, making the FISD the 501st detachment with the most followers on it's Facebook page. Our Facebook group gains more and more interest and we can look at a proud number of 2,962 members as of today. We gain 2-3 members a day. That being considered, we will probably reach the number of 3,000 members by the beginning of August. We hope to spread the word furthermore, to get the rich information of our detachments forums out to all newbies and current builders. Our Facebook DPRO @Rat is approving new members on a daily base for this useful and entertaining group. Also a huge Thank You! to our DCoGs for helping moderate any discussions on this communicative platform! The numbers of our much younger instagram page evolve great! We are now at 3,354 followers, more to come. Our DPRO Teresa @Soulart creates new content on a weekly basis to keep all our fans and member updated and entertained! Finally we have to admit, our team has been a bit lazy on Twitter lately. We haven't generated much content for the Twitter platform and also users didn't reach out to us via Twitter very often. Still our number of followers is pretty much constant, with a small tendency upwards. We plan to get more activity on our Twitter page and present more content to our Twitter using fans and followers. Stay tuned and be impressed! Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. To register a “win” in the program, the assistance must have provided hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting of said armor for the person who was awarded Expert Infantry status. Other program notes: • Helping remotely, giving advice, or taking payment in exchange for help does not account, all work must be voluntary and without expectation of compensation. • The assistance must be for a period of 30 minutes or more. Spending 15 minutes tweaking someone’s fitting or taking photos does not count. • "wins" can be retroactive, e.g. if you helped 5 people in 2017 already, those can count as long as they are fully documented. Award Levels • 5+ “wins”: FISD Armorer Badge • 15+ “wins” FISD Senior Armorer Badge • 25+ “wins” FISD Master Armorer Badge The process • Person applying for the award will create an application thread to track the help they give. • For each “win”, they will list the person they helped achieve Expert Infantry status by copying their EI approval thread. • For each “win”, the person who was helped will validate that this person helped them. You can find the master award area here https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/182-fisd-master-armorer-program Are you an approved TK that spends more time on the boards than the average Trooper? Do you enjoy using your knowledge to help out future and existing Troopers? If so, we would like to invite you to join the Imperial Attaché program! Members of the I.A. team are chosen to help out not only those here on the boards, but on a local level as well. Our aim is to have at least one in each and every Garrison, Squad and Outpost in the entire legion to be the eyes and ears of the FISD on a local level. A suggested level of EIB or above is preferred, as part of the duties include assisting those aiming for levels 2 and 3, but is not a requirement. Being active on the boards on a regular basis , welcoming new members and helping out where you can is, though. Some of the benefits: 1. Access to exclusive Attaché merch., including patches, etc. 2. Having the Imperial Attaché title under your name. 3. Being a part of the team that welcomes new and prospective members of the FISD. 4. Being the "go-to" person in your Garrison, Squad or Outpost. 5. Exclusive access to the Attaché HQ area, Imperial Propaganda Machine (newsletter) and merchandise discussions. These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! It also works on giving a better look to the Legion as an entity, and you can bet others will take notice of your hard work. The 501st has a list of detailed requirements for Basic approval, (level 1), EIB, (level 2) and Centurion, (level 3) which can be found here in the Costume Reference Library, (CRL) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Here are a few of the questions people may be wondering about: 1. "I am a (tall/short/heavy/thin) Trooper. Can I still apply? Of course! These programs are open and encouraged for all sizes of TKs, as long as the costume is correct and meets the guidelines. There are many specific build tutorials to every option, as well as a vast network of fellow TKs on the FISD to help you out and offer suggestions. 2. "How much extra will I have to pay for extra items"? The cost is actually quite reasonable, considering the few extra supplies you will need, which are listed in the requirements area. While it may run you a little more to implement these additions to your costume, they will go a long way to improving accuracy. All needed items can be found for sale on this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-orders/ While blasters are not required for basic approval, for EIB and Centurion levels they are, and may need upgrades (also listed in the CRL). 3. "I haven't even got my kit yet, is it too early to start planning"? Actually, aiming for Centurion is easiest to do right out of the box. 4. "I have my basic TK approval, can I still get in these programs"? In a word... absolutely! 5. "Are there any "perks" to this extra work and cost"? Besides knowing that you have a great looking set of armor, the 501st and FISD believes you should be deservedly recognized for your achievement(s), and allows you to wear the appropriate embroidered "rocker" badge of rank (available for a very minimum cost) on your shirt, helmet bag, etc., as well as rank decals to put on your armor bin. You will also have access to select "challenge coin" runs, receive (free) a cool certificate for your new rank, and have your title posted below your name in your FISD signature. Plus, once you reach these levels, you will have the extra knowledge to help out those who are looking to apply as well. 6. "Is it hard to apply, and what happens then"? After basic approval, all you do is make sure your armor is up to the standards set forth in the CRL, post a thread with the required photos in the appropriate area (see below), and wait a bit for the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) to address it. (Hint: Studying other people's threads before you submit can be a GREAT help). These are also listed on the main page of the FISD site. While waiting for approval, you will get some comments from others who will offer suggestions and constructive advice to help you out. If you should need any changes, the DOs will let you know, so you can adjust accordingly. Don't be dismayed if you do need changes... it's all for your benefit! After you are approved for EIB, then you can submit for Centurion. EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just ask away here on the forum. This area lists all those who have gone above and beyond basic approval toward screen accuracy. Now that many of us are unfortunately stuck at home and boredom is beginning to take it's toll, it's time to wipe the dust off of that armor bin and become a part of FISD history! Instead of binge-watching re-runs, we are suggesting that you put the D.O. Staff to the test and spend some time on that white armor you miss wearing so much by applying for your Expert Infantry badge! As you may be aware, we are aiming to have #1000 approved by the end of the year. We only have 25 to go, so in order to reach that goal we are asking that you read over the CRLs for your particular armor, (this thread will help) make any necessary adjustments and post up your submission! Photo Checklist- Link here Apply Here Questions: 1. Not sure if I have what it takes to get my EI badge- You don't know until you try, and you have not only the D.O. staff but an entire Detachment to help! 2. I need some repairs/fixes first- This is why we are here! We honestly want you to succeed and are here to help in any way we can. 3. I am happy with the way my armor looks, so why bother?- It not only makes you look more screen accurate, it instills a sense of pride and "esprit de corps"! 4. What if I don't make it? No worries, we will provide detailed suggestions on how to reach your goal! Benefits: 1 Bragging rights for being one of the "Original 1000" 2. You get a cool badge under your name here on the FISD. (Street cred). 3. Access to EI rocker badges (coming soon) to go above your FISD patch (also coming soon)! 4. Access to coin runs for EI awardees only. 5. Certificate for your accomplishment. 6. You'll be one step closer to Centurion! 7. Most importantly, having a more screen accurate looking set of armor!! Know that the entire Staff and those who have reached Levels 2 (and 3) are here to help in any way we can, and that you are more than welcome (and encouraged) to ask any and all questions you may have here on this thread, or contact myself or Sha Sha. You can do it, Troopers. Let's turn this "anno horribilis" into a banner year for the FISD! 15. So, I guess I still have more to post. After not wearing the armour for a bit, I put everything on this weekend in preparation for a big troop this weekend. I knew I’ve been losing a little weight, but I am now swimming in my armour. Not awesome. So, added a bunch of temporary padding. I also added extra straps to my biceps/shoulder bells to keep the biceps from popping out. Thighs were the worst. Also picked up some liners for my gloves. They can be tough to get off when all sweaty. Then I packed everything up forgetting I wanted to cut some ABS from off the back of my thighs. Rats. I’ll do that tomorrow when I weather my new E-11 from Quest Designs. I also need to add a spring to the action. My 3D print and the Quest Design E-11. Packing - arms go in shins which go into the thighs which go into the torso. Temp lining in my tote. Wife hasn’t got around to doing some sewing for me. I think she is protesting the whole thing. "Buckets Off" With the trooping activities in full swing and the new staff all settled in to their roles, it's amazing that we've hit out 12th anniversary (on July 6th) like it's just another milestone. In some ways a detachment turning 12 is similar to a person turning 12 - not much to get excited about. It's not like your 5th or 10th birthday, and it's still a year away before you can be a teenager. It's an awkward period where you've gone through a fantastic amount of growth and are now trying to figure out what the future means. What does the future hold for FISD? We've actually gotten quite a lot accomplished this year so far, but we have much more we can do. Consider this my ask for a retrospective: 1. What are we doing well that you want us to continue to do. 2. What are some things that we're not doing, that we should start doing. 3. What are those things you want us to stop, do less of, or do differently? The mission of a detachment is to serve our membership, so ultimately we answer to you. Are we being all you need us to be? Feedback is a gift, and we really want you to let us know how we're doing. Emails, PMs, or even posts to the forums are always welcome. The 3D Contributors Award The how to earn will go live in the 3D forum section shortly giving full details, but in brief the award is in the form of a side bar badge, and awarded based on merit. There are many ways you can earn the badge plus it can be earned multiple times depicted in the number of Silver cubes on the badge. But wait there’s more!! The Gold cube contributors award is available to those who attain 4 silver cubes or contribute at an astonishing level that deems them an honorable recipient. Without further adieu, I am delighted to announce we have our first recipient of this new award. His in depth research threads, incredible quest for accuracy and unparalleled generosity consistently sharing his 3D files set him as a benchmark for this award. I am sure you will agree, this more than warrants no less than the Gold cube contributors award for Germaine (The5thhorseman) Congratulations Germaine, you have certainly gone over and above on numerous occasions and this award is well deserved. With Unquestioned Loyalty With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK-11469 "Sly11" Executive Officer Greetings troopers! I just wanted to say a quick blurb on how great things have been around here for the last couple of months. The FISD is full of positive energy again and our members are working so hard assisting future and current troopers in achieving their dreams of being a white plastic spaceman. I may not post in every single thread but trust me, I am always lurking around. I have seen some potential members looking to pull the plug on their dreams because they are getting frustrated with their builds or are feeling overwhelmed. Then our amazing members step in to lift up their spirits, offer stellar advice, and push them towards the finish line. This is what we are all about here at the FISD. We come together for the greater good of the legion because we always want everyone to succeed. All of this positivity has made our provost's job easy lately and it's been great to watch. So lets keep this up moving forward. Again, if anyone needs any assistance from our detachment guards for any reason, please do not hesitate to reach out to Aaron (pyrates), Chris (themaninthesuitcase) or myself for anything! With Unquestioned Loyalty Steve Sheades TK-10466 "starsaber25" Provost Marshall Hey Troopers, first off congratulations to all the new EIB and Centurion applicants who earned their badges this last month, well done . Though the badges earned have slowed a bit as we transitioned seasons and families go on vacations we're seeing a lot of exciting builds here and on the FB pages, not to mention a massive influx of new BBB (Big Brown Boxes) arriving on doorsteps. The FISD is about Trooper Helping Troopers and we have an outstanding group of attaches and willing members out there lending a helping hand and giving great advice. As we anticipate the new rush of builds, let's gear up and continue with the fantastic work I'd like to thank our new DOs, Joseph for his tireless efforts as he hit the ground running eager to learn and wasted no time popping out L2 and L3 applications, and Shane for stepping up and tackling some administration tasks, helping out on build threads and applications. Are you an approved TK that spends more time on the boards than the average Trooper? We are currently in need of Attaches in many units, especially International Garrisons/Squads and Outposts. For more information on this program, please head here and if you should have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at any time. (Pretzel) For a complete list of Imperial Attaches, go here NEW ATTACHES! Please join me in welcoming 5 new Imperial Attaches to the FISD: 1. Alan @Thumpy~- A SkyTrooper extraordinaire! Alan is a grizzled 501st veteran with loads of experience and is coming back from retirement to assist the FISD and encouraging fellow troopers to pursue a TK costume. We are pleased to have him part of the team! 2. Colin @menschie - A newly approved Stormtrooper ready to serve on the front lines of all things TK. Colin is honored to be part of the program and already making strides with his local garrison my spreading the word of the FISD and what we do. Keeping the moto strong. Troopers helping Troopers! 3. Asa @SgtGarand - Asa is our newest Attache from Japan and has been helpful in guiding new members on their build threads. We are happy to see him on the team. He is working on F-15's when he is not trooping. So if you want to be a flyboy, he may know the ins and outs of some flying machines! 4. Jeff @StrmTRPR85 Jeff volunteered the for the program with much enthusiasm! A specialist with building his own fan systems and battery packs! We look forward to his contributions to the program! 5. Tino @T-Jay Tino finally decided to volunteer for the program. He is basically a legend with his contributions to his E-11 expertise. If you have not seen some of his tutorials, you may want to check them out. Honored to welcome him to the Attache team. EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just ask away here on the forums! This area lists all those who have gone above and beyond basic approval toward screen accuracy. Request your free Centurion certificate here If you see any of these Troopers around your Garrison or Squad, be sure to congratulate them! As many of you are aware, the FISD is currently in our March to 1000 program. Our goal is to reach the one thousand mark of Troopers who have earned their Expert Infantry Badge, and although we are well on our way to this goal and have just passed the 800 mark! The amount of approved submissions is increasing (over 80 this year alone) thanks to the dedication of those willing to go the "extra mile" toward screen accuracy. Here is a brief description of EIB as written by Paul (Daetrin), our founder: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable..." Besides the added pride you will have in your armor, those reaching this level can purchase exclusive EIB gear (patches, decals, coins etc.) and get a free certificate for your accomplishment. If you are interested or would like more information about the program head here that will help. You can also contact myself "Pretzel" or any Imperial Attaché, and we will be more than happy to assist you! FISD Merch Reform The FISD for sale and merchandise rules have been in a place for a long time - they were liberally taken directly from CTN (the 501st clonetroopers detachment) and haven’t had to be tweaked much in 10+ years. For the most part things have been going well, however we’ve seen an increasing amount of reports of buyers making demands that fall outside reasonable expectations. We have had more than one occasion during merch runs, where a member files a PayPal dispute immediately upon seeing someone else post that they have received their items, and the filing member has not received theirs yet. This is a major pain. It locks up the PayPal account of the person managing the run, and could potentially cause other members to panic and file claims. Nobody wins in this situation. It clogs up the management of the run, creates a mob mentality, and cannot lead to anything productive regarding possible resolution to what wasn't a problem until that PayPal dispute was filed. The run manager (whether the DMBO or not) is acting on behalf of the Detachment to include the membership, and going straight to PayPal disputes is disrespectful of everyone involved, to include other members who ordered the item(s). Filing PayPal disputes without seeking resolution or an answer from the run manager/Detachment Command Staff should carry a suspension of no more than 30 days - really it is the same as someone messing up the forum experience for others, except that this is actually messing with people's lives and money. To protect against this, the following changes are being made to merch runs for FISD effective immediately: 1. Buyers have 30 days from shipment to report a missing or lost item for domestic runs. Sellers are only required to retain proof of shipment for 30 days. Why? Domestic shipments should normally arrive in about 7 days. Some people are claiming items never shipped 5 months after a run was closed, which is way too long to ask people to retain shipping material. If your domestically shipped item hasn’t arrived after 30 days IOW, you lose the right to claim it was never shipped. 2. Buyers have 60 days from shipment to report a missing/lost item for international runs. Most items are received in under 30 days, however we know some countries are pretty bad. Sellers must keep shipping documentation for 60 days on international items. If the shipper can provide tracking information (e.g. a tracking number for domestic or a customs form for international), they are not held liable for items lost or missing in the mail. Any concerns post them on the announcement thread due shortly. Anthony sported a half dozen approved costumes and was passionate about his involvement with The 501st Legion. With his frequent travels, Anthony made an effort to meet other members everywhere he went. From his work with the U.S. Forest Service to his vegan life style Anthony demonstrated consideration for this World. Anthony is survived by his loving wife Carrie. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. "Buckets Off" On the 7th of May 2018 Keith Sloggett TK-76101,Keith Sloggett from Canadian Garrison passed away after a courageous battle with kidney disease. He was an amazing, generous friend to many, always putting others before himself. Cherished father of Shelby, Jenilee, Adrian, Elijah and grandfather of Savannah. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. "Buckets Off" Rumors, half-truths, and social media. There is a marketing term called FUD which stands for Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. The intent is that if you can present partial information that creates FUD relating to your competitors products, you can then steer people to your own. In the US lately there has been the term “alternate facts” added to our lexicon recently as well. In either case, it makes it hard to find factual information. I bring this up as it’s become a more frequent concern amongst unit commanders – garrison and detachment alike – about how to deal with rumors and innuendo that start and spread via social media. In journalism, the old stand-by is to always check with the source. Walter Cronkite, a journalist trusted and famous for his integrity, was once fired from a job when he was younger because he refused to air a report without checking the facts himself. Even when JFK was assassinated, Walter did not go live with the news until he was able to verify the details with sources personally. I say this as there have been a lot of false stories circulated on social media about FISD, such as the silver coins not being real silver (they were lab tested, they are), or that there was some type of special run done only for the officers (there was not), or that there is a “secret FB group” (there is not). The lesson here is not to believe everything you read on social media. Check with the source. Can they back up their claims? Do they have any proof? Or are they just stirring the pot to further their own agenda? From the start FISD was created to provide transparent information to the membership. Initially it was to shine truth on the various makes of armor and how best to build it. L2/L3 approval threads have always been 100% open to the public (vs. being deleted as another detachment did) as we want that process to be transparent. When it doubt, always check in at FISD if you have any questions on rumors, etc. Since 2006 we’ve set the record straight, and will honor that tradition. New Executive Officer Eric @Tolo has been with FISD a long time, including stints as DCOG and most recently as DXO. As things happen, Eric's personal life has changed for a positive for him, but for us it meant that he couldn't do what he needed and stay on as DXO. Eric - Thank You! for all you've done for FISD and we wish you the best. Fortunately on FISD, we believe in staff development, e.g. taking on new people to staff roles, and then grooming them for higher office, either here on FISD or elsewhere in the Legion. Many former FISD staff have gone on to be GCO/GXOs, SLs, and DLs. Continuing in that fine tradition, Andrew @Sly11 has graciously agreed to step up in to the XO role. Many of you know him from his solid work as a Deployment Officer, which he has rocked. Please join me in congratulating Andrew for a promotion well deserved. With Unquestioned Loyalty Paul Hoeffer TK8020 “Daetrin” Detachment Leader It would be remiss of me to make my first news letter post as DXO without some heart felt thank you's, so here we go. Eric (Tolo) Thank you for your tireless service within the detachment. I have some big shoes to fill & hope I can do you proud. All the best with your promotion in the real world, and please remember we are but a few button clicks away. Tony (UKswrath) The last two years in the DO's role, have been an absolute blast. I have made a life long friend in Tony Jobe (UKswrath) and had the opportunity to meet him and most of the FISD staff face to face at last year's SW Celebration. What great memories It has been a pleasure to have worked along side you during my tenure at the DO's office, we have laughed a plenty and when you think about it, the DO role is one of the most rewarding positions to hold. Every day we had the opportunity to make another member smile and have reason to be proud of his or her own accomplishment. I feel content in the knowledge the DO's office is left in the best possible hands, and with your new recruits will continue to reinforce the high standard the detachment has come to expect. Paul (Daetrin) I am honored with this opportunity to serve as DXO. In my eyes, we are the finest detachment in the legion, and I am ready to take on the new challenge and personal growth this position will bring. Thank you for your leadership and guidance. The Membership To all those over the last couple of years, who submitted applications for Expert Infantry and Centurion review. On so many occasions Tony and I were gob smacked at the quality of armour builds. The fine points, all that attention to detail and quest for accuracy , it all made the job not only easier, but more pleasurable so a thank you is also well deserved. I shall leave you with this The FISD is a well oiled machine. Our success is a sum of all our parts, from the staff right the way through to our newest member. You all form part of that machine and in its day to day service and achievements, without every single one of you and your contributions big or small, we would not be where we are today. To the Empire With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK-11469 "Sly11" Executive Officer Greetings troopers! I would like to announce the addition of two new Provost Marshall’s to the command staff. Please welcome Aaron (Pyrates) and Chris (themaninthesuitcase)! You all are probably familiar with Aaron and Chris. They both have been contributing to our community for a while now. They both worked their way through the ranks from starting out as newbies to becoming part of the Attache team. Their hard work and dedication to the FISD has been extremely helpful to our members as well as the staff. Congrats Aaron and Chris! These past two months have certainly been a whirlwind around here in regards to the FISD merch. During this time, it was evident that emotions were running high and people became very passionate. I would like to commend the members who were able to communicate in a productive manner on our forums. It was certainly a tough situation for everyone involved. I would like to take this time to elaborate on an issue as it relates to my position and my responsibility this past two months. There was a growing concern that some members felt their voices weren’t being heard as the “staff” was just locking all of the threads down. I would like to tell everyone that that was not the case. The threads that were locked were done so either at the request of Legion Command or because I was trying to prevent a catastrophic situation that would not have benefited anyone. My main goal is to maintain a positive experience for every member that visits. There were times when communication was breaking down between members which in turn was causing agitation and resentment which is not something any of us want to see. There is not one member here (detachment staff included) that did not want to find an amicable way to reach a conclusion to the situation at hand. Moving forward, I would like it to be known to all of our members that if you feel you are not satisfied with a particular process, then you should feel free to contact me at any time. I would be more than willing to discuss any issues that any member may have. I would prefer to keep those types of discussions here on our forum then out in the open on social media for all of the world to see. With Unquestioned Loyalty Steve Sheades TK-10466 "starsaber25" Provost Marshall Hello all. It's been my greatest pleasure serving with Andrew (Sly11) the last couple years as FISD DOs. It would be an understatement if I said I'm going to miss not working on apps together with my comrade in arms. I believe Andrew and I were the first duo DO team on whitearmor after Steve (Gazmosis) stepped down. We hit the ground running as the flood gate of apps bombarded us and literally have been not stop since. Coupled with new armor types and CRL changes it wasn't always easy sharing duties with someone on the opposite side of the planet but despite some obstacles Andrew and I continued tirelessly through illnesses, vacations and life stuff in general, backing each other up and holding each other accountable as needed. We laughed, scratched our heads and gave each other virtual high fives during our time as DOs. We were and will always be a team. Thanks for the great times my friend. As Andrew continues to drive the FISD forward in his new capacity I want to wish him a huge congrats, a position well deserved. Troopers Helping Troopers is what the command staff strives for and Andrew is one of the finest examples of the motto. Have fun brother. At this time I'd like to welcome Joseph (justjoseph63) as the new DO replacing Andrew. Joseph is another fine example of someone that has proven themselves the last couple years. Devoted and loyal to the FISD as Attaché Ambassador his relentless pursuit to helping members reach their potential and striving for accuracy he has proven without a doubt he's a great asset to the FISD family, and I believe will be an exceptional DO. Congratulations and welcome brother. Looking forward to working with you as probably the two oldest guys in the detachment command staff lol. Old guys rule Also, it was decided to bring on a 3rd DO to help with costume reviews alongside Tony & Joseph. Shane has been doing a bang-up job on the boards and when Joseph recommended him, well how do we say no? With May just around the corner, a busy month in the Star Wars universe, there’s no better time to remember why we all dress up as white plastic spacemen. So, if you want to say “hi” and share a picture of yourself, (perhaps your favourite pic or moment as a TK), feel free to speak up. :-) You can find the thread here With Unquestioned Loyalty Dan Branton TK-42911 "CableGuy" Imperial Attaché Wow - it looks like April was the month for Trooping filled with non-stop field reports, some phenomenal photos, and those troops that get you right in the heart strings. It made it incredibly difficult once again to pick one of you to honor into the Stormtrooper Hall of Fame - as a matter of fact I had to spend the last couple of days going back and forth. Finally, the moment has come. Without further ado.... here is a photo that I have decided to caption: “Get a load of this guy’s armor, ha, ha, ha (shhhckt)” Honoring TK - 11463 Mike With Unquestioned Loyalty Aaron Gibson TK99725 "Pyrates" Imperial Propaganda http://stormtrooperrun.com/templates/rt_citadel/custom/images/jez5.png The Running Stormtrooper "Jez Allinson" completes his third London Marathon The Running Stormtrooper Project has been going since 2016 and has now entered the 3rd and final chapter of this crazy trilogy: The Last Stormtrooper Run…. Mark Newbold talks to Jez about world records, raising huge amounts of money for charity and, most importantly, how you can help raise money for his latest (and last?) project. You can see the full interview below: You find out more on his website here FISD now has a dedicated Facebook Group Yes, you read that correctly! The Command Staff does indeed hear your requests, and for the most part we want to make them happen! There was one trooper who asked for all of us to be a part of their underwater basket weaving graduation ceremony, taking place on/beneath a boat near the Cape of Good Hope... Nobody was actually prepared to make that happen. Aside from that instance however, we do what we can to make you happy as members, with your experiences at/associated with the 1st Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment! One of the primary requests from the membership at large was for a more interactive presence on Facebook. We have a great Facebook Page, but that is not an interactive space. That desire was what led to Paul asking me to consider returning to the Detachment Staff. I was excited to come back but knew that Facebook is a large machine and that I would need help and so I asked Marcus Dohring @JODOKAST to be a part of this new phase of FISD's growth, and here we are, discussing the new Facebook Group. I phrase it that way, because it is live. Right now. You can go there and join, and begin asking questions etc there instead of finishing your reading here - but I encourage you to finish this first, I mean, this NL will be one of the very first official posts there after all. So, what will you find when you go there (aside from a link to this newsletter)? Sharp-eyed members may notice some hidden gems when they get there, but generally you'll find a few different spots for questions and answers. Over time, more content will be worked in to the group, dependent upon the requests we receive from you, and from observations made by us. It is there, and ready, but it will indeed grow and evolve with time. Okay then... Where is it? It is right here: 1st Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment (FISD) Official That's what you need to get started. What do you do next? Spread the word, share the link. It is Social Media after all, let's make it more social! With Unquestioned Loyalty Tim Waychoff TK-51878 “Dark CMF” Social Media Relations Want Your Troop to be Included? Most of our readers are aware that there are other Star Wars Costume Clubs out there, aside from the 501st Legion. For the treacherous types, there is the Rebel Legion, and for those who are only interested in making a credit or two here or there, the Mandalorian Mercs Costume Club exists. But did you know that there is also a costume club available for those fans who are not old enough to tie their own shoes yet? It is absolutely true. If you have not heard of the Galactic Academy, here's a little bit of information about one of them who I happen to know very well - 6 year old Cadet - First Order (CFO) 2594, Kellan Waychoff. Kellan has been rocking his First Order armor for a couple of years now (and sadly those days may be numbered as he continues to grow) and he has become quite comfortable in his costume as a result. He has appeared at a handful of conventions and unofficial troops, as well as one official (non-con) event with me in that time. Early in April Dallas hosted FanExpo Dallas, and on Saturday he once again put on the armor for some good causes, serving as a Blast-A-Trooper target for about three hours to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation. http://i.imgur.com/TYNw3KC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/iGm3I8F.jpg When his time there was done, he came out to the photo area and took a few photos with fans and Star Garrison members also. http://i.imgur.com/jBBRBq6.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9INKR6K.jpg The highlight of his weekend however was when Anthony Daniels saw him at the booth. Mr. Daniels actually chased him down to tell him how "exquisite" his costume is, and then asked if they could pose for a picture together. http://i.imgur.com/6JxVTHc.jpg http://i.imgur.com/vWfMR3D.jpg You can find more information about the Galactic Academy here With Unquestioned Loyalty Tim Waychoff TK-51878 “Dark CMF” Social Media Relations Retail Embargo Lift For most of the year we are under an embargo from LFL and can not attend retail locations unless prior approval has been given by them. At certain times of the year this embargo is lifted, generally around Blu-Ray / movie releases, May 4th and Force Friday, the recent correspondence from LFL outlines the lift of the embargo dates to be between May 1st and May 31st. As always there are strict rules, speak to your Garrison Commanding Officer, Squad Leader or if you have one Garrison Events Coordinator before organising any event. *REMEMBER* Always follow your garrison/squad's guidelines when in comes to organising Disney/LFL promotional troops, only command staff can deal direct with LFL. Serve proudly, ladies and gentlemen, and as Tim (Dark CMF) says: "Keep doing what it is that got you here"! Are you an approved TK that spends more time on the boards than the average Trooper? We are currently in need of Attaches in many units, especially International Garrisons/Squads and Outposts. For more information on this program, please head here and if you should have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at any time. (justjoseph63) For a complete list of Imperial Attaches, go here NEW ATTACHES! Please join me in welcoming 2 new Imperial Attaches to the FISD: 1. Greg, (wook1138) A Centurion TK 34575 who will be working with Pyrates (Aaron) in the Badlands Garrison of Canada. 2. Ben (Neb Sgird) TK 56730 will be our first I.A. in the Alpine Garrison (Utah)! Serve proudly, gentlemen, and as Tim (Dark CMF) says: "Keep doing what it is that got you here"! Attaché Patch Becoming an attaché also gives you the ability from time to time to purchase specific merchandise not offered to the general membership, one such item is the limited attaché patch, sales thread here (sorry only Attaché's may order) Imperial Attaché Award for those attaché's who have gone above and beyond [minimum 1 year of service] I am very pleased to announce that Preston (Pretzel) of Garrison Carida has taken over the office of Attaché Ambassador. He has been a shining star of the I.A. program since joining well over a year ago, and is one of the few recipients of the Attaché Outstanding Achievement award. I am confident that he will do a fantastic job in taking the program farther, and will continue to serve the FISD and Empire proudly. In addition to this post, he will also be active as the lead in the FISD Instagram section. Congratulations, Preston! With Unquestioned Loyalty Joseph Pedigo TK-10963 "justjosepth63" Deployment Officer Greetings fellow Troopers! It is with great pride that I accept to attempt to fill the very BIG shoes that JustJoseph has left for me. I humbly accept this new position as your new Attache Ambassador. Not much will change! I will continue to "head-hunt" for more IA's as I am a firm believer of this program. When I first started out, it was the IA's that assisted me greatly in my Journey here at FISD. They helped me achieve Centurion after all! My goal as your Ambassador is to simply continue what Joseph has worked so very hard to build. I hope to host more fun contests and look forward to working with all of you as we continue towards our goal of 1000 EIB! Keep doing what you are doing! Keep our motto true: "Troopers helping troopers!" With Unquestioned Loyalty Preston Christman TK-91488 "Pretzel" Attaché Ambassador So what exactly are EIB (Expert Infantry Badge) and Centurion levels? EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Note: You will see some suggestions in the existing submissions/approval requests that, while not actually part of the CRL, are highly suggested items, (for your benefit), such as "flat-head screw heads on the TD (thermal detonator) should be painted black" for Centurion, etc. Those small details all add up to closer screen accuracy. Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just post the question, (or PM justjoseph63) and best of luck on your build! You can also contact myself (justjoseph63) or any Imperial Attaché, and we will be more than happy to assist you!
