Looking good! Your almost there. I need to find that paint on plasti dip, the painter got overspray on mine and I do not want to mess with taping and spraying a finished bucket. Great tip for my dilema, thanks.

I am super anxious to become an official member of the FISD and have a question for anyone who might know the answer. My armor has been approved by my garrison and I would like to know how long the 501st usually takes to process and assign my TK#. I know I need to be patient , but I am curious about the time line. I have been told that most of the wait, usually, has to do with the local GML getting the armor put thru for approval. Since I am past this hurdle, I am wondering how long I have to wait from this point. I hope this question is not out of line. I have noticed that some folks seem to get theirs really fast and have heard horror stories of years of waiting. I appreciate your input. If this question is inappropriate, please remove. Thank you Christaan

Received a PM requesting to see my strapping. I still have some bugs to work out but this is my set-up. I hope this is what you wanted to see Rebel Doughboy. shoulder bicep thigh belt Inside ab plate Inside buut/kidney inside chest inside back inside helmet Basically, what I did was borrow ideas from other great build threads and throw them together, the only thing new might be how I put snaps on the suspenders. I am very grateful to everyone who posted great pics of their rigging, without your hard work I would still be fumbling around. I hope to fine tune my system after being able to attend an armor party.

Kevster's ATA build[*ATA]
naatsirhc replied to kevster's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
That is how my left side bicep ended up, but I assembled my armor and then made those adjustments. Basically, I made sure it fit and then trimmed to comfort after assembly. It will really vary from left to right and is also dependant on your muscle build. Remember you can always trim more later. I used Lexan scissors and then used a fine grit drum head, with my dremmel. Your right side should end up with some return edge, but it will depend on your frame. I think the butt plate is right. -
Coming Soon: Another ATA build[*ATA]

You should probably watch Mike(4510)'s move along bucket build tutorial. He makes exactly the look you are describing. I found this the most helpful when putting my bucket together. -
Kevster's ATA build[*ATA]

Kevin, Looking good, so far. Just take it slow and trim a little , then double check and then trim a little more. With my build, once I had the seems the right width and then assembled I then trimmed the openings for comfort and better fit. Hope that makes sense. Keep on going! -
*BADA$$!!!!!!! Thanks Doug! *Looks Great Christaan Curtis, good to hear from you. Thank you for the compliment!

Matti, I am sorry i missed your post while I was updating. I think I discovered what happened with the Humbrol grey. I stirred it and then painted, the directions say to stir well and then shake for 30 seconds. Since it had probably been on a shelf for awhile, it most likely needed better mixing. I followed the directions the second time and had success. Thanks for the support. I think your bucket looks pretty good, too!

I have had Pay-Pal for several years, I usually have some money always in the account. I have both my bank account and a creditcard on file. There have been a few occasions where I did not have any or enough in my Pay-pal account and they just draw the difference from my bank account. I have not had any problems, so far. I have a friend who was big into e-bay and actually set up a seperate account for Pay-pal and E-bay. They are constantly working to make sure the security is there, I think that is why the fees go up. Hope this helps!

Nice job! -
Finished my belt using Mark's( Firebladejedi's excellent ESB build photos) skill as reference. Well, I suited up completely for the first time tonight. I have to make a new strap system for the shoulders, to bring them up and in a bit. I will need to pick up some plastic to fill in my side gaps, I am working on loosing the gut. Please let me know what other adjustments I should make, if any. I took a lot of pics, I hope you guys don't mind seeing all of them. Time to submit my photos!

Wow! Doug, Thank you for the awsome compliment, I hope my armor holds up to your kind words. I still need to make some adjustments for EIB, I will sort that out while I wait for my TK ID. Thank you

Hey Gos, Thanks for the praise. The painter is my wifes cousin and he did the whole job for free! I have had some looks from folks when asking for items at stores, when I would tell them I was doing a stormtrooper build. Thanks again

Thanks Paul, Terrel and Mark! I think it was a matter of waiting. It is there now, nice to get rid of my 94 Rubies pic. Thanks again

I have all my armor back from the painter. I have been wrapping things up since 9:30, just have the belt left to assemble. I made templates for the lenses and then cut and hot glued. Started with the ammo pouch, drilled holes and then riveted with 1/8 inch with 1/4 lenght and washer. Then the sniper plate, same routine. I decided to not heat and shape to calf. Painted ab buttons Finished TD, glued face Tommorrow is the big day, have to finish and adjust straps and then do my final suit up! I see a light at the end of the tunnel

I changed my pic in my controls and it comes up there, but not in my posts. Does it take awhile to change or did I miss something? I must of starred at my finished bucket too hard! Please help

Thanks

I had some difficulty with the humbrol paint. I am used to testors( models and such when I was younger ), but went with what was suggested. I don't know what happened, but when i painted the grey on the ears it had a reaction and did not dry all the way in sections. I scraped it off and sanded a bit and then re-painted. At this point I decided to not worry about perfection, because the screen helmets were not. Here are the ears scraped down. I repainted the grey and used black pin stripe(4510 build) from the local Pepboys to finish the ears. Then painted the stripes, I chose 3 on each side. Installed the lenses and mesh Please let me know if I did something wrong! I am picking up the rest of my armor from the painter tonight and will stay up getting things finished. I hope to definately take shots of my armor and get them submitted tommorrow.

Is this like the most accurate Rubies suit? What a bargain!

ATA build, ESB prop look.[*ATA]

Matti, looking like a worn bucket. Can't wait to see it with all the trimmings! -
*Thats looking sweet! The teeth came out very nice. Good to see how well the decals fits and look on the helmet. Im right behind you and will paint today. Thanks Matti, I look forward to seeing your pics. I am not used to these Humbrol paints, so I am still working thru my paint job. *still looking great Thank you Ben for your encouragement. I am glad that you have found this thread useful! I installed the tube stripes and have done a first round with the Humbrol paints. I started out taping of the frown and the vocoder. I used the hole punch method( from another thread, thank you for the idea) to tape out the vocoder. I highly recommend that if you have painting skills, do not tape just paint. I had some real problems with the tape method. Here is a pick of what the Tape looked like before paint. I painted last night and this humbrol paint(which I am not used to) and it still is not 100% dry. So, I will finish my paint job tonight. I also have to swing by an auto parts store to get some black pin stripe for the ears( 4510 technique, from video tutorial ). We are having my daughter's 5th birthday party today, I will have to wait till tonight to push forward. Here is my progress so far. Note: still needs work! A little tip for those who don't know, if you get paint where you don't want it. If you have a decent amount of coats on your bucket, just use 2000 grit wet dry and carefully sand away the paint that got away from you. Then polish out.
